Cold and frostbite huh. "That makes me wonder if like, there's no type-specific Pokemon racing or something. Like fire types for the winter racing. Sure it would make the lineup all the less colorful. Sure that it might make the cast just that and that Pokemons, but I feel like it could be interesting theme. Snowsledding race for example, or maybe something like just Arcanine race. Who knows? I personally would really love to see that sort of racing too," Tetsu commented.
Ettie seem to be curious of the Honedge's weight. Tetsu tilted his head. "Hmm, let's see... Scarlet is probably around half a kilo to a kilo, considering her size. She's more like a dagger than a sword, a wide dagger though! A Honedge is just eighty centimeters from pommel to tip, so not exactly a longsword which is about 85 to 110 centimeters. Its weight also exceeds a longsword, which is one to one and half kilograms, because wider bladewise. So it's more of a Spatha, which is 68 cm the shortest to 120 cm the longest," Tetsu explained. "But I think mine, Durandal, which is like... 120 cm or so is a two handed sword. He's about four kilograms? But then again I'm pretty strong so I just used him with single arm heh heh~"
Tetsu was happy to be called younger. "That's right! Hmmm... but at the same time Ettie I forgot if I ever asked how old are you... did you keep track, Anne? Like, how many summers passed since Ettie was found or something?" he asked the Rockruff.
Man, these two already eager to race huh! Tetsu immediately saddled Sphalerite and tapped his back. "...Ready for some training bud?" he whispered. Sphalerite gave him a thumb up. "Heh heh, I see you're ready. Alright... Then let's make the best of this little race shall we?" he licked his lips.
Sphalerite is a bit slow meanwhile compared the two Absol, having to build up his speed first. Being all four is also something a bit unorthodox for his kind, but even then he doesn't seem to mind. Immediately, however, once he feels comfortable, he would blast ember through his tail, boosting his speed, shaking Tetsu who's on top of him. With each boom, he would practically leap faster and faster until Tetsu had no choice but to equip his racing visor.
He could have used dragon breath rather than ember, but dragon breath from the tail tends to be uncontrollable. He probably prefer to not destroy the nature while racing. Soon, Tetsu and Sphalerite would catch up with Josh and Ettie if they don't speed up with technique somehow!

"Fire and ice type pokemon would probably be great for winter races, yeah!" Ettie would chirp in agreement, smiling down to Prince as she turned her attention to the small Fennekin. "Imagine if you were big enough; I bet it'd be fun for us to race together, yeah?" She'd comment to him - briefly wondering just how big he'll get, once he evolved. She had a feeling that Prince wouldn't be big enough; but it'd certainly be fun, to try seeing if she could ride piggyback on a Delphox if he did!
Prince, in response, would seem a little nervous at the prospect; not answering straight away. Would he be good at racing, as a Braixen or Delphox? Certainly, as he was now, he was able to keep up with the pack just fine on their runs... But having two legs was also very different from four. <... I could try.> He'd respond in a noncommittal fashion, eyes casting aside. Maybe she'd forget about all of this, by the time he becomes a Delphox, or maybe he'd be too small to be a racing pokemon; either way, he wasn't sure if he would really be all that great at it, and so he hoped that he wouldn't get involved in it...
<Will do fine, I'm sure!> Cassie would call to Prince reassuringly, waving a flipper.
Even with the sparks that Blinky gave off though, Ettie's hand would barely flinch - the young girl only giving a surprised little giggle. "Eheheh; you're as sparky as Duchess is, when she gets all excited!" She would chirp, smiling warmly. "It's okay, though; I'm used to it!" Certainly, getting shocked with a bit of static stung - but she was plenty used to handling a certain excitable Electrike; so petting a similarly excited Jolteon was no problem.
With the question of Ettie's age though, that seemed to prompt a thoughtful pause from both her and Anne - the duo visibly thinking over the question. How many seasons had it been..? Briefly, the two sisters would murmur amongst each other as Ettie began counting on her fingers; though before long the young girl would come to a conclusion, glancing over to Tetsu. "Maybe... 11 summers? 12?" She'd guess out loud, as an estimate. "I don't know exactly..."
Before long though, there would be the trio's impromptu race - Josh on Twilight, Tetsu on Sphalerite, and Ettie on Aster! The young girl, for the most part, wasn't feeling particularly competitive; she was just enjoying the feel of the wind through her hair as she whooped and howled in excitement! The absol, on the other hand, was ready to prove to Josh's pokemon just why exactly he had become an Alpha; using the long strides and strength that his larger size provided to propel himself forward along the trail at a steady and powerful pace. Cassie, meanwhile, was bwarking happily from her perch atop Leon's back - whereas Prince was just focused on huddling close in Ettie's lap, eyes peering nervously at their surroundings.
However, on top of that, Sphalerite wouldn't be the only pokemon with a trick up his sleeve for getting an edge in the race; in Aster's case, he was more than happy to use his Future Sight as a form of short-term precognition; using it to predict what sort of obstacles or twists and turns they would find on the track ahead. To someone who didn't know any better, Aster looked as though he had run this trail many times before! However, this was indeed a new path for him; having been used to sticking towards the southern edges of Ageos for much of his life up to now!
The pack would be keeping pace for the most part, all the whilst; partially due to Leon being familiar with following Aster's lead, as well as Anne naturally being swift on her feet. However, that wasn't to say that it was easy; Aster seemed more focused on trying to one-up Twilight, than on slowing down for Ettie's other pokemon! Which did raise the question - did Twilight have any tricks up her sleeve, like Sphalerite and Aster did?

"Not officially," Josh answered Tetsu's question. "At least, not that count toward season standings. There are side events that require a specific type or even a specific Pokémon, yes, but they aren't ranked like open races are." He paused to collect his thoughts. "Most of the side events are in the off-season; the main season has to have weather that can accommodate almost any Pokémon. Also, vacation. I have a side gig, but if you want to turn fully pro, you can't take a vacation in the middle of the season. It's how you pay the bills. See, in sports, there's no such thing as a paid vacation. You get paid to play. No play, no pay."All the discussion of Honedge got Josh thinking about Yagyu, and how he'd forgotten to bring the trusty sidearm with him! It probably wouldn't matter, especially considering the road they were on was well-traveled. He was going to say something when Tetsu mentioned one-handing a Zweihander-sized Honedge, but stopped. Just...how? And even if he could, why? They were designed to be used with two hands! Josh himself preferred a smaller one; one hand to guide his Pokémon, the other to strike. Josh flinched when he heard and saw a loud spark fly between Ettie and Blinky. "I thought you had gloves for that - you okay?" he asked out of concern. When handling electric-type Pokémon, particularly excitable ones, it was important to wear gloves insulated against electricity. He always kept a pair with him for that reason. Josh was impressed at Tetsu's ability to hold on through such a violent run from the Charmeleon; it gave him cause for concern, and perhaps even hesitancy, of jumping aboard his own. Ettie seemed rather relaxed as Aster sliced through the trail as though he had ran it frequently. "Don't strain yourself, Twilight. We'll catch them later." For now, he was content to simply let the Absol warm up and effectively stretch her muscles, remaining a somewhat distant third. --- Tetsu Asterite Ettie NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Blinky Jolteon 17 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 337} {PC: 6}

"Delphoxes eh," Tetsu chimed in "A huge one would be like two feet taller than Riku, so that's... something to behold in many ways. However, Delphoxes aren't known for their speed. They're more known for their performances in contests. I think you have seen Rubedo. He's the kind that conditioned for contest."
So Ettie is about 13 or 14 huh. "...Huh, I thought you're like 11 or 12, but turned out we're almost the same age, huh! Guess you're just a little bit shorter than the others, ehehe~" he ruffled Ettie's hair. "But don't worry! I'm sure this means you're a late grower! Maybe you'll grow really tall then!"
Racing is srsbsns, is all that Tetsu can catch from that. He's not sure if he could ever get to that point where he race for career. If anything he'll probably only race for fun, so he can't really be called a racer. But even so, there are things that he want to win, and there are things that he want to prove. Time like this is one of it. Even with Aster leading, Looks like Josh is taking it a bit easier. Probably saving up those boost. Quick Attack perhaps? In that case, he too should save up his dragon breath for later. Oh speaking of which! Something good is ahead! Tetsu looked at three jars of Pokemon Honey... completely without anyone on sight. He immediately leaned to the side, legs tightening on Sphalerite's sides. He's practically stretching his arm while hanging lizardback to grab the bottled honey. With luck, he got the first one! He quickly pulled Sphalerite's control stick to straighten himself back up. He quickly stashed the bottle.
Another one, however, happened to be on his sight. This time around he leaned to the other side, once again tightening his legs around the Charmeleon's side. Sphalerite too understood what Tetsu wanted and changed his direction so his trainer could easily reach the item. Once they were near a tree stump with the bottled honey on the top, Tetsu aligned his hand... and gotcha! That's another one! He also stashed it. However, the third one was a bit too close! Tetsu did not have any time to straighten himself for a break! He quickly used his other arm to grab the control stick, aligning himself forcefully. Sphalerite was a bit surprised by the sudden movement, but complied. Sadly, their little stunt sort of failed on the last one. Sphalerite ran too fast, and Tetsu's hand accidentally slapped the bottle rather than catching it, resulting both the Pokemon and the human to get drenched with honey!
"OUGH!" Tetsu cried in annoyance. "EUGH, STICKY!"
Turquoise was quick to action. She immediately cleaned both Tetsu and Sphalerite with some wet wipes. It's no longer sticky, but the aroma definitely wafting around... Little did they know that it will stay there for quite a looong time.

As far as the race went, it seemed that Aster was - at least presently - in the lead. He was naturally swiftfooted, and the fact that he had Future Sight to help him predict what was down the road meant that he could adjust accordingly faster than Sphalerite or Twilight might. However, glancing over his shoulder, he could see that Sphalerite was gaining on him nonetheless. Certainly, the fact that he was well ahead of Twilight stroked his ego a bit - but he also wished to surpass Tetsu's Charmeleon in this race, and see just how fast he could truly be in comparison to the reptilian pokemon!
As Sphalerite and Tetsu veered to the side of the road though, Ettie would notice what the duo were trying to go for; some honey jars? Her aura-ears perked at this in visible interest, enjoying the sweetness of honey immensely (even if such a treat was usually rare, for her) - and knowing that Anne, too, would love such a treat! However, it seemed that Tetsu would end up not being quite as lucky with the second jar; causing her to laugh and giggle as the young boy cried out after the both of them got drenched in honey! "Ain't that a sticky situation..!" She'd tease the duo, grinning in a wide and cheeky - though nonetheless good-natured - fashion.
Aster, too, seemed a bit amused at all of this - and he couldn't help a brief snicker at the duo's expense. However, he would turn his attentions back to the road ahead; knowing quite well that he couldn't rely on Future Sight alone to navigate the path. He had to keep his eyes ahead, too, or else he might--...
... Suddenly, though, something cut in through Aster's own thoughts. He could sense that there was a roadblock ahead - just around the bend - prompting Aster to begin slowing down and skid to a stop, claws digging into the earth for traction. Ettie couldn't help a slight squeak of surprise, as she had to hang on as tightly as she could for the brief moment that inertia nearly attempted to fling her off! "Yeek!" However, as soon as she regained her grip and balance atop Aster's back, and as soon as she glanced up ahead, it didn't take much for her to figure out what was blocking their path.
A Stonjourner - not a particularly large one but species standards, but nonetheless plenty huge enough to prevent the racing pokemon from passing through! And it seemed to know what it was doing, too, judging by the snicker it would let out as Aster skidded to a stop before it. How rude! Aster, initially, was visibly fuming at this Stonjourner - snarling <Move.> at the wild pokemon in a firm command. The Rock-type, however, didn't budge; simply continuing to snicker down at the Absol, before making what appeared to be some taunting gestures!
Aster, quite obviously, was unamused; lips curling as he bared his fangs. What nerve this pokemon had, trying to taunt an Alpha that was clearly much stronger than itself! Perhaps he ought to teach this fool a lesson, with a fight?

As Leon, Anne, and Cassie all managed to catch up proper, Aster would be raising his head; a glow along his horn implying that he was preparing to attack the Stonjourner, and start a fight! He would suddenly stop, however, when Cassie would bwark to him - the Popplio asking <C-Can I try?> in a gentle and almost sheepish tone. This seemed to be enough to give Aster pause, for he would look Cassie over with a skeptical hue, before responding <... Thought dislike fighting?> with a tilt of his head. Was she really sure?
<Yeah! But...> Cassie, initially, fell quiet - a mix of uncertainty and thoughtfulness crossing her face, as though she were about to second guess herself. However, it didn't take long for her to find her words, as she perked back up and chirped <Wanna... Wanna try, anyway! Wanna get strong, too!> as she jumped down from Leon's back, and approached the Stonjourner; her head held as tall as she could, in the face of the Stonjourner - who appeared to be smugly gloating over the Popplio.
"If you think you got this, then we'll cheer you on! Go get'er!" Ettie would chirp to Cassie in clear encouragement; nudging for Aster to back off a little to give Cassie and the rock-type room to properly fight, as she waved over to Tetsu and Josh. "Can we wait to finish the race, guys?" She'd call to them, adding "Cassie wants to try sparring this Stonjourner!"
Despite Ettie's words though, it was less a 'spar' and more a 'spat', given that the Stonjourner wasn't exactly being a good sport in her gloating. Cassie was still determined to prove herself, however; everyone was getting so much stronger, and... She'd never be able to pitch in, too, if she just stayed stagnant, right? And she wanted to know what fighting was actually about, on top of that!
And the first step of that would, of course, be actually starting the fight! It was pretty clear that the Stonjourner - likely out of a sense of smug superiority - was giving Cassie the first move in this fight; and she decided that she would start off by giving herself the advantage; letting out a drawn-out 'bwwwwark!' in a Growl, to lower the enemy Stonjourner's attack! The Stonjourner, meanwhile, would open up with Block; rocks rising around the edges of the battlefield, and clearly keen on seeing this fight with Cassie to the end. Was she that confident in her own ability to win out against the Popplio?
Either way, Cassie would decide that instead of simply spending forever trying to reduce the enemy's attack, it was instead more within her interests to actually start attacking; firing off a Water Gun at the Stonjourner! Whatever the rock-type would've expected from the attack though, it seemed as though she didn't expect this one to hit as hard as it did; nearly tipping backwards! Whilst sturdy against physical attacks, more special attacks like a Water Gun was likely to pose some trouble for a Stonjourner like herself!

Post by Ettie on Feb 21, 2021 4:16:29 GMT -6
That didn't mean she was out of the fight, however; as soon as the Stonjourner regained her balance, she was quick to retaliate by flinging a Rock Throw at Cassie! The rocks, upon hitting their mark, would draw a yelp out of the Popplio - and she would subsequently be sent tumbling across the ground. Clearly, even after one Growl, the Stonjourner's attacks were still smarting - and so the Popplio would make a decision to let off another Growl as she righted herself; hoping to further reduce the damage that the rock-type could deal!
Stonjourner's next attack, meanwhilst, would be a Rock Tomb; a practical flurry of large rocks being tossed about the battlefield, and at Cassie herself! There were multiple large projectiles; though Cassie, more prepared this time, was able to luckily duck and dodge about the field to avoid being struck by any of them - even using one of the boulders that had been flung about as cover, from the subsequent projectiles! Once the hail of boulders ceased though, Casse would peek around from behind her cover to let off another Water Gun at the Stonjourner!
The rock-type, however, had the same idea as Cassie; even as she was struck by this next Water Gun, she would duck behind a boulder of her own to avoid further bombardments as she tried to re-evaluate the situation. Now, how would she be able to get the advantage over this water-type...? After a few moments of thought, watching the occasional spray of water go wayward around either side of the boulder, the Stonjourner would decide the only way to win was to become faster than the little Popplio; rubbing her stony limbs against her body, so as to use Rock Polish, to increase her speed!
Thus, the Stonjourner would then dart out from behind her boulder even as Cassie attempted to use Water Gun on it once again; though the attack would miss, only for the Popplio to be struck by a Rock Throw in turn as the rock-type attempted to close the distance between the both of them! Even now, the attack smarted - but Cassie was thankful as she was sent tumbling, that it didn't hurt as badly as it could've before.
Even that being said though, the Stonjourner was clearly gaining some degree of an advantage in increasing her own speed; and even as Cassie would attempt to further reduce the Rock-type's attack, Stonjourner in kind would be increasing her own speed further yet! This superior speed was making it harder and harder for the Popplio to put her advantageous typing to full use - while the Stonjourner, on the other hand, was knocking her around - and Ettie couldn't help but frown with a hue of worry as Cassie was, visibly, starting to get a bit antsy from how things were starting to go a bit south...
Aster, however, had something to say to this. <Don't panic!> the Absol would bark in command, his head held high and authoritative, as he stared down Cassie from between the gaps in the stony Block. <Don't panic, don't rush; focus senses!>

Hearing the Absol's voice, Cassie would initially flinch a bit at the harsh tone; but it was safe to say that Aster had a good point, in all of this. The adrenaline in her veins, though it had its benefits, was also going to cause fight or flight to kick in at this rate - and in a tight situation like this, she had to calm down. Even as her heart beat fast in her chest, she had to try to stay calm - she had to try and avoid rushing things, or else she might start making mistakes...
"You can do it!" Ettie added in a cheer, pumping her fist in the air. "You got this, you just gotta outsmart em!"
Right... Outsmart the Stonjourner... Though the young Popplio was still nervous, she would attempt to regain some degree of advantage in using Growl against the Stonjourner once more - and though it was a bit of a lucky fluke, Cassie would be able to dodge the high-speed Rock Throw that would come at her by diving underneath both the attack, and down below between the rock-type's legs.
The Stonjourner, in reaction, would swing one of its rocky arms out in a lariat-like move - catching Cassie with it and sending her flying - but this left the rock-type open to a Water Gun to the face, causing her to stagger! Gotcha!
While in the air, Cassie was a bit helpless to the Rock Tomb that the Stonjourner would next fling at her - struck by a few of the boulders that the rock-type threw. However, this would prove to be a mistake; the heightened adrenaline and the heat of the battle being enough to activate her Torrent, water circling about her as she focused it - waiting, watching, for the perfect opportunity...
... and there! Just as she begun to descend from being flung into the air, the Stonjourner would attempt to use this as an opportunity to get in close and juggle her with a Rock Throw; however, this also meant that the rock-type would be close enough for a powered-up Water Gun! As the water type attack washed over the Stonjourner, it was clear that the battle was finished - for the stonehenge pokemon would begin to sway back and forth on its legs, stunned by the attack, before collapsing backwards; ko'd.
The rocks that had been flung about for the fight would begin to crumble - and with this, it would allow Ettie to hop on over to Cassie's side, scooping the Popplio up in her arms! "Lookit you, Cassie!" She'd cheer and praise, giggling happily as the Popplio in response would bwark wordlessly, yet excitedly. "You'll get big and strong like everyone else in no time, like that!" <Did good.> Anne would add in agreement and praise, smiling up to her packmate.
However, as Cassie begun to clap her flippers, the Popplio would wince noticably - prompting a blink and a concerned glance from Ettie. "You alright, Cass? Are you hurt..? Let's get a proper look at you..." She'd murmur, settling down on the ground in a criss-cross position - with Cassie in her lap, to better assess how the little Popplio was doing.

From just a glance, it was pretty easy to see the Popplio was a bit beat up - that Stonjourner was definitely not pulling any punches on poor Cassie. The brunt of the injuries looked to be mainly bruising and the like from your typical blunt attacks; but Ettie could also see that Cassie had a few abrassions here and there, from when she was grazed by one of the rock attacks or otherwise hit by the sharp edge of one... "Hmm... Can you sit still for me, Cassie? I'll patch you right up!" She'd chirp, setting her bag to one side as she began digging through it.
In place of the usual potions that more civilized trainers used, Ettie much preferred to use that which was immediately familiar to her, and she found much easier to gather and put together - namely, herbal medicines. Things that were taught to her by her family of wild pokemon, and that she always stuck by - because why fix what wasn't broken? Thus, it likely would be of no surprise to the pack (or to Tetsu, likely, with how they'd been together for awhile by now!) that she'd pull out a few bags of herbs, as well as an almost primitively-shaped mortar and pestle.
She'd take just a pinch of what looked to be a flower bud-like plant, as well as dried pieces of what looked to be leaves of some sort, and some sort of minty-looking plant. Next, before grinding them together, she would add just a touch of water from one of the bottles she was carrying around; all to make a proper poultice, that she would use to help treat Cassie's wounds. Aster and Leon - both of whom were less familiar with Ettie's treatments - would meanwhile look on in curiosity.
With all of this attention and curiosity directed her way, Ettie giggled a bit, and would begin to explain as she ground everything together. "The first herbs are really strong-smelling, aren't they? Mama says that they're super good for keeping open wounds from getting all icky while they heal up - but that you have to use only a tiiiiny bit, or else the oil in it kinda hurts your skin when you grind it up. The second herbs, meanwhile, help stuff like bruises heal faster, while the third one there makes your skin feel nice and cool, and makes the wound not hurt as bad anymore!"
<Definitely smell strong..> Leon would agree to the mention of the first herbs - sniffing the bag that they were in, before wrinkling his nose and recoiling a bit.
And with that, the poultice was done - and all there was left was for her to apply it to wherever Cassie was feeling discomfort or pain, and wherever it looked like skin had been broken. Once Ettie was satisfied, she'd get out some rolls of bandages to properly wrap up and cover the spots that the poultice covered, so that it wouldn't get washed off. "There... How are you feeling, Cassie?"
Judging by the sighs of relief that the Popplio made, it was clear that the poultice was already doing the trick in helping perk her back up - though Cassie nonetheless would voice this as well, bwarking <Much better! Thank you!> with a bright smile, wrapping her flippers around Ettie. The young girl, in response, would happily laugh; petting the Popplio's head and hugging her right back, before glancing over to Josh and Tetsu. "Lemme know when you guys wanna continue the race, and I'll hop back on Aster!" She'd call to them, with a bright smile.
In the meantime though, the pack seemed content to check in on Cassie - nuzzling and licking her, and showing their own forms of congratulation to her...
- Since I don't think I can actually heal Cassie yet - as I'm not a Nurse - I'll instead just level up my Medic here!

Just as Josh was about to call for a Quick Attack from Twilight, he heard Tetsu's loud scream; it sounded urgent, though muffled from the distance. When he noticed Tetsu and his Charmeleon weren't moving forward, a Squirtle cleaning him off, he assumed the race was off. A small Pokémon Josh had never seen the likes of before was slowly approaching Tetsu, then immediately fled as fast as its stubby legs would carry it as soon as the Absol approached; he didn't even have time to scan it with the Pokédex app for identification. No big deal; even if it was larger, it didn't look like it was a race Pokémon to begin with. He had caught up with Ettie, too. "You both okay?" he asked them after Twilight dug her claws into the rock to quickly decelerate. A Stonjourner was blocking the path forward to Slate City. "Heh, I've run into this Pokémon before; it broke up my last run with Blinky," the black-haired young man remarked, simply observing the Popplio's battle with the much larger rock-type. After the battle, Josh noticed two distinct, strong aromas around Ettie and Tetsu. One was herbal, and the other was extremely sweet. He couldn't help but sneeze and sniff several times. "...That's plenty of adventure for us," Josh answered when Ettie wanted to get back to the race. "Don't get me wrong, I like riding at a brisk pace, but a full gallop on something as fast as an Absol gets tiring!"--- Tetsu Asterite Ettie NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Blinky Jolteon 17 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 254} {PC: 7}

(Level Update: Riku lv 25 Rutile lv 23 Sphalerite lv 25)
Tetsu still reeling from the little incident from before... the honey was... wow. He can't even begin to describe it. Sticky? Sweet? Something else? Sphalerite would enjoyed it if not it caused everything to feel sticky. He don't like being wet, but little can be done to clean up the honey from him without water. So he pretty much tried to ignore the wet feeling on his body. He really can't protest after all. If he were to take a hot sand bath it won't get off him! If anything it will only cause even more particles stuck on him, so... yeah, time to suck it up.
"Geez, if you keep teasing me like that I won't share you any of these honey you know!" Tetsu waved his fist at Ettie playfully. But looks like what's ahead won't be a smooth sailing. Even Sphalerite, thanks to his vision managed to spot the Stonjourner. The Charmeleon squinted as he feel there will be a massive battle brewing... Aster, he guessed that the guy, despite his allegiance to Ettie, still have temperament of an Alpha. Come to think of it, it's probably some kind of seniority at play too. Riku feels like an alpha too because his temperament.
"Should we assist?" Tetsu asked Riku, who shook his head.
<Cassie, want to fight. Trust her>
Cassie huh... Tetsu immediately dismounted from Sphalerite. The rest of the group looked at Ettie's battle carefully. Turquoise is particularly interested with the fight considering they're both water type. As for Verdelite, she's closing her eyes, looking through the gaps of her hands. She's curious, but also scared of this battle. Copper merely watching idly.
As for Tetsu, he's more focused on his denmate. Ettie doesn't seem to really order her Pokemon a lot, huh? Letting more on her Pokemon to do whatever. There's the growl and the exchange of blows... The invested Turquoise looked at that battle intently. Popplios are squishy. They're not like her who's protected by tough shells. They're more of a special attacker with more focus on speed than defense, compared to her who could take more beatings. She noted that the Popplio's smart usage of the terrain is admirable. She clapped slightly when Cassie hid behind some boulders to hide from the attacks. However, there's a size play in mind it seems... Her size compared to the massive stonjourner means that she could easily hides, but at the same time her water attack aren't all that wide, so the Stonjourner can use the same tactic to stop her attack...
<Not enough pressure> she noted.
<Pressure?> Rutile asked back
<Water pressure. The higher water pressure, the stronger. Could push stone. If strong enough, can cut through rocks.>
<Water, scary> Rutile muttered. She really don't want to fight against water attack that could cut through stones! That would be way too scary! She don't want that at all! Nope, totally nope! No way, Jose!

Polish Rock though would change the tide. Despite twice used growl, speed could cause a Pokemon to react faster and at times it would make another Pokemon lose sight of what would happen. Tetsu's Pokemon gasped as a Rock Throw connected. Rutile for one, looked far more annoyed than the rest. They might belong to different group of the pack, but a packmate is still a packmate! She was about to go forward when Riku stopped.
<No,> was all that he said. Rutile gritted her teeth in annoyance. She got it where he's coming from though. Rock against Rock wouldn't bring much change anyway... and on top of it, this is not their fight.
Thankfully the tide turned right after. Rutile exhaled in relief. That was too risky, type advantage or not. Sphalerite and Turquoise stayed behind while the rest of Tetsu's Pokemon approached Cassie eagerly to praise her for a fight well done. The two seems to be discussing strategy.
<In case of you, won't be tossed like that?> Sphalerite asked.
<Shell, not as soft as fat. Will get less injured, but will not get launched far. In short, lot of pain> Turquoise answered.
<What would you do, if you fight that?>
<Not much, protect head, rapid spin to dodge. Use Water Pulse after. Turtle Pokemon, strong balance. Will not get dizzy easily.>
<Water Pulse...> the Charmeleon muttered.
Tetsu meanwhile would looked at Ettie's attempt at treating Cassie. He noted that it's probably best to not double apply medicine immediately. "I think I agree with what Josh said. We should call off the race for a bit. It'll aggravate Cassie's wound. Maybe we should go to the creek, rest up a bit, have a lunch, and then we could continue. You can apply potions there, or something like tha--"
Before he could finish his sentence, there are some... actions it seems. First was the unmistakable sound of "Snub" as a Snubbull tottered close to them. Rutile's eyes immediately gone ROUND at the sight of the Snubbull. This one doesn't seem to be the kind that creates trouble in the pack. If anything, she sounded like she's even sleepier than Princess! She immediately yipped feistily at Tetsu!
<THIS ONE, THIS ONE! IT'S TIME FOR RUTILE TO SHINE! RECRUIT HER INTO MY PACK!>
<Oy...> Riku sighed.
<I WANT. A PACK. OF MY OWN!> Rutile yipped even louder. Her dignity were nowhere to be found...
The Snubbull meanwhile looked confused for a bit, tilting her head. What's up with this Rockruff? Does she want to be friend or something? But even then... she walked over to Sphalerite and started licking spots that have yet cleaned by Turquoise. Rutile already going on miles an hour as she followed the Snubbull, trying to win her over with some talks of joining the packs and whatnot.
On the other hand... next appeared a Teddiursa. A huge one at it too. He looked calm and collected, then... he extended his arm, like asking Tetsu for something... The sound of his stomach was so clear... he's hungry. What with these pair of Pokemons that seem to do just whatever they want without any care in the world?

Tetsu exhaled. There there... alright, he got it. For one, he took a pack of bread bun from his bag and begin slathering leftover honey on it. After that he sliced some fruits and put it on the bread. "Here, you can eat it. Um... how much do you need?" the Teddiursa immediately tapped the bread three times. Oh God, three breads... What on earth is this, some sort of safari park where you can feed Pokemons? Tetsu immediately made more. He still have yet noticed that this smell of his thanks to the honey is what causing all this mess to begin with.
After a while... well, after a while, it seems that they're not quite alone. There are... more Pokemons approaching. Not boss battle thankfully, but its also... not quite a good sign that they're all called because the smell of honey. A Munchlax for example, and there's even a tiny Alolan Geodude... was the battle just then somehow attracted this Alolan Geodude?
Suddenly, Tetsu have an ephiphany... could it be that this Teddiursa like... this place's mascot or something? Considering that it's not afraid at all to approach humans and even goes as far as begging food... But either way, he have plan on capturing two of these Pokemons.
"Rutile, are you done?" Tetsu asked.
<What you mean DONE!? I, not appealed my charm enough!> Rutile protested. The Snubbull meanwhile just relaxing while leaning on Sphalerite who decided to lay down a bit to recover from the ember bursts. She doesn't seem to mind Rutile's yipping or all the talks about how she's a princess and now she's recruiting for the best elites. She felt she's not quite the elite, but considering how strongly Rutile comes for her, well... she find it flattering. At any rate...
Tetsu handed out two nest balls. One for the Snubbull and one for the Teddiursa. "Well, um, looks like one of you are really gunned by my team member to be one of her pack member... and as for you, I think you'll be a good addition for my team. You sounded resourceful enough and calm... would be nice if we could be friend. What I can promise you is a home with different types of Pokemons that are supportive of your growth. We can grow together and all that..."
In some way, Tetsu is glad that... Heliolite isn't here, otherwise he might try to appeal that Tetsu is Reshiram's chosen and would most likely... attempt to say that it's a honor to be in his team. He'd rather recruit his Pokemons in a way that doesn't toss his status around. Though, he kind of thinking of giving a chance for the vessel of light to shine. Probably so that he could feel what it's like to fight alongside of him. Maybe halfway he can switch out Turquoise for him or something... Or maybe his stronger Pokemons... Sphalerite came to mind. If Rutile evolved soon then he could probably try to ride Rutile... Rutile is getting bigger!
