It was the time where the sun was at its peak... but even so, nearing winter, it's hard to say if it's any warmer. A boy, very muscular for his age, is walking side by side with a Riolu who seem to be looking around for anything fun to do. This morning's talk was still fresh in his mind.
"I've did enough research for a lifetime. I'm thinking of stopping our research to what we have at the moment" he heard that from his grandfather who looked really old. It's at that time that he noticed how much three years would do to someone who's really old... In his case, it would be changing from a preteen into a teen, but for his grandfather, it became matter of "I used to be able to do it, now I can't do it anymore". The lab was not like the one in Shire. It's more... privatized. The fund came from his grandfather's own pocket, a bit help from his maternal aunt and uncles, and his brother... but in the end, even though he wanted to run the lab he can't. His grandfather's age definitely doesn't help.
"Your job here is done. This is still your house, and I'm thinking to pass it to you in the future. You looked like someone who gonna catch tons of Pokemons. So you can use this lab and all that... but now, I think it's time to declare that my research is ending. I'll still got my pension and all, so I can take care of the Pokemon... but now there's no need for you to wake up so early and help me with my research. It's time for you to fly, Brat."
...Fly, he don't really know what it really means, but looks like his grandfather gonna retire for real. His body just can't keep up, and the lab, being a private lab, doesn't really interest a lot of assistants. At this point it's pretty much a personal sanctuary, he guessed... So with all operation pretty much stopped and it becomes a sanctuary inside, there are not much for him to do, labhelping wise.
"And so what should I do?" he remembered asking his grandfather.
"Who knows? Don't you love adventuring? Go on and adventure, see the world, I'll be waiting here. I have enough helper Pokemon to take care of me. Enough of being an errand boy. You have done a lot. Now it's time for you to do what you want to do."
What he wanted to do huh... if they ask him what he wanted to do, he guess he'll just gonna try exploring around... but with the bombshell revelation that the lab is going to cease its research operation, he's pretty much not in the mood to do any excessive exploration. He felt like he wanted to take it easy...
Beside him, the Riolu barked, as if calling him to return back to present.
"Whoa! That was close, nearly tripped on that hole... Thanks Riku."
Hmmm... not good, he can't stay moping like this. Maybe he should try going to next town? Find someone to interact with, tourist probably... who knows.
"...Ah, crap, I forgot I don't have Pokeballs or money..."
Yep, off to a great misadventure! "Well, whatever, it'll be challenging, right, Riku?"
Riku meanwhile looked at him like he's out of his mind... But at this point he's pretty much used to it.

Surviving on one's own was interesting, to say the least. Ettie had always been used to living with her family, out in the forests and foothills and mountains of Ageos; yet today was the furthest she'd ever been from her family, treading the roads that humans lurked on called Routes. Though she was initially a little nervous, unused to not having the presence of her mother nearby to encourage her, Ettie's curious free spirit would eventually win out over her caution; prompting the young girl to giggle as she lurked amongst the foliage at the edges of the road. Sneaking about and hiding like this was fun!
And it wasn't like she was completely on her own, either; a young Rockruff by the name of Anne trailing at Ettie's side. Whereas Ettie was giggling and not all that well hidden amongst the bushes, Anne was a lot more stealthy about it; near-perfectly silent as she prowled behind her adoptive sister, ears perked and eyes roving for any potential signs of danger. <Don't run far.> She would rumble to Ettie - adding <Don't know if humans safe.>
"I know, I know." Ettie would giggle to Anne in response; reaching back to pet the Rockruff with a bright smile. "It'll be okay, trust me!" She was always the optimist - not seeing any reason to be worried about approaching any humans they might meet. She wanted to make friends with everyone, after all; and surely everyone had at least a little bit of good to them..!
Anne, though, wasn't entirely convinced - letting out a little <Hrmm...> even as she pressed her head up into Ettie's touch. Despite Ettie's friendly nature, Anne was more the skeptical sort - wanting to actually observe a human before she decides for herself whether they're good news or not. After all, if she wasn't careful, it was totally possible for them to accidentally get too close to a dangerous human!
And speaking of humans... Anne would suddenly stop in her tracks, head raised and ears perked. Noticing this change in demeanor, Ettie would pause in her steps as well, glancing back towards Anne. "What's up, Anne?" She'd question with a tilt of her head, wondering if something was wrong.
<... Hear human. That way.> The pup would mutter in response; peering off in the direction of a voice that wasn't Ettie's own. Who was this? Were they a friend? Foe? Anne was unsure, and thus she would remain where she was amongst the foliage, eyes peering through the gaps in the leaves out towards the road.
This news would make Ettie's eyes light up though - there was another person nearby! Another potential friend! Giggling, she would hunker down in the foliage next to Anne; grinning giddily, as she waited patiently for whoever it was to pass on by. In a playful and mischievous mood, Ettie had every intention of seeing if she could surprise whoever was passing by on the road - to burst out of the foliage at just the right moment!
All she had to do now, was wait - and perhaps try to stop herself from fidgeting so much, in all of her excitement.
She was just ready to have some fun with a new friend!

Tetsu at this moment walked with wide, silly steps, as if he doesn't really care what could happened. Now that his mind is out from what happened this morning, he's more focused... not really. He's actually extremely bored! There are nothing happening at the moment, and it's a bit stifling! Well, it's not like he's trying to pick fight or anything, but some wild Pokemon to talk to would be nice, you know? At least that way he's not this bored! Oh well, whistling to himself seem to perk him up slightly...
Until Riku stopped abruptly that is.
"Hmn? What is it, bud?" he asked. Riku in response barked and pointed at a bush... huh, it was rustling alright. Well then, let's activate aura sight... and then he saw a silhouette... no, two? One looked hunched, another looked smaller... Eh? What shape of a Pokemon is this? But from the look of it, it's not hostile-- or at least he doesn't think it's hostile... Tail and ears... a Pokemon perhaps? Immediately, Tetsu goes all four, trying to mimic this Pokemon...
Hmmm... "Ellooo~?" he called out loud to the Pokemon. Let's see... for canines, in order to show curiosity, he should raise his posterior higher than his anterior, right? The so called "playfully bowing". Hopefully this would be treated as a positive sight... Riku meanwhile stayed alert. He have no idea what sort of Pokemon is this. It's bigger than a lot of first stage Pokemon... second stage perhaps? He's ready to pull Tetsu out of the harm's way anytime... but considering that the boy slowly inching forward, while maintaining his usual >83 face... he's.... worried

Hiding like this, hunkered down in the bushes and foliage, was certainly fun - and trying to be quiet and as still as can be (even if her habits tended towards fidgeting, especially if she was excited) while someone was coming close was fun as well! All Ettie could hope, at this point, was that she and Anne wouldn't be discovered too early; it wouldn't be quite as fun, if she couldn't surprise whoever the passerby was, that way! Thus, as Tetsu and Riku began nearing the bush, it would suddenly still - Ettie having managed to put herself together just enough to stop fidgeting in place, grinning giddily all the while.
However, it seemed that Ettie was busted; for she'd soon hear a voice calling out to her and Anne in greeting! Darn; Ettie would initially blow a raspberry at herself as she peered through the gaps in the foliage at the approaching human - noting that it seemed to be someone much bigger (and much stronger) than she was. But on top of that...
... The human was doing a play bow, much like she or her pack would love to do with one another, as an invitation to play!
This made Ettie perk a bit - her aura 'ears' perking with, and the 'tail' beginning to wag excitedly. This was a friend! A friend who wanted to play! Immediately, she would begin to hunker down in place - muscles bunching - and already, Anne could see what Ettie was planning to do.
<Ettie...> The pup would mutter softly, quietly, warningly- cause she certainly didn't want Ettie to accidentally agitate this human if they weren't as friendly as they were making themself out to be! There was no holding back this wild child at this point, though; and the 'hunkered down' form and excited rippling of her aura would likely be Tetsu's and Riku's only warnings...
... before Ettie, quite suddenly, would burst out from the bush - tackling into Tetsu with an excited "Arf arf!!"

The bush... stopped rustling. Whatever is inside is trying their hardest to stay still, yet their excitement still unbridled it seems. There was a split second tinge of mood change, but it looked constant enough. Not that Tetsu would know all that much considering he cannot perceive emotions to certain depth. All he know is logical conclusion of how aura looked and how they moved. And... well, this one... they looked really receptive of his posing. Just as he thought that they would come out...
He ended up getting tackled instead! Oof! He might be strong and his body is firm, but being suddenly charged at like that made him unable to react on time! Thankfully, it was enough for him to prepare landing on his back. What he saw as a blur of black and pair of red eyes... they're beautiful, just like rubies. Tetsu heard a barking sound... huh, this human barks like a dog? On top of it, this one... is a girl isn't she? At the barking, Tetsu barked back, giggling.
"Hey, sup? Wanna play?" he asked. Riku meanwhile just... wondering what's going on. First his trainer goes on all four and pretend to be a dog, and then somehow a girl hopped out from the bush, tackling Tetsu. From the look of it though it looked as if they're already getting along swimmingly...
...Oh no, these two really are the same kind of chaos child, huh?

It would be a brief blur of motion as Ettie - surprisingly - managed to tip Tetsu, right over onto his back! As the dust settled, the young girl would be perched above him with a wild and cheery grin across her face; looking perfectly peachy for having just collided into and knocked over who was essentially a miniature brick wall. Giggling, Ettie's aura-tail continued to wag wildly as she looked Tetsu up and down briefly, before responding to Tetsu's own bark with a gentle "Yip!"
All the while though, Anne would slowly prowl out from her hiding spot in the bushes - sidestepping a short distance away from Riku and Tetsu, but watching them closely nonetheless. Neither of the duo seemed aggressive or agitated at all - albeit the Riolu just appeared confused more than anything - and so the Rockruff would be calm for now; though she was ready to step in without any warning, if Ettie seemed even the slightest bit distressed.
Ettie, however, was still happily giggling; smiling brightly and nodding eagerly in response to Tetsu's question. "Yeah, I wanna play!" She'd chirp - adding teasingly "I thought we were already playing, silly; you were play bowing at me, after all!" with a brief and playful 'blep' of her tongue. Rolling backwards onto her heels, Ettie would promptly stand back up and bounce back a couple of paces to let Tetsu stand up, before glancing over to Riku; noticing the fighting pup's presence.
Almost instantly, Ettie's eyes would light up at this; another doggo, like Anne! And this one was as tall as she was, if not taller! Giggling happily, Ettie would wave over to Riku, calling "Hiiii puppy!" with a bright smile. "How're you?" It was entirely possible that neither Tetsu nor Riku were aware of Ettie's ability to understand pokemon; but given how little she's interacted with actual people up to now, the thought never actually occurred to her!
Only time would tell, how the duo would react to Ettie's little quirks. Anne, for the most part, could only let out an endeared, yet still exhausted, sigh at Ettie's antics.

Well look at that! He got someone on top of him! She's light to him, so that's fine. Tetsu just grinned even wider at the yip she just uttered. "Heh, didn't expect that you can talk that well! But hey, whatever! You're cool, I like your spirit!" Tetsu commented. Heh, so they're already playing huh~ "Well looks like you catch me just now, so should I catch you next? Are we playing tag~?"
Oh dear, they're already in their own world... When Ettie stepped away to let him stood back up, Tetsu lightly kicked forward to land on his feet. He dusted his pants, nothing major, just a bit dirtied, and that's fine. "Hmmhmm, so who are ya, wolfkin? Name's Tetsu, just a passing by explorer!"
Wolfkin? That's clearly a human, but Riku guess that Tetsu looked at her aura directly and decided as a nickname he called her Wolfkin? Either way, now he's the one getting addressed here!
<Name, Riku. Tetsu's buddy.> he would bark, not expecting the girl to understand anyway <We, go east. Shire Town. Work. You two, do here, what?> more or less that's what he's asking toward the two while explaining the circumstance. He's expecting the Rockruff to understand him... so at least she probably can help him not feeling so alienated by two chaos child feeding on each other's chaos energy, probably creating singularity sooner or later.

"Oooh! Tag sounds fun; let's do it in a minute!" Ettie would chirp back in response to Tetsu's question, giggling and bouncing on her heels briefly. "I'm pretty fast on my feet - I used to race my siblings lots and lots, when I was still with my pack!" She'd explain with a bright smile, and a bragging hue. As it turned out, when you grew up around a bunch of canid pokemon, you tended to get a lot of exercise from running with them!
However, before any games could begin, there would be introductions. At being called a 'wolfkin', Ettie would briefly tilt her head - a curious hue crossing her face - before wagging her 'tail', giggling. "My name's Ettie, it's nice to meet you, Tetsu!" She would introduce herself, grinning brightly. "And over there is my sister, Anne!" Ettie would then add - gesturing to the Rockruff in question.
Anne, in response, would make a low 'ruff' of greeting to the duo, before resting her head on her front paws; watching them warily but attentively. They were okay for now - but the two, safe to say, were on thin fucking ice until she was able to get a better idea of who they are.
As Riku responded to Ettie though, the young girl would smile and nod in response. "It's nice to meet you, too, Riku!" She'd mention with a bright smile; continuing "I haven't heard of Shire Town before, but I might go there too, if you two are!" And as far as what they were doing out here, well... "To be honest, we dunno what we're doing! Me and Anne are just wandering and seeing the world, really, eheheh..!"
Making new friends was certainly one goal though - and they seemed to be succeeding in spades! There were two friends right here!
Anne though, would elaborate to Riku <Wandering, want to form own pack, and see human world. Lived in wild, before.> to avoid any confusion.

Fast huh? "Heh, that sounds nice. I'm probably pretty fast too!" Tetsu commented, stretching his legs in warmup. "Heh, but I'm not as fast as Pokemons... yet. So I think I'll get left behind. Doesn't mean that I won't use this chance for training though! I think it will be fun to try to catch up with ya!"
Here we go again. The kid is a training maniac. Riku can only smile wryly. <Tetsu, strong; but gentle.> Riku would comment outloud.
Hmm, Ettie and Anne! That's nice names. "Hehe, nice to meet ya two then," Tetsu offered a fistbump. That's less formal than handshakes, and he have no idea if Ettie knows about handshakes. "Hmm, sister huh... so I guess it's true that you're raised by Pokemons. My eyes can see the shape of your aura, and they're kinda bestial..."
Though... when Ettie call out Riku's name, Tetsu's eyes widened. What? He doesn't remember introducing him to her! Riku also gaped, looking at Tetsu then back at Ettie. Eh? The boy thankfully recovered really fast with that revelation, and is now grinning wide. "Awesome! Come to think of it, are you a psychic? Or is it that you understand canine Pokemons better because you're raised by Pokemons? You're kinda the first one who could understand Riku you know? That's amazing!"
<Impressive> Riku agreed, nodding approvingly while crossing his paws across his chest. <Human, not understand Riku. Tetsu understands... a bit. Ettie understand Riku, felt nice.>
"Heh, I can guess what you're saying there, bud. Oh anyway! You said you wanna tag along? Sure! Let's go together! The more the merrier, right?"
<Ettie, not used to human world? Stick close to Tetsu, safe> Riku would suggest. <Anne, distrust Tetsu and Riku? Riku, can't tell Anne to trust. Seeing is believing.>

As Tetsu offered the fistbump, Ettie would tilt her head a bit and give it a quizzical look; how was she supposed to respond to this gesture..? She'd never seen a pokemon make a gesture like this to her before..! For a few long seconds, Ettie would stare at the extended fistbump, completely silent and still, with her aura-ears cocked to the sides in what might've been a thoughtful expression - though when she finally did move... She would reach her hand out, and put it over Tetsu's fist, before smiling brightly at him with a wag of her tail; looking as though she had solved a difficult problem and was proud of it! This is how you do it, right??
(... Would Tetsu have the heart to tell her that that wasn't was how she was supposed to respond to a fistbump...?)
At the mention of her having been raised by pokemon though, and the mention of her aura even looking bestial, Ettie would nod in acknowledgement. "Yep! My momma is a Lycanroc, and my papa is a Mightyena!" She'd mention with a proud smile, puffing her chest. The mention of aura, though, would prompt her to tilt her head afterwards - visibly curious. "Though... I dunno what Aura is. I think Mama mentioned it once or twice about some pokemon seeing it! But I don't think I can see it."
What did it mean, she wondered, if her aura looked bestial?
Then, there was the subject of Ettie being able to understand pokemon. She didn't expect Tetsu or Riku to be all that surprised that she could understand Riku; albeit this was also a skill she had for as long as she could remember, and her pack always treated it as normal, so she had no reason to believe that other humans couldn't do the same!
Upon being asked about her ability though, she would begin to wonder if it was as normal as she had thought it was - tilting her head a bit. "I don't think I'm psychic! I just kinda... Hear pokemon, and know what they're saying." She'd explain - continuing "I can't really understand other types of pokemon all that well... But pokemon who are like my family, or Anne, or Riku I can understand just fine!"
"It's been like this for as long as I could remember."
Overall though, it sounded as though they were happy to let Ettie come with - something that would make the young girl's eyes light up happily. "Okay! Let's go go go, then!" She'd chirp with a giggle - quite suddenly darting past Tetsu, tapping him on the shoulder!
"Tag, you're it!"
And off she went, the young girl sprinting on down the road without a care in the world, giggling playfully and mischievously all the while. Anne, seeing that her sister was off on her own little bout of antics, would simply sigh and shake her head with a fond smile; calling out with a bark <Don't go too far!> as she ran after.
The chase was on, it seemed!

Post by Koa Leilani on Nov 16, 2020 5:31:20 GMT -6
There was a sort of excited, jovial step to Koa's march down the route. The start of a new adventure and a new patrol around a region he had only arrived in weeks prior. While he had Pokemon from before, he sent a majority of them to live with his mother to keep her company, something that she greatly appreciated. The only ones he had with him now were his beloved Popplio Azura and a Froakie he named Malik that Ranger HQ entrusted him with. He had others that he planned on bringing with him on his journey, but they had to be brought through customs before he could register them at regional PCs. He adjusted his round shades, a gift from his father when he met a famous glass maker in Hoenn. Since the colder months were in full force, he wore a grey jacket along with black pants to beat back the cold air.
He cradled Azura in his arms while Malik lazily rested in Koa's backpack. As usual, Azura wiggled happily in his grip and barked playfully at him as he gave her a soft smile in return. Then, in the distance, Koa saw a couple of figures. They were still quite far away, but his Aura Sight allowed him to see a flare of aura from this far away. Two very unique ones, to be sure. He hadn't seen anything like them. One that seemed so earthen and rock steady, the other wild and free. So many intertwining colors...he adjusted his glasses again and blinked a bit.
As he approached he spotted the duo with their Pokemon run around playing along the route in what seemed to be a game of tag. Azura barked happily, a call to play too, as Koa laughed. "Want to go visit with the new friends, Azura? Okay let's go." He pat the top of her head as he walked closer. He actually had to speed walk a bit to catch up with the two who were in the middle of the game. "Pardon my intrusion." He said politely as he walked behind them. "Ranger coming through." He gave them a sort of mix of a salute and a wave. "You two playing nice out here?" He asked, though he wasn't trying to get them into any kind of trouble. He was just exchanging pleasantries. Malik lazily opened his eyes, looked up at Koa, before going back to sleep. Azura waved her flippers excitedly at the two and was just a bundle of joyous energy.
"My name is Koa Leilani. I'm from Alola and just transferred from another region. It's nice to meet the both of you." He bowed his head politely. "I'm on my personal trip around the region! I plan on seeing all the sights there are to see to the place I'm going to protect with all my power!" He said, fighting the urge to say 'this time' since he felt like he utterly failed in his last endeavor.

Rather than bumping his fist, Ettie instead put her hand on top of his... huh? Tetsu was about to tell her that's not the way... when he saw the tail aura on her back practically wagging like a dog asking to be praised... This girl... this girl is cute isn't she? He looked away for a bit, scratching his cheek, grinning awkwardly. "Y-yeah, good enough I guess."
Hmm, so her Mama is a Lycanroc and her Papa is a Mightyena... by that logic, then this pupper... Anne, most likely have Sucker Punch. Riku who knows quite a bit about how Pokemon breeding works immediately winced. Nope, he don't like being sucker punch'd. As for Aura... Tetsu mused for a bit before answering.
"Let's see, to explain it as simple as possible, aura is... I guess you can say it's like someone's life power. All living creatures have them. Animals, Pokemon, Humans... Ghost type Pokemons doesn't have them because they're technically "not alive". By utilizing this power, a human can match Pokemon's strength. But not everyone can do it, only someone who trained and talented at it can use it. For example..."
Tetsu clenched his right hand. Faint green light appeared around his body like an outline. It slowly becomes brighter, and then fades. "This is one of the application of aura. Aura Reinforcement made me tougher!"
Tetsu did a backhand strike, as powerful as he could at a tree. The impact was strong enough to normally break someone's fist, yet the boy doesn't seem to feel anything much and caught two fallen fruits. He offered one to Ettie. "That's the gist of it. Anyway, aura isn't something that you can train like muscles. They said to train aura you have to train your body and mind. A healthy soul came from healthy body and mind after all."
Hmm, so he guess it's similar to how an infant can be bilingual if they're exposed to different language for extended period of time? It's interesting nonetheless. And whoa! The girl is fast alright! But as expected, he's not going to lose! Tetsu quickly gets all four into sprinting stance. Immediately, he shot after Ettie! Of course he's lagging behind, but at least he's not breathing heavily just yet. With a grin on his face, Tetsu keep chasing after the girl, making sure to train his footwork while at it. Riku meanwhile... seem to be distracted by something else. He barked a quick <Incoming> at the kids. Tetsu stopped chasing after his new friend and instead focusing on what seem to caught Riku's attention.
Hm? Someone new? Whoa he's tall! Borzil is probably taller though... "Oh, a Ranger from Alola? Alola, Cousin! Name's Tetsu, and that's my best bud Riku! Do you want to play too?"
...Wait, that's too fast, Riku thought. How can he goes from "Hello, nice to meet you" and immediately to "do you want to play too" that quickly!?
"Hee, looking around huh? We're pretty much the same! Heading to Shire! But there's no fault in playing for a bit! Who knows, maybe we'll get into fun adventure during the way! Nothing beat hand of experience when you want to explore the entire region after all! How about it, Ettie? Shall we let Koa tag along with us? The more the merrier, right?"

Even if she wasn't responding to the fistbump the proper way, Ettie certainly thought that she was - and Tetsu's encouragement likely wouldn't help much in that regard. As he grinned and praised her, Ettie would completely miss the awkward hues to it all - her tail would only proceeding to wag faster as her ears perked. Yes! She did it right, she did good! She'd squeeze Tetsu's fist briefly before letting go, giggling in a cheery fashion.
(Though, when Tetsu did wince over his realization of what moves Anne might have, Ettie wouldn't be able to help a brief and quizzical tilt of her head. What was the matter, she'd wonder?)
As far as the subject of Aura went though, Ettie would curiously perk; the way her 'aura' ears swiveled in Tetsu's direction being a clear sign that he had her full attention. She'd nod attentively in response to his explanations, and when he took the time to actually demonstrate his Aura Reinforcement, her eyes would light up in clear awe at the glow that his body would briefly take on! "Ooohh..." She'd murmur, clearly dazzled. "Pretty...!"
The backhand smack that Tetsu would give the tree, though, would prompt Ettie and Anne both to jump a bit in surprise - the duo immediately being able to see just how strong he was. This seemed to unnerve Anne ever so briefly, her ears tilting back as she glanced warily at the young boy, and then at Ettie. <Too strong...> She'd mutter to herself briefly, wondering if humans were really supposed to be on the same scale that Tetsu was.
That strength, though, certainly impressed Ettie; her eyes quickly lighting back up as she accepted the fruit given to her. "That's amazing!" She'd chirp, before digging straight in to the fruit - breaking about a third of it off while she was at it, so that Anne could have some as well. Was it possible, that she could do something like that, once she got older and bigger like he was? She'd certainly hope so - it seemed really really cool..!
Regardless though, as soon as the chase started off, Ettie would be focused on the thrill of it all and the way that the wind would rush past her as she moved - giggling to herself as she ran, ran, ran on down the road - Anne keeping pace with her sister quite easily all the while. A run like this was exciting and fun, and getting to play tag with someone new only added to that excitement! Glancing over her shoulder at Tetsu, she'd briefly wave - calling "You're really fast, too!" with a gleeful laugh, encouraging. "C'mon, you can do it!"
Partway into their chase though, a bark from Riku would soon draw Ettie's and Anne's attentions; the duo skidding to a stop as they glanced over - Ettie's aura-ears perked and swiveled in that direction - to see that there was yet another new person here. At Koa's question of whether they were playing nice, Ettie would grin brightly and nod. "Helloooo! We're just playing tag!" She'd chirp with a wide wave of her arm in the young man's direction, adding "I think Tetsu would've gotten me if we ran any further - my legs were getting tired, ehehehe!"

As Azura waved with her flippers though, Ettie's eyes would light up upon noticing the little seal, as she waved back. Ehehehe; was that another puppy, too? She'd never seen a Popplio before; but the face, the ears, and even the pawlike flippers all read as a odd little water-puppy to her! Her aura-tail would begin to wag cheerily, at this; the presence of so many canid pokemon (even if Popplio technically weren't canids) seemingly exciting her and making her already cheery mood even brighter.
Koa introducing himself would briefly distract Ettie though, and she would glance in the Ranger's direction. "It's nice to meet you too, Koa! I'm Ettie, and this is my sister Anne!" She'd introduce herself as well, gesturing towards Anne. "I've never really gotten to explore a town proper before, I've only ever been to the edges of any towns me and my family passed..." She would begin in explanation, not seeming to realize just how odd everything might've sounded without the context of her having grown up in the wild. "... so I'm excited to reach Shire Town with Tetsu!"
The Rockruff in question, though, would make a bit of an anxious yawn as she sidestepped away from the group - letting off the nervous energy that was building up, from meeting yet another stranger. She would briefly look Malik and Azura over, before deciding to lay down where she was - waiting around until the others would decide to move on. Hopefully, Koa boded well just like Tetsu and Riku were seeming to bode well; fighting types and water types would be hard for her to fight against, if anyone here turned out to be a threat to Ettie.
Nonetheless though, Anne would still peer over to Koa and his pokemon, giving them a brief and polite yip of greeting.
Even after introductions though, something would have Ettie's attention - her eyes gazing up at Koa with visible awe. "While Tetsu is big, though, you're tall... Really tall! Do humans really get as tall as you..??" She'd question, smiling brightly and giggling even despite the (once again) strange way she was wording things. "I bet if I got up on your shoulders, I could see lots and lots!"
"... That, or you could reach me really easily if I tried to hide from you in a tree during tag." She'd briefly add, after a moment of thought - her aura ears briefly twitching to the sides as she pondered out loud "I bet I should try to hide from you in a hole or something instead, or just run really really fast, if we play tag."
Before any more comments over Koa's height could be made though, Tetsu would ask Ettie about letting Koa tag along - to which the girl's eyes would light up brightly. "Yeah! Let's all go together!" She'd chirp - bouncing over to Koa's side, and holding his hand. "C'mon, Koa, let's go! I wanna get to know you!" And before she could forget, Ettie would giggle and glance over to Azura, adding "I wanna get to know you, too, puppy! What's your name? Do you wanna play with us, too?"
The only question now, really, would be whether or not Ettie could actually understand Azura - given that she wasn't really a canine - and how Koa and his little entourage would react to Ettie's ability to actually communicate with pokemon.

It appeared he had come across two teens on a journey of their own. The muscular Tetsu and the wild-looking Ettie. Tetsu readily referred to him as cousin and was apparently aware of the customary Alolan greeting. Being one to appreciate and oblige such things, he waved his hands out in front of him while saying "Alola!" with a beaming smile. A peculiar tattoo was on his right hand, but he made no real effort to hide it. Might as well leave it out in the open at this point.
Koa was delighted at Ettie's sheer excitement to seeing Azura, and the Popplio gave that excitement right back, happily barking greetings towards her. It would likely sound slightly different than what Ettie was used to, but she could probably make out the various 'Hello!' sounds.
For a moment he mused over what Ettie could have possibly meant by what she said. He looked at her for a moment and had a faint feeling she was being honest about her claims of never exploring a town before. Did her family live in the wilderness? Or was her family her Pokemon? Either way he wouldn't judge or ask personal questions that might come across as rude to Ettie. All he could do was laugh warmly at her awe over his height "Humans can get as tall as me, yes, sometimes even taller, though we're definitely...above average in that sense." Ettie then continued to excitedly ramble about Koa's potential strengths and weaknesses in a game of tag, and her pure joyous energy was nice to see.
Before he knew it he was invited to travel with them since they were all heading towards Shire Town. Not really seeing a reason to refuse, Koa nodded his head "Yeah sure! I don't really see why not." He then looked at Ettie as she spoke with Azura, who tilted her head slightly at the girl's words. She seemed...surprised. Malik opened one eye to look at Ettie as Azura 'spoke' her name to Ettie with a small bit of clarity, though definitely not what Ettie would be accustomed to.
