Overview

World of Pokémon: Ageos is a route-inspired RPG set in the region of Ageos. While currently a fully private site, we intend to allow referrals at a future date. It boasts a flexible character creation and character advancement system intended to accommodate as many character archetypes as possible. We focus on fostering relationships among members, characters, and their Pokémon.

A completely original region based on no particular place in the real world, nearly every Pokémon across the franchise’s history is represented. While an overarching plot is in place to provide some sense of direction, members are encouraged to direct their own stories. Most characters will start as fledgling members of their desired field of expertise, ready to take on the world that awaits them.

Several expansions, at least three in total, are planned over time. Each expansion will add new areas, mechanics, Quests, Jobs, and more!

Site Rules

While we do not mind the occasional reference to darker content, overly dark/crazy/violent characters are not permitted. While we have some serious and slightly dark themes, generally speaking, the focus is on a somewhat light and happy experience. Ageos is not an overly dark or gritty RPG.

While everyone ultimately directs their own story, any RPG is a collaborative effort. Make plans with fellow members, work together, and reach toward your goals together. While solo adventures are permitted, it’s much more fun with friends!

Show other members kindness and respect, and treat each other like adults. No bigotry of any kind is permitted on site or in the Discord. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, gatekeeping, and the like are not permitted. Please take any religious or political discussions to DM.

The site’s content rating is PG-13. Extreme violence, gore, or sexual content is not permitted. Occasional swearing is permitted, but please keep it occasional.

If you are unsure about how mechanics work, feel free to reach out to a staff member, or even your fellow members, to help you! We know there are a lot of mechanics and systems, and there will inevitably be questions. That’s what we’re here for.

It is important to respect all members, but it is particularly important to respect staff members. We put a lot of time into keeping the site running. If you have any pressing concerns with the rules and operation of the site in general, feel free to reach out to us and we will listen to and address your concerns.

All requests for threads to be modded need to be posted in the shoutbox at the bottom of the site, and nowhere else (including the Discord). Every thread needs to be linked. If you have more than two threads with the same character, please use a URL shortener (TinyURL works great!) as there is a 255-character limit per post in the shoutbox. This way, we can see all the requests, as only so many requests can fit on the first page at a time.

Activity checks are held on the 1st of January, April, July, and October. Please post in them, otherwise all of your accounts will be archived. Please post at least once per month. While this will not be strictly enforced as long as you post in activity checks, keeping your characters active is appreciated.

This site uses liquid time. As long as you follow the Thread Guidelines, there is no limit to how many threads you can be in. For more information, please see the rules on Threads.

While this may change in the future, for now, please do not advertise in the Discord or anywhere on site.

Systematic bigotry does not exist in the Pokémon world. While personal bigotry can still exist, Ageos has no homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, etc. on a systematic level.

Accounts

You will need an account for each character, plus one OOC account. This can be done by clicking on the green and blue icon with two people in the bottom right corner. If you wish to have more than one of your characters in the same thread, posting multiple characters from the same account is permitted. All characters with major participation in the thread will still receive thread rewards as normal. Each character does still need a separate account and a separate PC.

Your OOC account’s avatar should be a Pokémon other than a legendary or mythical Pokémon. Staff members and Content Moderators are the only ones permitted to have legendary or mythical Pokémon as avatars.

To upload the first of two avatars, go to your profile and go to the "Avatar" tab. From here, you should select the "Use only the Uploaded/Linked" option and upload or link an image by click on the text. Remember to save the changes! These square avatars have a max size of 100x100px and will automatically resize upon being uploaded.

To upload the second of the avatars, go to your profile and go to the "Personal" tab. From here, you should scroll down until you can see the spot labelled "200x300 image." You will need to use a URL image link here, and the image should be no larger than 200x300px large or some of the image won't be visible. Sites such as PicResize and ResizeImage can be used to resize an image. If you need help, let a staff member know.

Your OOC account’s username should be your preferred OOC handle. This should match your Discord username.

IC account usernames should be your character’s preferred first name and last name as one word. Titles, nicknames, middle names, suffixes, and the like, are permitted in the display name. For instance, if your character’s name is Jacob William Smith, Jr., but he goes by Jake, your account name should be @jakesmith, and the display name should be Jacob William Smith, Jr.

Upon registration, your OOC account will receive 5 Diamonds, a premium currency that can be spent on character upgrades. These can be spent upon character creation or at the Premium Shop. Diamonds are tied to your account, not individual characters. More Diamonds can be earned through special methods on site. Diamonds are also awarded for maintaining certain activity milestones.

Posting

Double-posting is only permitted in Solo threads or in Player vs. Self battles when a post exceeds 1000 words -- please see the Battling rules for more information regarding Player vs. Self posts.

Spamming to ask for thread progression, whether from staff or fellow members, is rude. While Staff will answer Mod Calls as soon as they can, please understand that we all have lives outside the RPG. While the occasional check-up is permitted (e.g. “hey, it’s been a month, are you still interested in keeping this thread?”), please do not constantly pester your peers for thread replies. We understand muse can be a fickle thing, but if you are going to be unable to post for a significant period of time, please be respectful to those you are threading with and let them know if at all possible.

There is a soft word count requirement of 100 words per post. While the occasional post that is slightly under 100 is okay, 100 is a general guideline. If we notice your posts are consistently less than 100 words, particularly in thread types that care about post quantity, we will kindly ask you to write longer posts to get over that 100-word guideline.

Depending on the type of thread you are posting in, there may be information required in your OOC notes at the bottom of your post. This will ensure staff members can process Mod Calls quickly and efficiently. While listing the word count is not required in every post unless otherwise instructed, it is encouraged.

In any thread where encounters could be generated (Journeys, Discoveries, Jobs, Quests, etc.), your Pokémon party needs to be listed, including levels. If appropriate, current HP, max HP, Energy, and max Energy should all be listed as well. While we don’t require it to be listed on every single post, we do require it to be listed in your first post of a thread, and we encourage it to be listed on your first post of every new page of a thread. It will make Content Moderators’ jobs much easier.

World of Pokémon: Ageos uses a Liquid Time system. The overall site time is the current real-world day. Threads take place at the time they were created, unless otherwise specified. If, for plot reasons, a thread needs to be set a few months into the past or a couple weeks into the future, that is permitted, but threads set farther out in time are not permitted.

Liquid Time means you can be in as many concurrent threads as you want, within the Thread Guidelines, as long as you keep a vague idea of your timeline. Trackers help with this a lot, and you are encouraged (but not required) to set up a tracker.

If you have the same Pokémon in concurrent threads, make sure the actions of those Pokémon don’t clash. For instance, if you evolve a Pokémon in one thread, then catch another Pokémon in a second thread, then introduce it to the first thread, that means the first thread must take place before the second. Therefore, if you evolve the Pokémon IC, it needs to be done in the first thread and not the second.

Warning System

World of Pokémon: Ageos will use a Warning Level system for those that break site rules.

Warning Level 1 - First offense: You will receive a PM from staff explaining what behavior is unacceptable and what action needs to be taken to correct it.

Warning Level 2 - Second offense: You will receive a PM from staff explaining continued unwanted behavior is unacceptable, and that continued unacceptable behavior may result in further disciplinary action. Your posting and messaging rights, both on site and on the Discord server, will be revoked for 72 hours.

Warning Level 3 - Third offense, final warning: You will receive a PM from staff stating that further unwanted behavior will result in removal from the site. Your posting and messaging rights, both on site and on the DIscord server, will be revoked for two weeks.

Warning Level 4 - Fourth offense: All of your accounts will be removed from the site, and you will be removed from the Discord server.

The dates that Warning Levels are issued will be tracked. While all offenses will be permanently tracked, any account with a Warning Level of 1 or higher that has no violations for 90 days will have the Warning Level for its oldest-issued offense rolled off.

Staff reserve the right to issue an immediate ban for members that threaten, direct hate speech, direct personal attacks toward other members, or encourage any of these actions. Appeals will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
