After such a bitter Gym battle, Josh was happy he extended his relaxing stay in Russetton - it gave him a chance to wind down and avoid a snowstorm that fell as rain because he was far enough south. Once he got out of this arid place, though, he was certain his surroundings would be white instead of green. As much as he wanted to raise Nitto to get him ready for a future Gym battle, conditions weren't quite right; he ultimately chose to leave the Skiddo on the DL with Blinky, in favor of traveling with more fire-types for warmth. After leaving a favorable review at the Lone Staryu Motel, he loaded Ixion, his Ponyta, up with supplies, then released Clyde, his Flareon, for faster travel up the other side of the canyon trail leading west of the Whitecap Mountains and into more open terrain. Well, eventually - it was still a long road out of the desert-like area in the shadow of Ageos' second-largest mountain range. Once he left the city's north gate, he changed his mind and also let Pinky out of his Poké Ball, the Sylveon happy to run alongside the two fire-types. --- Tyrus Black NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Ixion Ponyta 15 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 195} {PC: 1}

With the success of his last mission still weighing on Tyrus; the ranger had decided that he should take some time to spend it with the few new pokemon he had come into. Keyly Bell, the shiny torchic and the alpha quilava that he had captured. He felt bringing anyone that he had worked with before might upset the newer folks as he figured they’d think he didn’t trust them on their own. Especially the alpha who he felt would have been even more frustrated with him if he brought along mack of all his mons.
Huffing and climbing up, over and around a small ledge the man found a nice spot to sit. Letting his legs hang off of a small cliffside and swung them back and forth. He’d reach down to his belt and pull out the ‘alpha’s’ ball.
”Hmm… What to name you?”
The man considered a bit and after a moment he’d let the mon out of their ball; the quilava letting out a frustrated huff and it’d glare at the trainer who managed to give the somewhat large badger a smile. It didn’t seem to like the proximity that the man was in so it’d shuffle away a bit; eyeing him with what amounted to a low key stink eye.
”C’mon. We’re gonna be working together a lot so there’s no need to be sour. I thought taking you out here would be good for you. And I thought to see what you thought of the few names I had in mind for you.”
The man was chatting away with the quilava for a little bit; going through a few dozen names. Each that ended up with the quilava blowing a bit of fire out of their nostrils and letting tyrus know their disdain with his choices. It was a pretty much no go for the entire list. Tyrus only stopping when he spotted another person; one that had a few mons out of their balls. It was rare to see that sort of thing he felt but at the same time a lot of people preferred to travel quickly and lightly no?
He’d give the approaching individual a small wave and a cheerful greeting! The ‘alpha’ eyeing the approaching individual with clear disdain and seemed to shuffle a little closer to tyrus. There wasn’t comfort there but having one human between it and another? Probably for the best.
”Howdy there! Come by here often?”

Josh tensed up when he saw an angry-looking Quilava that was about Clyde's size, its quills flaring up. All three of Josh's Pokémon echoed the motion, concerned the fire-type could pounce at any moment. The three slowed down, Pinky's feelers waving through the air faster than the wind would suggest. When a young man's voice called out to him, it was only then that he realized this Quilava was under a trainer's care. "Hold your fire, Pinky!" The white-and-pink feelers dropped immediately, now naturally swaying with the wind. "Shouldn't come as a surprise that people are traveling away from Russetton," Josh indirectly answered the traveler's question, then noticed the badge indicating Ranger credentials. "Were you in Russetton fighting that mess, too? It's one of the most awful things I've seen in a while." He left Ares behind for that specific reason - an encounter with one of the large Pokémon could trigger an anger spike and get people hurt. "This is actually my first time in the area - I'm not from Ageos, you see." Pinky, noticing how angry the Quilava was, began softly singing to try to calm the fire-type down. Of course, if things escalated, a scuffle wouldn't end well. --- Tyrus Black NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Ixion Ponyta 15 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 202} {PC: 2}

Tyrus tilted his head and well; reached down to try to calm the quilava down with a small pat on the head right behind where the main ‘hawk’ was. He’d get a glare and would retract his hand; knowing that it was better not to frustrate this large mon more than it was. It was difficult to learn some mons but… This was one of the ones he felt he absolutely needed to take his time with.
”I mean that’s fair; after what happened I don’t really blame them if they wanted to stretch their legs so to speak.”
He’d pause after a moment and give a small nod to Josh; hearing the way that was phrased gave Tyrus a probably reason to bet this fellow was there fighting against its issues. He just had to wonder if they had gotten there before or after he did.
”I was. That’s where this little firestarter came from. Doesn’t seem to like the names I’m trying to pick for her either.”
Tyrus managed a small smile down at the quilava who had taken to glaring at it’s ranger. Though it seemed to be settling down just a little bit thanks to pinky who had begun to sing softly. It was still huffy and the man sighed, folding his arms.
”I’m new to ageos as well, trying to get my bearings so going around to the different areas is important. Though definitely gonna take my time with that...”
The ranger knew that ageos was a far cry from where he called home and even though he had been here for a very short time… He felt like he had a good handle on the local area for the moment. Even if he hadn’t traveled much. That of course meant he needed to expand outwards, get used to each area. Maybe take a few days in each.
”Momo perhaps?”
The quilava gave tyrus quite a glare and the flames from the fire type’s nostrils seemed to lap at Tyrus’ jacket. Making the ranger give a little jump so that his jacket [the second one now] didn’t catch fire.
”All right definitely not momo… Hmm…”

When Josh heard the young man had also fought against the wild Pokémon outbreak south of Russetton, Pinky and the trainer relaxed. "They'll be better off in the hands of trainers than in the wild, that's for sure. Assuming, of course, they don't rebel against their trainers," he sighed, thinking about Ares. Perhaps he should let the Charmeleon out for a stroll. Maybe a bit farther down the road and away from Russetton, as to not give the fire-type ideas. "Wow, that's even a rare breed," he admitted as his attention turned toward the Quilava. "That red fur and that size would make it a celebrity back in Johto."Pinky's song didn't seem to affect the Quilava much; while it wasn't rebelling against its trainer, it certainly seemed unhappy to be with him. "Oh right, I forgot to say who I am! I'm Josh, an amateur Pokémon racer looking to turn pro; in the off-season, I take on the Gym Challenge. These three are Clyde, Pinky, and Ixion," Josh introduced the three Pokémon, who each nodded at their names being called out. --- Tyrus Black NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Ixion Ponyta 15 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 185} {PC: 3}

”I’m not too worried about her, she’s a bit fussy for sure but… I think the right home is traveling along with me. If others had taken care like I did then that means those mons that were upset will find good homes.”
Tyrus felt bad that he wasn’t able to help the two that were tagging along with the quilava but without their leader they likely would have split up and more than likely would have ended up in the hands of quite a giddy partner. He’d shift a bit and while the quilava didn’t seem to mind the proximity of their trainer they still didn’t seem comfortable with his touch.
”That it would, though I imagine she’d get kind of uncomfortable if too many people stared at them for too long hmm…”
Hearing the other introduce themselves and all the various pokemon with them he couldn’t help but think of what to name the Quilava still. A various assortment of names was always something to behold. The creativeness of tamers often was showed by what they named their pokemon. He’d turn his head to look at the Quilava and he’d perk a bit.
”Well My name’s Tyrus, I’m a ranger. And… This would be Falchion? How’s that sound for a name hmm?”
The quilava perked upon hearing the intended name; shooting a somewhat quizzical glance at their trainer before sitting down a bit more properly. It didn’t seem to mind the choice as much as the others and even with tyrus having to pat the side of his shirt to make sure that he wasn’t on fire…
”But it’s a pleasure to meet you Josh. And the gym challenge huh? The contenders around here tough?”
Tyrus knew the various gyms back in johto but never had been; so he had to wonder about the gyms around here. The man glanced to Falchion; tilting his head ever so slightly… maybe it’d be good for her to try to go after the gyms here? She did seem to have the right attitude for it…

It seemed Tyrus had come up with a name the Quilava liked - that was the first step to establishing a strong bond with a Pokémon. A unique name always made the Pokémon feel special. Josh left the two be until the Quilava had enough attention that he felt safe jumping back into their conversation. "That Quilava of yours will make such a nice mount Pokémon once she understands you; can't wait to bring my own over from home."When asked about the Gyms, Josh's eyes widened. "Like you wouldn't believe. If Russetton's Gym is indicative of anything, each Leader gets to set their own rules." He thought about his Corvisquire stranded in customs as a nearly Rookidee chirped. flying away as soon as Ixion so much as glanced at it. "When I battled Ronin, it was a giant cage that somehow compelled Pokémon to use punching and kicking moves. No wonder qualifying for the Ageos League is so tough."Once the two seemed ready to continue north toward the west end of the canyon leading to the expansive, western grasslands of Ageos, Josh gently squeezed at Clyde's sides, the Flareon trotting northward. "You're welcome to one of my Pokémon for the journey; Pinky here is a good runner!"--- Mod note: Tyrus Black has been archived; thread changing to Solo tentatively.Tyrus Black NAME SPECIES LV EP STATUS Ixion Ponyta 15 3 Good Bladestorm Skarmory 15 3 Good Twilight Absol 19 3 Good Inky Glaceon 16 3 Good Pinky Sylveon 18 3 Good Clyde Flareon 15 3 Good{WC: 213} {PC: 4}

Later that morning, Tyrus and Josh parted ways, Pinky content to run alongside Cylde and Ixion. Just as he waved goodbye to the Ranger, he had noticed two bottles of Paralyze Heal Tyrus had left behind. The wind made him almost impossible to hear from that distance, though. He tried to chase the tall blonde down to return his missing property, but Tyrus was either in a hurry to go his own way, could not hear Josh, or perhaps both. Shrugging and feeling bad about it, he simply stashed the medicine with the rest of his supplies.
On the other hand, Josh had the road all to himself. There was no one else traveling the western exit trail for as far as he could see. The farther north he would get, the colder things would become; after all, it was still the dead of winter. The plains to the northeast would likely still be covered in snow. Taking advantage of the warmer conditions, Josh flipped his visor down and tensed his legs up. "Time to see what you're capable of, Clyde! See if you can keep up with Ixion and Pinky!" With that, he dug his heels into the Flareon's sides, and the three sped westward.

Ixion drifted toward the northeast side of the rocky road that slowly turned to dirt as the two left Roch Canyon and up to the grasslands proper. Quite a bit of heat was radiating from Ixion's mane, now above the entire length of her back from how fast she was running. She led the way, melting snow just off the right side of the road and keeping the path fairly clean for the Pokémon behind her. Though Pinky was quite swift for a Sylveon, Ixion did have to monitor her speed, slowing down to avoid getting too far ahead of her companions. The melt revealed a sleeping Honedge's hilt, doing no more than blinking a couple of times as the Ponyta raced past, then closing its eye again.
Josh failed to pay the sleeping ghost-type any heed, either; he was focused on staying mounted atop Clyde as she expelled Embers from her bushy tail to keep up with his other Pokémon. The added propulsion sent Clyde and Josh past Pinky and toward the rapidly-charging Ponyta. That didn't stop the Flareon from further accelerating; while she couldn't keep up with a Ponyta at full gallop, she was going to do her best to try at the speed the equine was running at now.
Because of how short Clyde's legs were compared to Pinky's, as well as the rest of the Eevee family in general, she had to make up for it with powerful and efficient strides that rocked Josh a bit more than he was used to. While it wasn't outright painful, it was definitely uncomfortable once Clyde got up to her full gallop and started closing the gap between herself and her trainer's other fire-type. While he wasn't in danger of flying out of the saddle, being rocked back and forth so hard and so often was disorienting at best and dizzying at worst.
Despite the pressure, Josh pushed onward until he caught up with Ixion. Once the two Fire-types were running alongside one another, he called for all three to relax a bit and allow Pinky to catch up. Traveling at breakneck pace was rougher than he remembered it being, but he would need the practice before racing season began!
