At Josh's comment over them having a lot in common, Andrew would pause for a second, before nodding in quiet agreement; smiling shyly. It did bring up an interesting point, though, that he'd have to find ways of making money while out on the road. Odd jobs and the like though, like Josh's work with indie games, would certainly be one way to do it - though he also wondered what sort of things he himself could specialize in... Without getting too off-track though, Andrew would glance over to Josh; questioning softly "What, uhm, games do y-you like to play...?"
Maybe this could be a way for him to make friends with someone...?
With the brisk trek the group was taking down the route though, Tweetie would respond to Josh's question with a drawn out and joyful trill, flapping her wings to shake off any excess energy that was building up in her excitement! The wind through her fluffy feathers was amazing, and seeing everything zip by was great... She couldn't wait until she was big and strong enough, to fly as high and as fast as she wanted, and take Andrew with her!
The appearance of a Nickit on the road, though, would prompt the entourage to stop - Josh deciding to engage the dark-type fox! Curious, Andrew would attempt (and emphasis on attempt, he was clearly still figuring a few things out here and there) to guide Pinky to the edge of the ensuing battle; unable to help the slightest wince of sympathy at how spooked the Nickit seemed to get, towards the end of the fight. Pokemon fights were rough, it seemed; or at least, fights with an Aerodactyl as huge as Meteos were...
Nonetheless though, Inari would soon spot a couple of bottles of burn heal hidden amongst the foliage, and would wrap her tails around them to pick them up; figuring she could give them to Andrew once he was off the Sylveon's back. Meanwhile, Josh would attempt to catch the Nickit with a Great Ball - only for it to escape! This seemed to catch Andrew's attention; peering towards the fox pokemon, to see what the Nickit would try.

It seemed like they had more common ground than Josh thought. He might have to show Andrew around the Beast-Cave...once he found a good spot to put it. It was his home away from home. It would take a while to set up, but it would all be worth it in the end. Josh's voice started to get louder as he grew more excited. "A variety, really...platformers, puzzles, Kantonian RPGs...but what I've been interested in are open-world adventure games that change every time you play them." Josh paused for a moment, noticing his capture attempt was successful. "Hold that thought - gotta retrieve my Pokémon." He briefly split him from Andrew and the Sylveon to grab the Poké Ball containing the small fox Pokémon. He had seen people race Thievul before, to moderate success on certain courses. Might be worth giving it a try. "Like I was saying," he resumed after returning to Pinky and the guest rider, "what I've been enjoying is...how do I describe this...if you've played any of the Link series...really old adventure series dating back thirty some odd years..."He lost his train of thought and went silent for a bit. "I'll try to be more abstract. Imagine an open world game where collecting certain items increases your mobility, and some areas require such upgrades to get to. Well, imagine if the game could move all the items around to different places, in such a way that you could still finish the game. That way it makes you do everything in a different order, and you might have to find new ways to get around. That's the sort of thing I've been into. It turns the game into a puzzle, and it's different every time you play." Meteos was slowly growing impatient, letting out a high-pitched, but relatively quiet, cry. "Right, we should get a move on. Otherwise we'll run out of daylight."--- Meteos' level is now 19!Andrew Markus Wynn NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good Meteos Aerodactyl 19 3 Good Pazuzu Pidgey 15 3 Good Snacker Carvanha 17 3 Good{WC: 324} {PC: 7}

It was safe to say that Josh was pretty invested in this talk of videogames; although to a certain degree, Andrew felt a little patronized with how Josh was explaining without even asking if he already knew about this stuff or not. He... He knew what Josh was talking about. He knew about stuff like the Legend of Zelda games. He played them, for Arceus' sake, and older games were a big interest of his; and he understood randomizers, even if those sorts of games weren't necessarily interesting to him!
Despite these feelings though, he'd fidget a little with Pinky's reins, having nowhere near enough confidence to actually voice how he felt - instead simply nodding along as Josh spoke.
"I, uhm... Like older g-games." He'd soon respond though, as the lot of them continued moving along; a hand petting over Pinky's shoulder, as he focused on the sensation of his fur. "I l-like games about raising or, uhm, c-collecting animals or m-monsters, mostly... I also, w-well, like MMOs, and story-driven g-games..." As far as monster collecting and raising games went, they were typically pretty relaxing and cute games; things that helped him calm down when he was feeling nervous or unsure. Additionally, for online games, having a computer screen to hide behind helped a bit, in regards to talking to others past his social anxiety - it helped him think out his own words, and it gave him the freedom to step back and take a breather if he felt overwhelmed.
(However, it also led to him being a bit of a crabby healer, when people don't stop standing in the fire. There is always that one person in a raid, who never learns the mechanics; and he wasn't sure why the guild leader didn't give them the boot yet, since they were also a bit of an ass...)

"Funny you speak of those - that's what I used to be into before I got the so-called randomizer bug," Josh couldn't help but laugh as the frozen river meandered close to the road again. "I still play them on occasion, but most story-driven titles are huge time investments. Figuring out the character advancement systems in those games and how to break them in half is a lot of fun, too." Cerise City's distant skyline looked beautiful in the late afternoon - the two were getting close. Just as a strong gust of wind caused Josh to shiver a little, even aboard his Flareon, his eyes lit up as he caught sight of a Vaporeon that was easily Pinky's size. It had a huge smile on its face, and appeared to be interested in the two Eeveelutions the travelers were atop. The water-type caught his undivided attention so much that he failed to notice the clopping of Mudbray hooves on the other side of the road...like he would be interested in a Pokémon such as Mudbray to begin with. Josh pulled out one of his Poké Balls, ready to catch it...but gave it second thoughts. Andrew was having so much fun atop Pinky. As much as he wanted the dual runner-swimmer Pokémon, he felt it would be a better fit for the newer trainer. "Hey Andrew, you should catch that Vaporeon! It's a lot like Pinky except it can swim, too. It would make a great first ride Pokémon for you!"--- Andrew Markus Wynn NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good Meteos Aerodactyl 19 3 Good Pazuzu Pidgey 15 3 Good Snacker Carvanha 17 3 Good{WC: 254} {PC: 8}

With Josh's mention of how he enjoyed breaking those games in half, Andrew couldn't help a soft chuckle; smiling and nodding. "Y-yeah, uhm... Definitely." Admittedly, he enjoyed doing the same - both in regards to seeing how he could make his characters absolutely busted, but also in regards to breaking the game through things such as glitches. Visual glitches, in particular, were amusing to no end for him; though the young man wouldn't be able to explain exactly why.
However, as the group continued on down the road - the distant rooftops of Cerise City coming into view - they would eventually find themselves coming across a couple of pokemon; a Mudbray and Vaporeon! Though the huge Vaporeon did indeed catch Andrew's attention as well, he couldn't help but note how the Mudbray had been completely overlooked; and briefly, would pat the Mudbray on the head as he got down from Pinky's back. "Hello there..." He'd murmur softly to the foal, in greeting, before turning his attention to the Vaporeon in question.
Josh's suggestion to catch the Vaporeon would make Andrew blink a little in surprise - taking a second to process, before he nodded. His first catch, and his first ride pokemon... He supposed he'd might as well give this a shot. Thus, he'd approach the Eeveelution slowly and carefully - extending a hand for the Vaporeon to sniff...
... Only to be surprised, when she would near-immediately bunt her head into his hand! A friendly and gentle Vaporeon, Andrew couldn't help but chuckle softly as he smiled down at the Eeveelution; gently petting her on the head, scritching her behind the ear-fins. "Aren't you a sweetheart..." He'd murmur softly, as Tweetie - still perched on his head - let out a few friendly trills in greeting. Inari, too, would briefly yip to the Vaporeon in greeting; settling down next to Andrew in a lax fashion.
Briefly, Andrew took the time to dig through his bag - and decided to pull out a handful of treats, offering them to the Vaporeon with a warm smile. "Would you... want to come with us, maybe be friends?" He'd ask the Eeveelution as she ate the offered treats; his voice still soft and gentle, likely hard for Josh to hear. (If Andrew was honest, he might've lowkey forgotten that Josh was even there at all!) "I'm just starting out, and... I kind of want to be a Coordinator, I think. Contests are a nice way to let pokemon show their mettle without having to fight too much, I'd think - and I imagine that you, uhm, would fit in nicely..."
Pulling out a pokeball, he would offer this next - asking "What do you think..?" with a warm smile.

While it helped a lot that the Vaporeon was so kind-hearted, Josh was a little surprised to see such a timid trainer so brazenly approach the wild Pokémon. Though he had been taught the easiest and safest way to capture Pokémon is to do battle with them, he had heard of people who were affectionate toward wild Pokémon and could win over their hearts. It was merely a bit...unnerving...to see it done in person. The method seemed to work, though; the Vaporeon willingly entered Andrew's Poké Ball! Josh's Pokémon barked and yipped in approval and excitement, including Pinky. The Sylveon may have been a bit too excited! If Andrew looked closely, there was a bit of jealousy in Josh's eyes; deep down, he wanted a Pokémon like this Vaporeon, but it was more important for him to see a new trainer get started. "Great stuff!" he applauded briefly. "Once you two get to know each other better and you get a tanner to fit her, maybe we could spend some time getting used to our new Pokémon!" he suggested sheepishly. --- Andrew Markus Wynn{WC: 188} {PC: 9}

With the chorus of approval and excitement from Josh's pokemon, Andrew couldn't help but jump a bit in surprise; blinking, before laughing warmly. It didn't seem that he noticed the look in Josh's eyes. "A-ah... Got a, uhm, b-bit wrapped up in t-talking to the Vaporeon, s-sorry..." He'd murmur sheepishly, scratching at the back of his head from under his hood and peering down at the pokeball in his opposite hand. Speaking of which... "... You're gonna need a name." He'd murmur to himself, before letting out the Vaporeon out; figuring that there was no harm in letting his pokemon mingle.
Upon being released, the Vaporeon would let out a languid stretch - like a cat might - before chirruping in greeting, bunting her head into Andrew's shoulder. As Inari and Tweety begun socializing with the Vaporeon to welcome her in though, Josh would speak to Andrew - to which the young man would smile sheepishly, nodding. "T-Thank you," He'd respond - briefly glancing over to his newest team member. "I'm, uhm... D-definitely looking forward, to having a - w-well - ride pokemon of my own."
With that though, Andrew would fall quiet - visibly thoughtful, as he pondered over the name of his new friend. There were a variety of different names that he could give the Vaporeon, with varying degrees of creativity or uniqueness, though eventually he would decide on the name... "... Laguna. Is... that a good name?" He'd murmur - to which the Eeveelution purred in approval, nuzzling her trainer with an upwards flick of her tail. Laguna it is, then.
With that though, he would climb back up onto Pinky - continuing on alongside Josh. "C'mon, Laguna." He'd murmur with a gesture of his hand - to which the Vaporeon in question would follow without a second thought, briefly nuzzling Inari as well. Such an affectionate Eeveelution - Andrew was happy to add another mildmannered pokemon to his team; another Tweetie would probably make for a bit of a handful, for a just-starting-out trainer like himself!

Andrew seemed so happy to have convinced the giant Eeveelution to join his cause. "Whether you let her run on her own or directly control her like you do Pinky, it's really important to get her fitted first. There's a place on the south side of Cerise that can do it, and I can't imagine they're too terribly busy, what with it being so cold. Can spring get here already--whoa!" In his rant, Josh didn't even notice he had shifted his weight pretty far toward one side, Clyde making a sudden turn away from Pinky and going clear across the road. He and the Flareon rejoined Andrew promptly, smiling. "Whoops, got carried away!""Laguna is a great name for her," Josh remarked as the water-type got to know Andrew's other Pokémon. Even Inari approached the new Vaporeon with no fear at all - unusual for a Vulpix! "I think she's looking forward to working with you. She's a great swimmer, too. I have to think about getting one like her for myself!" Andrew Markus Wynn{WC: 172} {PC: 10}

As Josh explained the importance of making sure that Laguna was properly fitted, as well as a good place in Cerise City to look into getting the Vaporeon set up, Andrew would nod along - listening closely. Proper equipment made sense, and it likely would prevent stuff like him or Laguna getting chafed from a long run, or from him falling off of her back... "I-I'll, uhm... Have to see if I h-have enough, w-well, pen for that..."
As Josh ended up straying from the path though, from Clyde making a sudden turn, the young man couldn't help but start giggling a bit; and even Tweetie, too, would chirp in amusement. It seemed that leaning as a signal to turn - while intuitive - did have its downsides; he supposed that he and Laguna would have to figure out a method of their own, wouldn't they?
With Josh's comment on Laguna's enthusiasm though, Andrew nodded. "Y-yeah..." He'd murmur in agreement, happy to see that Inari and Laguna seemed to be amicable with one another; tails swishing contentedly as the two sniffed at eachother. Even if a water type didn't normally bode well for a fire type like Inari, the young Vulpix could see quite obviously that Laguna didn't bear any ill will - and in fact, Laguna was being quite friendly and gentle!
With the mention of Josh thinking about getting a Vaporeon of his own though, Andrew would perk a bit thoughtfully. "Oh! I, uhm.. H-hear that w-we might have a, uh, Eevee migration here, soon..." He'd murmur, gesturing to indicate the route they were in right now. Maybe Josh would be able to get a large eevee, or meet a large vaporeon, when the swarm passes through here? Now that he thought of it - he wondered if Laguna was a native to the route, or if she a was even part of that swarm, and just got here first? It was hard to say for sure...
Well, regardless, there would still be the path ahead to contend with; and on that path, Andrew would spot another trainer - a delinquent, sitting on the side of the road, smoking a cigarette. Immediately, Andrew couldn't help but make a bit of a face - partially due to the smell of the smoke, and partially because he... Wasn't sure if the delinquent in question was actually old enough to smoke; not that she looked like the type to exactly give a damn about laws, and not that he was going to say anything.
However, it seemed that the delinquent would notice Andrew, and would take the time to grind the cigarette into the dirt road to put it up; getting up onto her feet. "Hmm? Watcha looking at, pipsqueak?" She'd call - to which Andrew flinched and looked away. "Ohhh, no; you don't get to pretend that it's nothing." The Delinquent would bark in a somewhat cruel tone, making a threatening gesture with her hand as she reached for the pokeball at her hip. "Is it a fight you wanted, pipsqueak? Cause I'll sure as hell give ya one!"

Hearing these words, Inari would become visibly agitated; a low growl escaping the Vulpix, as she put herself between Andrew and the delinquent. Tweetie, though, seemed more than eager for a fight, chirruping shrilly at the delinquent as she hopped down from Andrew's head. "T-Tweetie--..." Andrew would begin, but his voice would catch in his throat as anxiety rose, his grip on Pinky's reins tightening a bit. What was he going to do...? Should they just apologize and move on?
Despite Andrew freezing up though, the delinquent would sent out her Croagunk - and though the frog pokemon would initially seem a bit shy at all the individuals, and even shuddered in anticipation as his eyes fell upon Tweetie, but... "C'mon, Croagunk; show these brats what-for!" ... the poison-type would soon regain his composure, and attempt to fire off a Mud-Slap at Tweetie! The Swablu, however, would easily take to the skies to avoid the strike - twittering playfully as she did, as if she saw this as none other than a game!
As Tweetie prepared to act in turn though, Andrew would take in a deep breath, before speaking up - calling "F-Feather Dance, Tweetie!" The Swablu, in turn, would chirp in affirmative before she'd begin to flit about - almost as though she were dancing in midair. Downy feathers would drift down from Tweetie's wings, clinging to the Croagunk - particularly his limbs - and hampering his movements, even as he tried to shake off and pull away the fluffy feathers clumping together!
"Don't worry 'bout some silly feathers; Poison Sting!" The delinquent would command in turn; prompting the Croagunk to give up in pulling off the feathers, to instead fire off the stinger in Tweetie's direction! Though the Swablu would attempt to flap her wings to move out of the way, she would still be struck in the wing - prompting a brief wince and half-chirp as her flight wavered the slightest bit.
"A-Are you okay, Tweetie??" Andrew called in worry - although as soon as Tweetie regained her balance, she'd let out a few long and cheery chirps in response; a clear signal of a-ok. Taking in a deep breath, Andrew would nod a bit, before calling "P-Peck next, then!" Calling in affirmation, Tweetie would swoop a circle around the Croagunk, before diving in - pecking at the fighting-type! With the type advantage, the Croagunk was sent staggering backwards, trying in vain to cover his face up to protect himself from Tweetie's beak...
"Astonish!" ... Before flinging his arms outwards, and letting loose a startling shout at the Swablu! Tweetie, however, would be unaffected - even if she was briefly surprised - giggling in little twitters as she backed off from the Croagunk. "D... Dammit!! Poison Sting it is, then..!" All the while though, Andrew couldn't help but wonder; did the Delinquent not know type interactions? Or was she just unfamiliar with Swablu...?
In any case, Tweetie was content to continue as planned; using Pecks and Feather Dances to fight the Croagunk - even as he relied upon swift hops about, to try and play it evasive, while firing off Poison Sting after Poison Sting at the Swablu. Tweetie, in turn, would attempt to dodge the Croagunk's projectiles - dancing about through the air without a care in the world, simply enjoying the thrill of the fight. However, the next time she managed to get hit by a Poison Sting from the Croagunk...

... The effects of the poison would be noticably near-immediately; the Swablu letting out a soft and pained trill. Andrew, in turn, winced in sympathy; it was clear that the poison had set in, and would begin taking its toll on Tweetie if the fight didn't end soon - this poison wouldn't be affected at all by Feather Dance. And on top of this, it was near-immediate that the Croagunk would be changing tactics - having every intention of dodging and avoiding Tweetie's attacks, until the poison took her out!
However, Andrew would be ready to change tactics too. Her other attack wouldn't hit as hard as Peck did, but... "Disarming Voice, Tweetie!" ... It had no chance of missing; even if the Croagunk tried to play it evasive. At Andrew's call, Tweetie would begin to sing and chirrup loud as can be; a hazy-pink sonic burst coming off of her that would inevitably slam into the Croagunk, no matter how hard he would try to hop and dodge about! Certainly, it wouldn't hurt as badly as the Peck, but it still would stagger the Croagunk - the damage on the frog pokemon surely racking up by now; it wouldn't be long now..!
And indeed, it would only take a couple of more Disarming Voices, before the Croagunk would stagger and fall over - leaving the tuckered out, but nonetheless victorious Tweetie, left standing. As the Delinquent returned the Croagunk to his pokeball, she would begin to stammer wordlessly and angrily - taking a second as she dug through her pockets for a second. "I- Fucking - little pipsqueak, I.... Dammit!" She would throw something from her pocket to the ground, before storming off. "Forget this shit, I'm bailing."
As the delinquent left though, Tweetie and Inari both would curiously look over the objects that she had tossed down - the latter gathering them up to retrieve for Andrew, whilst the Swablu would settle herself in her trainer's lap with a soft, content chirrup. Smiling down to Tweetie and letting out a sigh of clear relief, Andrew would stroke a hand over her head - looking her over. "Lookit you, Tweetie... Already feeling better?" He'd ask gently; knowing quite well that her Natural Cure meant that she didn't tend to stay sick - or in the case of a pokemon battle, afflicted with a status effect - for very long.
That being said though, he could see that there were tiny little punctures, where the Croagunk had hit her with Poison Sting - and it was likely that Tweetie was also a little tuckered out from their first fight. Thus, he'd briefly hug her, before running his fingertips over the punctures - murmuring "Just sit still, and I'll patch you right up..." as he used his Aura Mending, to help heal Tweetie. And at that warm gentle feeling, of the aura being shared, the Swablu would let out a soft and sigh-like chirp; gently preening her feathers, as she settled down, almost looking ready for a nap...
"Such a good girl..." Andrew breathed softly, lovingly, and full of praise. "You did so good, in your first real battle..." ... How long would it be, until Inari and Laguna had a chance to have a few fights of their own...?
