It was getting late in the year, and soon, snow would cover the outdoor facilities of the Training Grounds, greatly limiting the facility's capacity. Josh wanted to train Ixion earlier in the day, but he could not focus, what with an unearthly-loud buzzing sound echoing all over the enclosure.
Someone was training a Bug-type, and a really big one at that. He had left to grab a bite to eat, then came back early in the afternoon. The place was pretty open now - perhaps whoever that was scared others away? In any case, he presented his Ponyta to the registration desk, who promptly got him checked in.
The track itself was a simple one - it was simply four rounded, right-angle turns with an S-curve on the backstretch for spice. The two walked from registration to the starting line. It wasn't a long walk, either, what with it being one of the closest courses to the area entrance. "Alright, girl!" Josh chirped, gently patting his fire-type companion before mounting up. Her mane flared up, particularly the flames radiating from her legs, as she took off at a good clip. Though the track was far too small for her to maintain a full gallop on, she maintained the fastest speed her trainer was comfortable with.

The red-and-cream equine whinnied as Josh helped her navigate the first curve, the young man having to move his head periodically to avoid being blinded by her bright and warm mane. The two drifted toward the outside of each corner before cresting its apex; it was unsurprising, considering they had plenty of experience racing together back in Johto. While he would need to climb the ranks from Bronze League again, he figured it wouldn't take him too long to get back into a League where he would be competitive. As he rounded a corner, he waved toward another trainer, this one a young girl, also practicing aboard a Ponyta.
The young racer tensed his arms and clenched his fists as the course's S-curve approached. He eased up with his legs and gently pulled back, Ixion getting the message to slow down just a little. A split second after the Ponyta entered the first part of the curve, Josh drew his right arm back quickly, goading a sudden turn from his mount. He flinched as she briefly slipped, her hooves sliding before catching her balance and resuming her speedy gallop around the rest of the corner.

"Just as I remember it," Josh smiled as his mount let out another whinny before picking up the pace, embers flying from her hooves. She sprinted toward the starting line as though it were the end of a race. After crossing said line, she gradually slowed, using most of the starting stretch to decelerate without risking Josh going flying over her head. He gently pat his partner on the head before returning to the registration desk, ready to pick up his paperwork and head away from Shire.
Ride training complete.
