A full week of above-freezing temperatures thawed out many locales south of Avalon Bay. Some cities farther north, such as Slate City, would still be covered in snow for several more weeks, but where she planned on going was all thawed out. It was even supposed to be in the fifties in the early afternoon; plenty warm enough for Shalin's grass and bug Pokémon to stretch. While it wasn't quite warm enough to go to the beach and take Levy for a swim, getting some air time with Flit and Queen Zing after such a long winter would be good for both Shalin and the Pokémon themselves.
As Shalin left the northwest reaches of Roch Canyon, sitting atop a giant Beedrill content to crawl along the ground for the time being, she admired the vastness of the terrain before her. While there were small, rolling hills dotting the grassy expanse, it was so vast that the only geographical feature she could make out was to the west: the Razor Peak Mountains. There appeared to be a trainer battle of some kind going on in the great distance, but that was the only human activity she saw in the vast fields. This would be a great opportunity for all of her warmth-loving Pokémon to stretch their legs...or in the bugs' case, their wings. The Beedrill she sat atop rotated her wings at various angles to stretch them as she walked, occasionally fluttering them enough to make a low hum, yet not fast enough to take off. She let Flit, her equally-large Yanma, out to stretch as well. The green and red bug-type did the same, rotating his wings about and even fluttering them. His, though, did briefly reach buzzing speed and uprooted dead blades of grass around him.
