Ettie's ability to understand Pokemon at all without a translator was incredible...it led credence to the claim that she lived among them her entire life, something that Koa felt was a bit sad, but she still seemed happy about her life. In the end that's all that really mattered. Though it had Koa wonder what exactly happened to her family? Her parents? Did something happen? Was she abandoned? He wouldn't dare bring that up now, or at all unless she decided to talk about it.
He smiled softly as they all ran together, Ettie asking who he was going to pick up "Let's see...I have a Mienfoo named Toki, a Fomantis named Sakuya, and a Snom named Seina. I caught Toki at my old post...and both Sakuya and Seina I hatched from eggs. Seina's egg was a gift from a friend." He explained as they ran.
Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun traveling together. Azura barked happily at the jog while Malik gave a tiny smile of his own as he hopped alongside everyone. Tetsu seemed elated to have caught the Slowpoke. It seemed like something he wanted, so Koa was happy for his success. He spoke about how his grandpa was getting up there in years and preferred a life with his Stoutland, something Koa found respectable. "My dad works for the Aether Foundation so he's gone a lot. My mom and dad are used to having a lot of Pokemon around during business."
As for what he planned on doing when they got to Shire "I'm not sure. First off I'm going to pick up my Pokemon for sure. I might go around catching some more since I need to prove to the rangers I can catch Pokemon without battling them. If I can prove that I can apply for a promotion since I'm still considered a newbie to the region, which is fair." He said. He looked over at Ettie "What about you? Any plans for your first big trip?"
He paused for a moment and looked over at the side of the road. He walked over for a moment and found a bottle...it was a potion..? Wait, from the design, it was a Max Potion? Who would just leave this on the side of the road? It was full too! He dusted it off and put it in his backpack.

As Schizen nodded, Ettie would nod back and smile; happy to see that they were still able to hold a somewhat proper conversation, even with the language barrier, thanks to Riku. Before long though, the Scyther would have more questions - to which Ettie would blink, her expression going sheepish. "Ah... Maybe 'my' pack isn't the right word? It's technically Mom's pack!" She'd clarify with a brief embarrassed giggle, scratching the back of her head. "Me and Anne were raised by Momma, and we recently left the pack to see the civilized parts of the world, and to form a pack of our own!"
Anne would briefly bark in wordless confirmation, nodding; though she would also tilt her head a little, admittedly curious about the notion of Tetsu having a Rockruff like herself. That Rutile was 'very bossy' though probably didn't bode well as far as whether or not they'd get along went, though.
As Koa named the different pokemon that he was going to pick up though, Ettie's eyes would light up, happy to see that she recognized a couple of the species! "I bet they'll be happy to see their friend and papa, then!" She'd chirp to Koa without a second thought - cause really, if Koa had raised Sakuya and Seina from their eggs, that did make him their papa - right? It made sense to her! "What're they like, by the way?"
As the group ran and jogged together though, Tetsu and Koa would talk about what they wanted to do once they got to Shire. While Koa wanted to work on getting a promotion and picking up his pokemon, and Tetsu wanted to look for a job, Ettie had to think for a second; her aura ears twitching thoughtfully as she considered the question. "Maybe I'll be a mailman, with Tetsu?" She'd wonder out loud, tilting her head a bit as she glanced in the young boy's direction. "I definitely wanna explore Shire lots and lots, though! The closest I've ever been to a town or city with my family was always at the edges; so this is gonna be really super new to me!"
<Just don't wander far.> Anne would remind Ettie - to which the young girl giggled, nodding to her sister. "I know, I knowww~"
(Anne, honestly, wasn't sure if Ettie would know, once they entered the city proper. The girl was prone to getting distracted so easily!)
And speaking of distractions - while Koa would pause to pick up a Max Potion, a rustling in a nearby bush would draw Ettie's and Anne's attentions; the duo glancing over, and coming to a stop. Slowly, curiously, Ettie would approach the bush - her head tilting one way, and then the other - and call out a soft "Helloooo?" In response, a soft chatter would sound from the bush - and popping its head out would be none other than a Panpour!
The little monkey pokemon would hop out from the bush, bouncing eagerly - clearly unbothered to the presence of other pokemon and humans. In fact, it seemed his attentions would be on Anne - chittering to the Rockruff in a rather friendly fashion! Anne, in response, would tilt her head a little - seeming slightly curious - although also a bit puzzled. <... A fight?> She would respond in her usual low and calm tone.

Further chittering - though Ettie couldn't understand the Panpour's side of the conversation, she was still able to glean some idea of what was going on from the Panpour's tone, and Anne's own side of the conversation. In response, Anne would make a soft <Hmm.> before nodding; crouching down in preparation. <A fight, then.>
Ohhh, did the Panpour want a spar with Anne? "Eheheh; good luck, Anne!" Ettie would chirp, kneeling down to pat the Rockruff's head. Briefly, Anne would press her head up into Ettie's hand, before stepping away from the group - so that she and the Panpour had room to fight. As soon as both combatants were in place, though - Anne hunkering down with her fur bristling like a Poochyena's...
... They would both dart at each other, raring to go!
For the first exchange of attacks, it was mostly both of them gauging each other - the Panpour coming in for a Scratch! Anne, though, would be prepared - and in response, she would dart in to strike at the monkey with her signature Sucker Punch! The exchange of attacks would both land - but it was clear that Anne got the better deal; her Sucker Punch hitting harder, whilst the Scratch barely hurt against her stiff and wiry fur, as a Rock-type!
Seeing that a straightforward attack would likely not put any sort of dent on Anne, the Panpour would quickly change tactics - letting out a low chatter and glaring her down with a Leer, to reduce her defense! Anne was quick to react as well, however; turning around, and kicking at the dirt with her hind claws, to toss a Sand Attack in the Panpour's face!
In response, Panpour would next attempt a Play Nice; quickly switching his previous intimidating demeanor out for something more cutesy and friendly, putting on an endearing act of chittering at Anne to reduce her attack! The stalwart pup, however, would only respond with a growl as she used Leer in response; clearly keen on not letting the Panpour handicap her anytime soon.
As a result, either combatant would soon cease in the debuff tactics; soon returning to an exchange of attacks, Anne opening up with a Tackle to avoid being tripped up in the event that the Panpour didn't actually use an attack! The Panpour, in response, would Scratch right back at Anne; only narrowly hitting the Rockruff, but nonetheless landing. Anne, however, was quick to follow up with a Sucker Punch when the Panpour would attempt to press the offensive - and this time around, was able to dance away from the retaliating Scratch just in time!
Before long, it would take but one more strike from Anne to knock away the Panpour; the monkey pokemon chittering in surrender, as he flopped backwards on the ground in a somewhat dramatic fashion. Anne, letting out a heavy huff, would shake herself out - letting off the nervous energy, and strying to relieve the tension and ache in her muscles from having gone through two fights by now. She was starting to get tuckered out!
Ettie would smile brightly though - approaching Anne, as the Panpour finally got up and disappeared into the foliage once more. "You did great, Anne!" She would praise her sister, patting the Rockruff on the head. "How're you feeling?"
<Tired.> Anne huffed, pressing her head up into Ettie's hand. <But okay.>

The Scyther seem to be satisfied with Ettie's reply. He chattered a bit at Riku before buzzing away to rejoin his trainer instead. Riku translated soon after. <Schizen wish Ettie and Anne good luck. And...> he seem to hesitated a bit before adding <he said "good friend, pick well. Pick bad, friend bad."> Perhaps it's something that have to do with the Scyther's past. Riku did not seem to know either.
Huh, Ettie interested on being mailman with him? "Heheh, sure! With your help I think we'll be able to deliver quite a lot of letters! ...But, sorry if this sounds rude, but can you write or read?" he asked. He knows that Ettie can talk, but as of the reason why she can talk human language, that he have no idea. Perhaps she was raised by human before, and ended up in care of a Lycanroc... but whether he wanted to verify that theory, he doesn't feel like it. He just met her after all! Plus, isn't it more exciting to find more about her as they become closer friends?
Oh, and let's not forget the idea that the Lycanroc might be special! What if she's so special that she could teach her through telepathy? Or perhaps.. perhaps!? Talking Pokemon!? He have heard a tale of a talking Meowth. Apparently while the voice sounded hoarse, and sometimes not quite human, it can perfectly talk with two humorous person, someone with purple hair and another with really long rosy hair. They're known to be ironically incompetent and very competent at the same time. Only Arceus knows whether it's true or not, however.
Huh, Koa's information caught his attention "What's Aether Foundation is like?" Tetsu asked. "I have heard of them a bit, but I'm not aware of what exactly is their mission and such. All I know is that they have such beautiful building that made me pretty jealous. Would love to have one of those as base, honestly. One that's pretty much a building that's also merged with nature... I'd like that sort of sanctuary."
While Koa found a max potion, Ettie have to fight a Panpour... in Tetsu's case, he...
"Ah! It's the wounded Scyther from back then!"
"Hmn?" turning around, he found a Bug Catcher... a kid that's slightly younger than he is. "Do you mean my Schizen? What with him?"
"What? You caught him? Aw man, I thought I could have caught him too... I have been observing him for a while! This guy here, you know, he's part of a Scyther group! He's the biggest one around in that group! I thought if I could catch him it would be neat. He felt like the tactical guy."
Tactical... well that's true. Schizen has been quite tactical with his usage of technique. It might felt a bit lackluster at first, but he shows signs that he could turn weaker moves to something quite strong...
"...Ah but it doesn't mean that I want to catch him now! But I'd like to test his strength, what do you say?"
Tetsu... quickly looked at Schizen, who looked as if he's troubled. However, he noticed Ettie and Riku, then chittered at them. Ah.
<Schizen asks Ettie, tell Tetsu: If fight, without use, prefer not fight. Good use, good fight. No use, fight useless.>

Once Ettie has translated what Riku said, Tetsu... looked at the bug catcher. "My Pokemon only want to fight if there's something in it for him."
"Huh? What? Something for him? Not for you?"
"Sometimes having something for me is a good thing... but... they're the one who fight most of the time. Just because I'm their trainer doesn't mean I should ignore their wishes. Just because I have them in my Pokeball doesn't mean I own them like slaves. They're my friends, my companions, my partners. And so, he only want to fight if he think you have something interesting to offer. That's what he said, according to my friend."
The Bug Catcher looked a bit skeptical, but he nodded. "I can respect that. Well how about this then? 60 pen, 1 Weapear Berry, 2 Clays and 3 Gold"
...Man, this guy is somewhat loaded huh. Tetsu looked at Schizen who shrugged. Seem he have no interest on the rewards per se.
"What, you're not interested?" the Bug Catcher asked.
"We're more interested of what you can offer to us in experience instead."
"Oooh! That kind of thing! I thought you're using your Pokemon as pretext to get more from me! Alright! Come out, Venipede!"
...Venipede. The moment Schizen saw it, he stepped forward as if he has found a jackpot. He nodded at Tetsu and chittered at Riku, who tried to translate it to Ettie. <Tetsu, has Venipede Egg. Schizen, want to help Tetsu understand Venipede. Fair price, fair fight.>
Still, it's a bit stronger than he is. Not to mention it have a type advantage... At the moment, even if Schizen have Flying type, he's yet to be able to use Flying type moves. In short... It'll be a hard fight. Thankfully he was only wounded by pound last time... so it should be fine... hopefully. Schizen nodded at Tetsu, trying to reassure him that he'll be OK. The Scyther immediately beats his wings, reaching hovering height.
With that said... "...Well then let's start! Schizen, Leer!"
"Leer!? Venipede, Poison Sting!"
"Dodge!"
Focusing on Leering have its good side. Schizen have more timeframe to dodge to the side. And not only that... "Quick Attack!"
"Give 'em Pound, Venipede!"
Due to initiative of Quick Attack, Schizen flew past the Venipede's attack and gave the Pokemon a body slam. The impact sound sounded a bit too loud for just a simple quick attack.
"Whuh!? Drats! Venipede, another Pound!"
"Brace for impact!"
Schizen doesn't have the luxury to dodge this time around, and instead braced for an attack. The friction on his scythe arm made him grit his teeth in pain.
"Now! Another quick attack!"
Schizen forced the Venipede downward, and used her size as a vault. Immediately after, he slashed at it.
"The strength was too strong! Was that really a Quick Attack!? Venipede, Poison Sting!"
"Fury Cutter!"
It was supposed to be not so effective due to typing, but thanks to Schizen's own Technician ability, the attack become strong enough to overpower the Poison Sting, scoring the last damage needed to defeat the Venipede.
"Uwah!? How can this be... Wait... so that means..."
"Yeah, Schizen's ability is Technician. It powers up his weaker moves... and that's the reason of your loss."
"...Well a loss is a loss. I can see why he's special. I'll pay up!"
"Much appreciated!"
OOC Note: Tetsu wins the fight.

Koa paused for a bit before blushing vividly "P-Papa?" He repeated, a little surprised that anyone would consider him a father to his Pokemon. He did love his team very much but he never really considered himself anything similar to a father figure. When asked what they were like, he thought for a moment "Sakuya was...pretty cranky as a baby. All she wanted to do was sleep and absorb sunlight, which was fair. It's what their species needs to grow and evolve, but she was especially angry when people woke her up. She would cling to me and glare at anyone who disturbed her. It was cute in its own way but she eventually started to become more active and vibrant with the rest of the team and strangers alike."
Then there was Seina "Seina's egg was a gift from a friend of mine. I've always wanted a Snom, and they happened to have recently bred their Frosmoth, so they left her egg in my care. Seina's very big for a Snom. Very very big, but she's the sweetest little thing. She'll squish into you and give you the cutest little expressions if you hold her though she's also very mindful of her temperature. She doesn't like to make people uncomfortable."
He listened as Ettie mused about doing a mail delivery job with Tetsu "Just be sure to follow the instructions very closely. Delivering mail is extremely important and you don't want to accidentally give letters to people they're not addressed to." He said, but otherwise left it at that. Meanwhile, Ettie would find herself in the middle of another battle, this time with a Panpour. Once again Anne displayed impressive battle skills, though was clearly getting tired after the back to back fights, which he couldn't blame her for. He applauded once it was clear that Anne was the winner of the battle.
When asked by Tetsu what the Aether Foundation was like, he tried to figure out how to explain it "It's complicated. They're devoted to conservation efforts for Pokemon all around the world. They're part of the reason why Alolan Pokemon are so well protected. They prevent tourists from over catching them and disturbing our islands' ecosystem. Though some years ago they were responsible for an enormous Ultra Beast related disaster. My father had nothing to do with it as he was away in Hoenn at the time. He told me he was disgusted by the CEO's actions, but they seem to be picking themselves back up again in terms of reputation."
Then Tetsu found himself battling a trainer that seemed to really want that Scyther that belonged to Tetsu. They seemed boastful and wanted to prove himself against Tetsu, but his knowledge of his Pokemon's innate skills and battle tactics won the day. Ettie and Tetsu...these two were pretty skilled trainers. Tetsu by observation, Ettie by instinct. It was definitely fun to watch.

At Koa's seemingly bewildered pausing and flustering, Ettie would giggle; smiling brightly, and nodding without any hesitation. "Yeah! Papa!" She'd repeat in agreement, continuing in a rhetorical question "You raised Sakuya and Seina yourself, from their eggs - like what parents do - so doesn't that make you their papa? It makes sense to me!" ... There didn't seem to be much room for arguing with her on that; as far as she could see, it was plain and obvious that Koa was the two's papa!
And hearing of Sakuya and Seina both would make Ettie giggle happily. "They both sound adorable! I'd love to meet both of them and Toki, once we reach Shire!" She'd add, her aura tail wagging eagerly. "Do you think they'd like to play with me and Anne, at all?" You could never go wrong with more friends; more friends were always great!
Next though, was the talk of the mail delivery job - which Tetsu and Koa would both have their own comments on. As Koa reminded Ettie to make sure that she follow the instructions as close as possible, the young girl would giggle and nod in understanding; responding "I know, I'll be good!" with a bright smile. She didn't want to get into trouble straight away, after all; and mail was probably super important! And on top of that, she was sure that Tetsu could help if she did get off track!
Tetsu's question as to whether she actually knew how to read, though, would make the young girl pause for a second, thinking. "... ... Mmmmaaaayyybeee...?" She'd say with an uncertain and awkward hue, tilting her head. She kinda knew letters! Kind of! That was enough to be able to read, right..?? She certainly didn't want that to be a problem, at the very least!
(Anne, for the most part, would just sigh and facepaw; shaking her head.)
As Tetsu and Koa ended up talking about the Aether Foundation though, Ettie would tilt her head a bit curiously - as she had never heard of the Aether Foundation before - listening closely. From what she could gather, they had a very pretty nature-oriented base, and that although they originally had a bit of a bad rep, they were all about helping conservation efforts for pokemon, whatever that means.
But in particular, the young girl would tilt her head the other way as something curious came up - prompting her to ask "What are Ultra Beasts?" as they walked. She'd never heard of them before, but they sounded as though they were potentially bad, if they had caused some form of disaster...
... Though before long, Tetsu would get into a fight against a bug catcher - something that Ettie was keen to watch, curious to see how it would go! Giggling happy, the young girl would sit down cross-legged in the grass - pumping a fist in the air as she called "Good luck, Tetsu!"
As the fight went on, even a brave little (or perhaps more accurately, large!) Shroomish would peer out from a bush to watch the fight as well - and Ettie, initially, was a bit curious of the mushroom pokemon. When Anne went to sniff it and began having a sneezing fit though, the young girl couldn't help but laugh sympathetically - mentioning "Maybe we should leave them be, Anne," as she pulled the Rockruff into her lap.
<... Smells dusty.> Is all that Anne would have to say in response, rubbing at her nose with a paw as she settled in her sister's lap.
It wasn't too much longer before Tetsu would win with Schizen, though, the Shroomish would soon depart back into the wild; and Ettie, being the eager girl she was, would practically howl a little whoop of excitement in the young boy's direction! "You guys did great!" She would chirp, giggling as she applauded, and got back up onto her feet. "That was fun to watch! Did you all have fun?"

To Ettie's answer that she had no idea whether she can read or not... made Tetsu chuckle. "Right, we'll get to it when we get to it!" he answered, grinning widely.
"Ah, Ultra Beasts..." Tetsu nodded in understanding hearing that. Yes, most thing about Aether that people would immediately think about when they heard about Aether Foundation is indeed "Ultra Beast incident". Honestly, he had no idea why suddenly a group that was so into preserving ecosystem and Pokemon wellbeing suddenly decided that they would like to introduce invasive species with unknown nature. More of that, he have yet to know much, but honestly... It was scary.
"Oh I'm sorry if I sounded like I'm accusing of something... I'm actually just curious why would the CEO open the gate... like... isn't it against the foundation's own mission or something along that line? It's just... a bit of a shock to me so to say..."
And came Ettie's question. What is Ultra Beasts? ...Tetsu looked pensive for a bit before answering. "...Let's see... what's is ultra beast huh... So... as you know, probably... there are tons of Pokemons in this world. There are pokemons that are unique only to certain region... for example..." Tetsu showed picture of Galarian, Kantonian and Alolan Meowth. "These three are Meowths. This one is Galarian, this one is Kantonian, and finally this one is Alolan. The first came from Galar, the third came from Alola... the second spreads over the world and they're usually the most usually found Meowth in places. Now... uh...
There are approximately, without counting the regional form differences... 898 registered Pokemons in Pokedex. This 898 doesn't include Pokemons that yet discovered, or Pokemons that yet registered in National Pokedex. This, apparently includes Legendary Pokemons. Whether yay or nay that is though, is unknown... Now, among that 898... 11 are the so called "Ultra Beasts". I don't have their picture with me, and it's probably a classified information in Pokedex, or just "hearsays"... But what we know is that they came not from this world, but from somewhere else. Another world. By all intent and purposes, Ultra Beasts ARE Pokemon, but because they're not from this world, they're called Ultra Beasts. However, because the Ultra Beasts are Pokemons that isn't discovered in this world, they behaved rather... strange for us. Like, we're seeing something that doesn't work like Pokemons we know.
To them, they don't know what happened too. Imagine suddenly transported from a forest you know to the middle of a city, won't you panic? That was what caused the Ultra Beast mayhem. The ultra beasts have no idea what to do with themselves, and in turn lashed out in fear... or so I think."
Riku barked <Ultra beasts, I heard they love something specific. Came to this world, no idea what to do. Search for comfort. Comfort does not mean all good. Cause disaster for human and other Pokemon.>
"Anyway, that's the gist of it. Is... is the explanation easy enough?"

When Ettie howled at his win, Tetsu can't help but to howl too! Heh, his habit of mimicking Pokemon's behavior kind of kicking in! Hearing Tetsu's howl, Riku also howled in victory. Schizen seem to not expect a howling salutations from the group, but it seems their feeling is transmitted to him as he smirked a bit. He chittered to Riku answering Ettie's question, to which Riku swiftly translated
<Schizen said 'fight is not for fun, but for benefit'. He said he won, so he gained something. However, he likes improvement, so he's happy.>
"Hmm, as long as my Pokemon is happy, I'm happy too!" Tetsu answered to Ettie's question. "And looks like all of us are happy so that's great!"
"Ahem, in that case, would you mind to spare me a bit of your time?" suddenly a voice called out. This time around a fairy girl appeared. "Your Scyther is indeed strong... and I'd like to ask him help me train my little Spiritzee if you don't mind."
"...Huh? But doesn't that means he'll win easily?"
"For the sake of my training, can you hold back a little perhaps?"
Tetsu looked at Schizen who shrugged and chittered, while rubbing his scythe together.
"Ah I don't need translation for that one. How about these? It's just a bit of pocket money... but I'll toss in one Tamato Berry, three golds and two sands. If I win I'll still give it to you of course."
Sounded a bit skeevy, but this girl is asking for a training, not for a fight... so regardless it's still the same... But at the same time...
"Why not just my Riolu then? I'm sure he's strong enough."
"Riolu is definitely a good Pokemon, but I'm afraid my little Pinkie won't really get any experience fighting against Pokemon she have advantage against, even if your Riolu happened to be stronger. I'm sorry, no offense meant."
"...Ah, I get what you mean. Alright. Schizen, you think you're up to it?" Tetsu asked his Scyther. The green mantoid immediately walked forward and brandished his arm scythe. He chittered as if saying that he's fine giving the second priority on this one.
"Alright, let's go Spritzee! Start with Sweet Scent!"
The field was filled with pink-ish mist that wafts sweet scent. Schizen taps the ground with the tip of his scythe. Ah, right, Tetsu told him this gesture. It means "hold". As in, he will not take order this time around.
"Pass."
"Alright, this time around, sweet kiss!"
9mZ4m6trp_
It missed! The kiss did not hit! Schizen tapped the ground again, this time twice. He'll only give one more chance huh...
"Again!"
p_ This time it hits! Schizen looked confused because the sudden kiss. However, this is the last one... "Quick Attack!" p_ Schizen managed to control himself enough to launch a quick attack at the Spritzee. His superior level and his speed managed to help him score a hit!
"That's it!"
"Don't get too cocky now! Spritzee! Fairy Wind!"
"Hang on and use Fury Cutter!"
p_
Whatever caused it, it seems the confusion faded immediately! After being hit by fairy wind, Schizen immediately attacked the fairy type Pokemon with Fury Cutter, a critical one at it, sealing the win.
"...Whew... so strong..."
"Yeah, he's strong! Thanks for the battle! Oh and... Riku do you have any sprays?"
Riku sighed and rummaged his "pocket" for a potion. He immediately tossed it to Tetsu who deftly catches it. He grinned and thanked the Riolu and sprayed Schizen with the potion.

There really wasn't much Koa could argue when it came to Ettie comparing him to being the Pokemons' parent. He did raise them from the moment they were born so it stands to reason that he was technically their parent. Did they really see him as such, though? He thought about it for a moment as he adjusted his glasses, his hand covering his growing blush. Part of him still felt insecure about the admiration his Pokemon gave him as well as the praise others gave him over raising them. "I...th-thanks, Ettie. I appreciate that. And they might like playing! They're pretty laid back and prefer to relax. They're definitely not going to be the type to really be able to play tag. They're not the fastest Pokemon out there but I'm sure they'd appreciate the company no matter what."
"The Ultra Beasts..." Koa thought about how to explain it "They're strange creatures from another dimension that I suppose are technically Pokemon since they can be captured, though they have a resistance to your every day Pokeball. There's a special type of ball meant specifically to catch them, but they're hard to manufacture and extremely expensive from what I've been told. Ultra Beasts are...extremely dangerous in a way that's hard to describe. Pokemon can sometimes cause trouble or damage property, but that's nothing compared to the havoc they can cause. It's why when they appear it's a number one priority to locate and subdue them." From how he described them, it seemed that Koa had some firsthand experience in how the Beasts behaved.
For the time being, Koa watched Ettie and Anne interact with a wandering Shroomish, then witnessed a fight between Tetsu and another trainer. For the sake of training, the other trainer didn't opt for the type advantage Spritzee would have against Riku. There was something admirable about that willing challenge. It was a little touch and go with the early confusion status, but Schizen impressively managed to keep focus long enough to take the win.
Before he had a chance to speak to everyone again, Koa suddenly found himself surrounded. A group of Abra kept teleporting around him, one clearly much larger than the other two. They floated about curiously, though the smaller male of the trio seemed more nervous and sleepy than the others. The leader of the Abra focused on Koa, but Malik hopped over to face the large Psychic type. "Doesn't look like this one is interested in words or a gentle pat on the head, hm?" Koa mused. Was it some kind of test? Psychic types were strange and fascinating.
"Malik, Bubble!" He ordered as Malik hopped into the air and sprayed several small bubbles that popped painfully against the large boss Abra. In response, its closed eyes glowed with an eerie energy as Malik is flipped around slightly in midair, disorienting him as he crashes down into the ground. He shook himself off as the other Abra started to teleport in and out around him to further make him lose track of the one he was fighting. "Focus, Malik...they're not the ones you're after." Koa said as suddenly the boss appeared behind him "Quick, behind you! Use Pound!" He called out. Malik backflipped to avoid another wave of psychic energy. Malik lashed his tongue out to wrap around Abra before pulling himself towards it with a heavy strike to its head.
The Abra teleported out of Malik's grasp as it and the other three started to teleport at the same time, flickering around Malik in an attempt to avoid more hits. Once more he's bombarded with waves of psychic energy from the main one, unable to pinpoint where it is. The impact the confusion had on his vision made it difficult to tell proper size. That was, until the more timid, smaller Abra crashed into the other, leaving the large one unattended as the others stumbled away. "Try another Bubble, let's end this!" At Koa's command, Malik's vision finally adjusted enough for him to spray another stream of bubbles at the Abra. With a few pained winces, the Abra falls.
Once the Abras reorient themselves and teleport beside one another, the two shoot the timid Abra a glare and seemed to have some kind of psychic argument, though the boss stared at the smaller Abra, then at Koa. With a little nod, the boss and the other Abra vanished, but the other male stayed behind. Koa couldn't help but feel sympathy for the insecure little one before he approached. "You okay there little guy?" He asked as Malik perched on top of Koa's head. He wondered if this Abra was offering to come along, impressed by the battle. "Would you like to join us? You don't have to. You can go back with those two if that's what you would prefer." He said. Still, Koa readied a Pokeball "I'm going to use this, alright? If you'd like to come along, then feel free to stay inside the ball!" With that, he tossed the ball, and would allow the Abra to make his own decision.

As Koa thanked Ettie, the young girl would - admittedly - not exactly get what she was being thanked for - or at least, why she was being thanked for mentioning that Koa was like their papa. (Was it a compliment to be seen as a parental figure, she wondered?) But nonetheless, she would giggle and nod. "Of course!" She would chirp in response, the young smiling brightly as she always did. Making others happy always made her happy, too - especially when those others were friends!
And as Koa further elaborated that they might be down to play, but were more relaxed, Ettie would nod again - responding "That's okay! We could probably play something else, like hide and seek, or tug of war! And even if they don't wanna play, I'm happy to relax with them, too; I love snuggling up to friends and family on lazy days, when there's nothing to do." Which, that sounded like it'd be something that Sakuya and Sienna both would enjoy; even if Sakuya sounded as though she'd end up enjoying snuggling up to Koa more.
Before long though, Koa and Tetsu would both elaborate on and answer Ettie's question as to what Ultra Beasts were - and as they spoke, the girl would listen quietly and intently. Anne, too, was listening closely out of curiosity - her ears twitching and swiveling in their direction, even as her gaze was elsewhere; paying some attention to their surroundings, as alert as ever.
From what Ettie could gather though, these Ultra Beasts were pokemon not of this world - at least as far as hearsay and Koa's confirmations went - that were prone to causing trouble if they ever come and visit; either out of panic, or out of seeking something. However, they were - on top of all that - tough to subdue with normal pokeballs... Frowning thoughtfully, Ettie would nod a bit - responding "I think I understand?" with a brief tilt of her head. "They sound kind of scary, honestly... But it also sounds kinda sad, that there's ones that have gotten lost so far from their homes, and probably families and friends, too..."
<Lost, scared, hurt, all makes for dangerous.> Anne would muse out loud; knowing quite well those deep rooted instincts to lash out and protect oneself, when one feels backed into a corner in one regard or another. Glancing to Ettie in particular, the pup would add in a soft - sympathetic, even - tone <Might want to help. But, wouldn't be safe.>
As Tetsu eventually won his fight against the Bug Catcher though, he would - in response to Ettie's howl - howl right back, alongside Riku! The reaction to this response was practically instant; Ettie's aura ears perking straight up in an alert fashion, and even her tail perking a bit - as if she were surprised - before beginning to wag like mad! Giggling happily, she would bounce forward to Tetsu, wrapping her arms around him in a big hug as she exclaimed with glee "You howled back! Like we're packmates!" Even Anne seemed to share in this happiness, her tail wagging as well as she approached the group. Was she getting more comfortable, with being near everyone else?

Ettie hadn't expected any of the humans she'd meet to be like her or the canine pokemon she knew, if she had been honest. She hadn't expected any of them to get her or her more canid quirks - although to be honest, she had never given it much thought in the first place. But Tetsu seemed to get it; they got to howl as a pack! They were expressing themselves and sharing in eachothers' feelings; all summed up in that long call that vibrated in one's chest in such a satisfying way - and that same call becomes a wonderful and fulfilling chorus, when others join in!
Though Ettie had never considered the concept of humans 'getting' her or not 'getting' her, the fact that Tetsu seemed to get it was a wonderful feeling.
Next up though, would be Schizen commenting on how fighting was not for fun, but for benefit; to which Tetsu would also comment that as long as everyone was happy, he was happy as well! Ettie, curiously, would tilt her head ab it as she mulled it over - humming thoughtfully. "I... I guess I get it? Although a fight like that can be for fun, too, right?" She'd question, adding "It's like when your heart is pumping during a run, while the wind's rushing through your hair! Or when you're playwrestling with a packmate! Except it's just a little more roughhouse-y, right? But it's still all friendly, in the end - so it's sort of like a rougher form of play!"
Whether or not Schizen agreed with that, though... It certainly was one way, to view agreed-upon fights between pokemon like that. Anne would nod briefly along with both Schizen's and Ettie's respective thoughts on fighting, and would comment <Wanting to get stronger is... respectable goal. Stronger means can protect pack better.>
And after all of this, were a couple of subsequent fights - both for Tetsu and Koa respectively. Though nothing came along for Ettie, the young girl was still eager to cheer everyone on - happily whooping and bouncing about, just having a ball watching everyone go at it! Even Anne would give an encouraging bark in the directions of the pokemon, although she remained far calmer as always.
Koa even would be able to make a friend by the end of his own encounter - to which Ettie was happy to come on over, smiling brightly at the pokeball that the Abra would enter! "Oooh! Is that a new friend?" She'd chirp with a giddy curiosity, tilting her head a bit, before asking "Are they gonna have a name? Oooh, and can me and Anne meet them, and say hi, too?" No better time than the present, to make new friends, Ettie figured!
However, Anne would notice pretty easily, that the group was getting all caught up on the road by these subsequent encounters - perhaps they should keep moving, so that they could reach the town proper? She was pretty sure that they were almost to their destination, anyhow, with how they had been trekking along thus far.
