Man, if that was his hand rather than his fist, he would have blushed deeper, but thankfully this is only a bit awkward (and more toward endearing than full on awkward anyway). His hand almost instinctively moves toward her head, but thankfully he managed to stop it before his hand could even move an inch from his side. Wheew, that's not nice to be rude like that so immediately after he just made a new friend! Thankfully, the praise was enough to dispel his strange mood. Tetsu instead grinned and flexed an arm. "Yep, pretty tough huh? My goal is to one day get REALLY STRONG that I can easily lift a huge boulder! Ah, wait, lemme relax myself first. I don't think I can keep that up for too long. Whew!"
Here he go again, Riku sighed. <Tetsu, love to be strong> he explained. <Stronger than any kids>
Being encouraged in their game of tag actually made Tetsu finally noticing that he has been winning quite a lot in the past physical wise. Someone finally ended up beating him for the first time in speed department and it feels oddly refreshing. There's this sense of awe mixed with rivalry that burned inside of him that made him felt like he gotta catch up. Pumping himself even further, the fourteen years old would attempt to sprint at his best. He wanted to try parkouring, but there's not much for him to use. Most vines probably would snaps anyway... But either way, he's been challenged, and so he will meet her challenge!
Hmmm, but as he thought, Ettie doesn't have as much as he does in term of stamina huh? "You were great there! I think if we run more and more you'll build enough stamina to outrun AND outlasts me!" Endurance is definitely different than pure speed after all. Though, Tetsu agreed with Ettie's assessment
"Yeah, sounds like fun! Well, it'll probably ends up with me chasing you both but eh well! That's game! That's training at the same time! And I don't mind! Actually, I'm kinda itching for another round right now!"
Riku barked at Tetsu, telling him to calm down. In return, Tetsu just pouted. "Buu, killjoy. My own best bud is telling me to cut it out..."
<Sulking, won't bring anything> Riku barked back. <We're going, to Shire,> he tried to remind. Not like Tetsu would understand fully, but he guess he got it already.
"Right right... Hmmm, well, the guy said it, looks like we gotta play as we goes there! Hey, wanna race!? I'll be it still!"
Riku just facepalmed. He guess he better just gave up with Tetsu... He just looked at the other pokemons and barked <I'm sorry, Tetsu very hyper. Loves training.>.

The three of them just so happened to bump into each other out here, which was a nice little happenstance in Koa's mind. As the group excitedly moved forward. Both of them were just bundles of chaotic hyperactive energy which Koa had little trouble keeping up with despite his relatively relaxed demeanor. "Well I for one wouldn't be opposed to a race, but I've got my Pokemon to take care of. They like being out of their Pokeballs and walking with me." He gestured to Malik and held up Azura.
However, the group would eventually come to face with a multitude of obstacles along their path. Koa would eventually walk into a somewhat small Bouffalant wandering into the road. He tilted his head slightly as the Bouffalant looked at Koa and stamped the ground confidently. Koa figured it must be a young one who just wanted to pick fights with whatever it came across, though Azura just seemed delighted to see a new Pokemon even if it was pretty evident it wanted to fight. Azura hopped out of Koa's arms and danced in place a bit in front of the Bouffalant. Malik opened his eyes to take a look at the commotion with interest. He crawled out of the bag and rested on top of Koa's head to get a better look.
Koa readied himself as the two Pokemon squared off. "Azura, you ready? Use Water Gun!" He commanded as she stood on her flippers and inhaled sharply before spraying a stream of water towards Bouffalant. The opposing Pokemon stared her down and charged forward, horns at the ready. It forced itself through the stream of water and threw Azura into the air with its horns as it bellowed triumphantly. Azura came back down, a little battered but otherwise still good as Koa called to her "Use Pound!" As she used the remainder of her Water Gun, she propelled herself down towards Bouffalant and slapped down hard on one of its horns, which tilted its charge ever so slightly into a nearby tree. The charging Pokemon rammed into the tree and let out a pained groan as it staggered back onto its feet before falling back to the floor with a heavy thud.
Azura dove back into Koa's arms and barked happily for its victory. Koa tickled under her chin in response "There you go, girl! Not rusty one bit, are you?" He praised as Bouffalant wandered back into the nearby woods. Malik nodded his head, impressed. Koa would watch and see how the others were doing.

"Oh, that is true..!" Ettie would chirp thoughtfully at Tetsu's encouragement, as he went over how well she had done with running, as well as his mention over training and building up the stamina to eventually outlast him. Grinning excitedly at the thought of it all, Ettie would giggle and soon remark "I'll be the fastest ever, just you guys watch!" with a confident hue, grinning widely. "I bet I'd even be able to outrun my own pack, once I get that fast!"
<Oh dear...> Anne could only mutter, looking a bit disconcerted at the idea that Ettie could, one day, outrun even her. That would just make the child even more of a handful to watch over and keep safe, honestly; just how much trouble would she get into, if she could outrun her own sister..??
Noticing this though, Ettie would giggle a bit, and kneel down to pet Anne's head - reassuring "It's okay though, Anne; I wouldn't leave you guys behind!" The Rockruff, in response, would simply sigh and affectionately press her head up into Ettie's touch. For as much of a handful that Ettie could be, they still loved each other wholy and unconditionally, like the siblings they were; and Ettie understood that Anne only acted this way out of wanting to keep her safe. That was what sisters were for, after all!
Meanwhile though, there would be Koa and Azura - and though the bwarked-out little 'hellos' that the Popplio made would briefly confuse her, it didn't take tooooo long for her to get an idea of what the little seal was trying to say, prompting a soft giggle and smile. On top of looking like a little water puppy, Azura even kind of sounded like a puppy with an accent; and really, understanding her was akin to trying to understand someone who spoke with a heavy accent - a little hard sometimes, but not outright impossible!
The idea that there were humans who were even taller than Koa, though, would make Ettie's eyes light up in awe. "Woahhh..." She'd murmur - before giggling a bit, musing out loud "I wonder how tall I'll get, when I grow up! Or how tall Anne will get when she evolves, even! She's a big puppy, y'know!" Albeit, even that being said, Ettie was pretty small even by 13 year old standards. Though it was hard to say how much she'd grow, it wasn't likely she'd get anywhere near as tall as Koa was.
Even if she didn't know that fact yet, though, she wouldn't mind it; being small had its perks, too!
Tetsu and Riku would briefly banter though, and Ettie couldn't help another laugh at listening in on this - grinning brightly. "Are you two brothers?" She'd question Tetsu almost wryly, adding "You and Riku are kinda like me and Anne..!" As far as she could tell, the duo's interactions were probably what she'd consider 'brotherly' - and they seemed to have a good grasp of each others' quirks and natures, too. So, as far as she cared, she didn't see any reason for them to not be brothers!

It sounded as though their little tag and race would have to wait, though - given Koa wanted his pokemon to be able to keep up - which would make sense to Ettie, even if she was visibly disappointed at the game being over. "Awww... Welllll... That's okay!" She would chirp to Koa with a smile, the disappointed hue disappearing quickly. "The more the merrier, after all!"
And speaking of Koa's pokemon, she would soon begin talking to Azura - asking for the young Popplio's name. Once more, Azura's 'words' would be hard for Ettie to decipher straight away - as though they were heavily accented, as stated before - though the young girl would make do with what she could, nodding in acknowledgement. "A...zur...a, right?" She'd question the Popplio, slowly sounding it out and asking to clarify; all to make sure that she had it straight.
Anne would be the one to answer her first, nodding and barking a brief <Got it.> in confirmation - to which Ettie's eyes lit up happily. "Yay, I got it!" She'd chirp, a bounce to her step as she continued following alongside the group. "You're kinda harder to understand than Anne or Riku are, but I think we'll still be able to talk lots; you're still easier to understand than most not-puppy pokemon!"
Before any conversing could go any further though, it seemed that up ahead would be a flurry of activity - a handful of wild pokemon for Koa and Tetsu, and even a trainer that she would notice, just off the road! Briefly, the child would end up getting distracted from following Koa and Tetsu to instead approach this older trainer, watching the little pokemon - two grass types and a Hoothoot - that would scamper about at his feet.
From here, she could hear the chatter of the Breeder's pokemon - though they would sound like another language altogether; something that Ettie couldn't really understand, even if she tried to focus on the 'words' they used. She could tell that they were all in cheery moods spending time with each other though, their tones bright and happy - even if the Budew and Hoothoot were somewhat more soft spoken than the Pumpkaboo was. Upon noticing the young girl's approach though, the assembled group would begin falling quiet - them all giving curious or even shy glances in Ettie's direction.
"Heh; hey there, kiddo." The Breeder would greet, smiling gently. Lacking the Aura Sight that Koa and Tetsu had, this young man would simply see a normal - even if a bit scruffy - girl, as opposed to her bestial and wolfish aura. "Pardon them - they're still youngsters, but they're pretty cute, aren't they?"
Without any hesitation, Ettie would giggle and nod - chirping "Yeah!" as she knelt down to try and get closer to their level - smiling warmly. "I think I've seen a couple of them before - those two are a Hoothoot and a Budew!" She'd guess, pointing at the two pokemon in question. For the most part, she knew this due to the travels of her and her pack - and her mother always did well in trying to teach Ettie everything she knew, whenever they'd meet a new wild pokemon.

"Yep!" The Breeder confirmed with a proud smile, impressed to see that the young girl knew a bit about pokemon. He would begin kneeling down as well, as his three pokemon began wandering near to examine Ettie and Anne both; pointing to the third that Ettie didn't identify. "And that little miss there is a Pumpkaboo. They're Ghost and Grass types - the Ghost typing sometimes making handling one a, well, handful; haha!"
The Pumpkaboo, though, seemed to be in an especially feisty mood - chirping something to the Rockruff - to which Anne would hum. <You want fight?> She would question for clarity - and as the Pumpkaboo chirped in confirmation and hunkered down, Anne would let out a playful growl - crouching down low as well with her tail bristling, and gazing to Ettie to get the 'okay' to have a fight.
Which, the young girl couldn't help a giggle at seeing them both get fired up - were these pokemon her fellow packmates, she'd be happy to even join in the playfighting! Though, she did not belong to the Breeder's pack - and thus she'd glance up to him and question "Can Anne have a fight with your pokemon, please, mister?" with a smile.
The Breeder could already see the two pokemon had been getting fired up by now though - even if his Budew and Hoothoot seemed disinterested - and he couldn't help a chuckle at Ettie asking him so nicely. "Sure; lil gal's likely got plenty of pent up energy, so it probably wouldn't hurt to let her burn some of that off. Have at em, Pumpkaboo!"
"Have fun, Anne!"
With this confirmation, both combatants would be off; the Pumpkaboo immediately opening up with a flurry of little shadowy ghosts - using Trick-or-Treat on Anne, as the ghosts seemed to briefly envelop her, adding Ghost to her typing! The Rockruff would be briefly startled at this move with a faint wordless yipe, though she otherwise was unharmed; allowing her to, with bared fangs, turn around and kick her hind feet into the ground; throwing dirt into the Pumpkaboo's face, and lowering her accuracy in return! <Gotcha!>
The Trick-or-Treat seemingly gave the Pumpkaboo a bit of an advantage - one that she would immediately capitalize on by using Shadow Sneak, stretching her shadow out towards Anne in an attempt to strike the pup from behind! Anne, however, was faster; darting out towards the Pumpkaboo, and making a cheap shot kick at her with a Sucker Punch! The Dark-Type attack would certainly smart; sending the pumpkin pokemon briefly reeling - although the Shadow Sneak would still fire off nonetheless, making Anne briefly yelp as the shadows washed over her.
Growling though, Anne would stand her ground; deciding that the first thing she had to do was reduce the Pumpkaboo's accuracy with another Sand Attack! More dirt would be kicked up in the pumpkin pokemon's direction - albeit this tactic would go no further when she'd respond with none other than a Disable; causing Anne to briefly freeze in her tracks, as Sand Attack was no longer able to be used. <Damn!>

(Anne, though, had a feeling that the Pumpkaboo had been trying to Disable her Sucker Punch instead!)
Nonetheless, the fight would go on - and what accuracy drops that the Rockruff had been able to inflict would still serve her well, being able lash out with another Sucker Punch, before darting to the side to dodge the Pumpkaboo's incoming attack - an Astonish in the form of a burst of sound from a startling shout, though it would end up going wide from the pumpkin pokemon's accuracy drops!
Already, from being hit by two relatively strong super effective moves, the Pumpkaboo didn't look as though she was doing too good - whereas Anne, who had been only hit by a comparatively weaker super effective move, was still doing decently fine. The Pumpkaboo lacked any proper moves to fake out Anne's Sucker Punch, however - unless she waited for the Disable to wear off and timed it just right; and she was far too brave to simply sit around and stall that out without actually fighting back.
Thus, as a result, it wouldn't take too many more rounds of traded attacks before Anne was the victor - a Sucker Punch straight into the Pumpkaboo's 'chest' sending her rolling back, as she let out little squeaks of surrender. The Breeder, seeing that the fight was over, would smile gently and lovingly cradle the Pumpkaboo in his arms - patting her on the head. "There there, girl; you did good..." He'd praise - before glancing over to Ettie and Anne, asking "Did you two have fun?"
"Yep; and I think Anne had lots of fun, too!" Ettie chirped in confirmation, giggling as she'd kneel down to pet Anne - murmuring a soft "You did great!" as she did. Like before, Anne would press her head up into Ettie's hand affectionately; somewhat exhausted from the fight, but feeling exhilarated nonetheless; murmuring a <Well fought.> to the Pumpkaboo. Even if she typically didn't like getting too close or being touched by strangers, a fight like this was a great way to let off all of that built up energy; just as it was for the Pumpkaboo herself!
Though, hearing sounds of fighting from back towards the road (including the sounds of something slamming into a tree, startlingly enough..!), Ettie would quickly remember what she had been up to before; namely, traveling with Koa and Tetsu...! Glancing in the Breeder's direction, she would offer him a bright smile - mentioning "Thank you for the fight, mister - I should go catch up with my friends, though, so byebye!"
Waving to each other as they did, Ettie would soon part from the Breeder to instead return to Tetsu's and Koa's sides; giggling happily all the while. Already, she could see the wild Bouffalant that Koa had fought slowly loping his way back into the wood, and the Ranger in question would be praising Azura - something that would put a warm smile on Ettie's face. "You must've had a fun spar with them, too, huh?" She'd question Azura; kneeling down to offer the little seal a pat on the head. "I got to spar with a trainer over that way, so Anne's probably feeling pretty good!"
All the while though, she would cast glances in Tetsu's direction - looking to see how he and Riku were doing as well!

"Heh good luck being the fastest! I won't be trailing off far behind either!" Tetsu told her, gently nudging her with a fist. Riku is honestly also a bit discomforted at the thought of Ettie running faster than even the four legged Anne. Well, Anne is small and her steps probably not gonna be as long as Ettie, but if she became a Lycanroc, she should be really huge herself... probably downright rideable even! But even then, he wonder if Ettie could run on four...
Ettie looked confused when Azura bwarked though. Tetsu thought that it was normal. Well, he doesn't have Popplio for that matter, but he knows that they bwark excitedly or snorts whenever they're trying to be threatening. Cute, they are. Hmm, could it maybe a sign that Popplios are also treated as canids? They're indeed caniformia, so he doesn't question this too much except... "How does that little one sounded to ya, Ettie?" Tetsu asked.
"Hmmm, considering Anne is a bit like my Rockruff at home... she's like... two times bigger than the natural one, I think? So she's probably will be really huge as a Lycanroc. Let's see... let's assume that a Lycanroc is this big, right?" Tetsu picked up a dead branch and make a line. Then, he walked some distance, and upon (roughly) measuring the length of a Lycanroc, he made another line. "...This would be a normal Lycanroc. But if you count Anne's current size, she might be... this big" and he walked a few steps and marked another place. "and this tall," he made a comparison with his own height using his hand, which ended up slightly taller than he is. "She'll be quite huge."
"Well, that's what my grandpa told me. He's a researcher."
Riku nodded in what looked like "sounds accurate" gesture. "Oh by the way, Riku is quite huge too for his species. Normally, a Riolu aren't this huge. He's kinda special!"
Riku in turn scratched his cheek in embarrassment, barking something along the line of <it wasn't that special>. As for Ettie though... "I wonder if you're a late grower. They said late growers could grow pretty tall. I'm a late grower too I think! My sister said that I might get a great deal taller! That's why I always drink Moomoo milks! They're delicious! Especially when you flavor them with various kind of berries, mmm~ Oh! That reminds me, want some?" Tetsu handed a bottle of said milk to Ettie. "I only got plain one though. As for Koa... Eeeh, I don't think you need more milk. Seeing someone as tall as you getting even taller like an Alolan Exeggutor would be pretty scary..."
...Tetsu sure got imagination as wild as his own boundless energy.
Hmm, brothers? Are they really brothers? Tetsu looked at Riku who looked back at him... and immediately, they did several movements that looked like "bro exchange" gestures. Slapping hands together, pounding a fist on top of another, followed with arm bump and finally brofist.
"Yeah! Flawless!" Tetsu exclaimed proudly. Riku merely shakes is head wryly. <Tetsu, childish> he would tell Ettie <but not bad.>

Hmm, looks like Koa isn't up for racing however! Ah well, he respects someone who cares about his Pokemons! So he's fine not able to race with Koa! But Pokemon being out and about huh... At this, he rummaged his side pocket for a Pokeball.
"Sorry that reminds me... can I call out another Pokemon? I think maybe he will appreciate a bit of company... Um, he's not aggressive at all, I promise! He's just... a bit broody I guess? He rarely talks like Riku.. and well it's not like I fully understand what he want to talk about anyway..."
Maybe he'll appreciate more company... with that thoughts in mind, he tossed the Pokeball above, releasing the Pokemon inside. It revealed itself to be a bigger-than-usual Scyther. At first, the Scyther seem to think that he was called out for a battle, readying his scythe in a cautionary move... but immediately, he felt the mood was different from those of a battle. He blinked, first at Tetsu, then at Riku, and finally at newcomers.
<This guy, strong. Name, Schizen,> Riku explained to Ettie. <No like to talk, so Riku don't know a lot>.
Schizen looked curiously at Ettie, chittering something at Riku. Riku nodded and tried to translate <Schizen asks: Ettie understand Pokemons? He curious.>
Tetsu is of course tilting his head because he doesn't quite understand what these two are talking about... but even then, looks like there's a middle ground that is Ettie... hope that with Ettie (and Riku)'s help, he can learn more about Schizen. After all, he have no idea if he could help this guy if he couldn't understand him all that well. Not helping that Schizen doesn't even want to talk or to mingle with other Pokemons, which leads to various problems in itself.
"Well, what do you think of the new crowd, Schi--" before Tetsu could finish his sentence, there was a rustling somewhere... What came out was a Bulbasaur, slightly quiet and yet looking quite determined. Schizen immediately raised his arm scythes in attempt to intimidate the incoming Pokemon... yet the Bulbasaur only looked ahead, as if trying to gauge what's up with these party.
Poking its head out of water is a Slowpoke... huh? It seems to be slightly bothered. Slowpokes are very slow... so Tetsu isn't sure if she's bothered prior or just now. But she doesn't seem to appreciate her rest getting disturbed. She let out a Growl! In turn, Schizen gave the other Pokemon a nasty Leer. But either because the Slowpoke got nerves of steel or because she's slow, she doesn't seem to care the slightest.
"...Wow, that one Pokemon... she's probably a good addition to the team, don't you think?" Tetsu asked Riku, who sighed and shrugged. "Eh? But I thought it's a great pick!"
But either way, seeing the other two fighting, the Bulbasaur looked at Riku, seem to be eager to try out his mettle too. Riku in response glared back, yet with more friendlier tone than Schizen and the Slowpoke. Just at that time, he tossed a Pokeball at Tetsu. Eh!?
"Wait, you got one?" Tetsu asked, to which Riku replied with a thumb up. "...Drats, so you're the one who's been holding it...?"

While Ettie seem to be preoccupied with a breeder battle (darn, he kinda wanted to battle against a trainer too!) and Azura is fighting against a small Bouffalant (Daisy is bigger, he kinda wonders how that beautiful lady doing... must be skipping along with Borzil. And with Borzil he hoped that the guy doesn't get lost the same way his big brother Mithris do.) Eh! Concentrate! He can't suddenly think of different things here when his Pokemons are fighting!
"Schizen, I want to capture that Slowpoke, can I count on you to weaken her enough?" Tetsu asked.
Schizen tilted his head for a moment before nodding. Hmmm? Could it be that he doesn't understand what's good about this Slowpoke? Well.. first of all Tetsu likes her personality, and on top of that it looked she got some gusto. Plus he doesn't have that many psychic type. Maybe he he could get that one to evolve into a Slowking (Slowqueen?) it would be great!
At Riku's side meanwhile, without being ordered by Tetsu, he decided to test his mettle. Honestly, he's not sure that he can win considering the typing difference. The Bulbasaur resists fighting type, and all he got for normal type moves are Quick Attack... But even so, he guess it should do. The bulbasaur attacked with Vine Whip! Riku immediately strafed, but the whip managed to slap his arm. Not the best power thanks to the dodge, but still pretty hurt. He hissed in pain before attacking with Sky Uppercut! The force managed to launch the Bulbasaur airborne, but it looked like the Bulbasaur ain't going to give up easily either! Using its vines, the Bulbasaur swung on a branch and using the momentum, tackled Riku! But the Riolu isn't easily going down either! He was ready to counter the move, seizing the initiative with Quick Attack! The Bulbasaur, instead of hitting his target, was pushed backward, the momentum became his undoing. Feeling like he lost compared to his rival, the Bulbasaur conceded. Riku nodded in respect before thanking him for the good match. It was only two hits each, but honestly if they do more than this, they'll be too wounded to even continue fighting if something bad happened.
...As for Schizen...
Both Schizen and the Slowpoke is locked in a glaring match. Leer and growl. One move lowers defense, another lowers attack. No one giving up. The Slowpoke.. is either smart or type that would answer a contest with another show of power. Either way she's a diva. A difficult kind, but isn't the worst to be honest! Tetsu likes Pokemon with strong personality! But still, they need to decide this...
"Quick Attack!"
The moment the move is called, the Slowpoke attempted to dive, but she wasn't fast enough. Schizen did a chop like movement with the dull side of his blade. The move managed to surprise the Slowpoke, but to Tetsu's surprise, she immediately countered with a body tackle! Wow, he did not expect that! He thought that Slowpokes aren't that fast! But looks like he was proven wrong!

Already, more and more, he felt comfortable with getting this one Pokemon inside his team. If he failed then so be it, but at the moment? He's honestly charmed by the sassiness and the Pokemon's bravery. Schizen admittedly was also impressed, but it's not like he shows it to anyone. He could have used his Fury Cutter, but if he uses that move, without doubt that Slowpoke would have been knocked out, and in that case Tetsu can't catch it!
But enough of that. Tetsu immediately readied the Pokeball. Just a bit more. He need to make it even weaker... If that Pokemon could use growl one more time...
"...Fool around a bit, Schizen. Pretend to attack, but actually just intimidate!" Tetsu ordered. Schizen raised his arms, trying to look intimidating, and true enough, looks like Tetsu's order hasn't been fully registered by the Slowpoke. She growled. At this moment, Tetsu ordered another quick attack, which thankfully gave him the needed weakening. Using the Pokeball, he attempted a capture!
Riku barked, telling Tetsu that his own battle is already finished. As for Tetsu though, He's still eagerly waiting for the ball to stop. He's hoping that he can catch it, but if he can't... well, then so be it he guess.
He looked at his travel companions. Koa has won his battle, while Ettie seem to just finished hers... and won quite the bounty herself! Man, that's really something enviable!
"Looks like you guys are doing well on your side!" Tetsu commented. "I'm not doing that bad myself. Schizen is helping me capturing this Slowpoke... she's quite the character, and I honestly like Pokemons with strong personality... she's even a small one too, so that's a plus! I hope that she want to join me in my journey though, would be nice!"
That aside, though, he's curious on how the other fared. Especially Ettie who have to fare against a trainer.
"How did you go, Ettie?" Tetsu asked the lupine raised girl "I think it was like... Three against one, was it? Or only one of them fought against Anne?" Budew on Rockruff would be really tough, but so does Pumpkaboo. Sucker punch though probably helped a lot in this case, all thing considered. Anne is probably quite proud too from the win. He'd like to pat her, but that probably not gonna be appreciated by the Rockruff.
"Koa, too, you did great! Azura is pretty tough isn't she? Riku, what do you think of your opponent this time?"
Riku made a gesture that says that his opponent was creative, by tapping his head. "Oooh. a creative one, huh... I think you should teach that to Jazz back at home!"
Riku nodded in agreement. He probably would.

Koa watched as the others worked on their own battles, with Ettie excitedly having Anne battle another trainer's Pumpkaboo. She seemed to have a natural instinct on type advantages and considered her options carefully. Even if it was luck, it was still impressive how handily Ettie and Anne won that particular battle. Though he was definitely curious about Ettie's ability to understand some Pokemon. How exactly did that come about? It seemed easier with certain Pokemon over others. Canines or at least canine-like were the ones she understood the most, as evident from her overall ability to understand Azura.
Thankfully Ettie's opponent was amicable and a good sport, and that was always something to be appreciative of. He may have had to step in as a Ranger if there was a problem. "Good job, Ettie! You're a natural!" He complimented with a bright smile. He cradled Azura and played with her flippers idly. He chuckled at Tetsu's observation that Azura was pretty strong. "This isn't the first time she's been battling! We battled in another region for a while when I first became a ranger. I have other Pokemon at customs that should be ready for pickup as soon as I get to Shire Town. The rest I caught back then I sent to my mom in Alola. She appreciates the company, especially since a lot of them were so mellow."
Azura barked happily at Ettie, appreciating that everyone noticed her battling. Koa pet the top of her head "Me and Azura are pretty in-sync. We've known each other for quite a few years, after all! She's my very first Pokemon." He said as Azura cuddled him. "The two of you did pretty well too! Nice catch by the way Tetsu! Slowpoke's are pretty great." He said and gave a thumbs up to him and his Scyther.
As the group got settled after that particular battle, Koa looked at everyone. "Hm...what to do to pass the time..." He mused as Malik hopped off his head and onto the floor, hopping across the road "H-hey, Malik what's up!" The Froakie looked back and hopped in place a few times. Koa laughed "Well it looks like he got his energy back. Looks like we can go for a bit of a run then." He placed Azura in his bag "Hold on tight, alright Azura?" He asked as Azura barked and nodded. He began with a jogging pace to catch up to Malik. "It's a good day for a run anyway." Koa said as Azura seemed delighted by the turn of events.

As Tetsu called out Schizen, Ettie couldn't help a curious tilt of her head, looking the Scyther up and down briefly. For sure, she wouldn't be able to understand this pokemon very well; a Scyther wasn't quite as canine-adjacent as a Popplio was, after all! Thankfully though, Riku would be here to act as a translator - helping introduce Schizen, and pass on the Scyther's question. Thus, Ettie would smile brightly as she introduced herself to Schizen - chirping "It's nice to meet you, Schizen! My name is Ettie, and this is my sister, Anne!"
Anne, briefly, would make a wordless bark of greeting.
At the question of her understanding pokemon though, Ettie nodded in confirmation. "I can understand some pokemon! Mostly pokemon like Anne, and Riku, and my pack, though. I can sorta understand Azura over there, too! Although, her words are a bit harder to make out than Anne's or Riku's are." She'd explain with a nod. "Any other sorts of pokemon besides them are really hard for me to understand, though; the words they say don't really sound like words that I know, and they don't make sense to me." For pokemon she couldn't understand, their words sounded like another language entirely.
Their conversations wouldn't be able to go much further from there, however; with everyone's respective fights prompting them to be distracted from one another. It was only after their fights that the group would reform, Ettie's eyes lighting up and her aura tail wildly wagging at all of the praise that she would get from Koa! She did good! He was happy! Yay!!! This excitement would linger even as Tetsu approached to ask how she and Anne did - prompting her to giggle happily. "Only the Pumpkaboo wanted to fight; but Anne won! She did really really good!"
As Tetsu praised Koa and Azura though, and Koa spoke about how he had been in another region before, the young girl would blink curiously. So Azura had some experience under her belt? That made sense! "What friends are you picking up at Shire Town, Koa?" Ettie would ask as she reached over to pet Azura as well; gently scritching the little Popplio behind the ear. When Azura would make a happy wordless bark at Ettie, the young girl couldn't help but giggle and respond with an equally happy "Arf!" of her own!
Even as they were winding down from the fights though, Malik seemed eager to go for a run - something that would prompt Ettie to perk up eagerly. "We can run??" She'd question - though nobody would have much of a chance to respond before she exclaimed "We can run!!!" and darted off, eager to run alongside Malik and Koa!
Anne, meanwhile, would simply sigh as she darted off to keep pace with Ettie.

"Ossha!" After capturing the Pokemon, Tetsu pumped his fist to the air. That was a clean capture! Schizen picked up the pokeball with his mouth and carried it over to Tetsu, who accepted it gratefully. "Hmm let's see... this one, I'll name her Slodiva I think!" he decided. Then, he looked back at the group.
Schizen who got his answer nodded, seem to be satisfied with the answer. He chittered again to Riku who nodded to translate. <Schizen thank Ettie for answer. Schizen ask: Ettie just have Anne? Pack, where? Anne, Rockruff. Rockruff lives in pack. Rutile says so.> upon noticing that Ettie might have no idea who is this Rutile, Riku added an explanation. <Rutile, Rockruff friend. Anne, same size. Rutile, not blue. Very bossy, a bit annoying, but means well.>
As for Tetsu who can't understand the Pokemons speaking, he decided to talk with Koa. "Oh, customs? Right, I got mine still on hold too. Well most of them are registered as lab Pokemons so legally I can't really take them out from the lab until the customs gave me a clear that they're not part of invasive species... But really, I have quite numbers of Pokemon befriended! I think... it's close to forty or so?"
Company huh... "Heh, I feel ya there. My grandpa is aging and I feel the Pokemons would be nice companions for him, but he says he got too many, and he prefer to be left alone with his Stoutland. Well, that in itself is fine. And yeah! Slowpokes are pretty great! I hope in the future I'll get a King's Rock! Would be pretty nice to have a Slowking... errr.. Slowqueen in this case?"
OH! Now they can run? "Alright! I'm going to run with you guys then! Ah! Schizen, would you like to return or run?"
The Scyther seem to decide that he prefers flying outside the Pokeball for the meantime! Alright! Time to continue the journey!
"Speaking of which, what do you guys want to do first when you got to Shire? Me, I'd like to look for a job probably! I heard they're hiring some mailmen, so I'll do that I think!"
