Kane was still a novice Ranger, and so he knew that he wouldn't be sent on serious, high-level, life-or-death missions anytime soon. If his experience patrolling routes or clearing out a swarm of Zubat from someone's attic had taught him anything, it was that he still had a lot to learn -- namely, about Pokémon training and what it took to be an efficient Ranger. Needless to say, when he was called to offer back-up to the police of Russetton, it came as a real shock. "Me?" he asked after being told that a helicopter would be arriving shortly to airlift him to the scene. "Yes, you. We need all hands on deck here," the supervisor said. " Don't look so nervous, you won't have to do this alone. Other Rangers will be there to provide backup." He looked down at a small stack of papers on his desk. "You'll be teaming up with Koa Leilani. He's new to the Ranger Union too." The supervisor looked back up at the rank one Ranger before continuing, "When you arrive in Russetton, report to Tamara Jenny. She's the captain of their police force. She'll tell you where to go and what to do."Kane nodded, thanked the supervisor for trusting him with this task, and was dismissed. As he left the office and ascended the headquarter's steps, he couldn't help but wonder what waited for him. Apparently a great number of Pokémon were emerging from the Southern Badlands and laying siege to the city of Russetton. Civilians were being forced out of their homes, and the police had managed to stop the wild Pokémon's advancements... but that wasn't enough, it seemed. Swarms of Pokémon, possibly led by a couple of Skarmory, continued their advancement. Was something happening in the Badlands to cause the Pokémon to act this way?, Kane wondered as he opened the rooftop door and emerged on the helipad. He waved to the pilot and climbed inside the helicopter, all the while wondering about this Koa Leilani individual. Koa was apparently new on the job too, which came as both a relief and a source of some disquiet. They had about the same amount of experience and so there would be little to no judgement between them, but it also meant that they wouldn't exactly know what they were getting themselves into. The high-levels Rangers had already been sent to Russetton, so the only Rangers left were the new recruits. As such, it meant that newbies would be paired up with one other and they would be thrown into the deep end without a life raft. Kane and Koa would have to be very careful on this mission, and they would need to watch each others' backs. The flight wasn't as long as Kane had expected it to. When the helicopter finally landed, Kane thanked the pilot, climbed off, and took a moment to assess his surroundings. Russetton was far drier than Cerise City, which came as no surprise but was still an awe-striking distinction to see first-hand. After getting his bearings, Kane made his way to the police station. He opened the front door and felt his heart sink at the number of civilians gathered in the sitting area of the station. These people really needed as much help as they could get. Without wasting another moment, Kane approached the front desk. "Excuse me. I'm with the Ranger Union and I'm here for Captain Tamara Jenny."CRBhcsEFp_

Such strange behavior, Koa thought. Skarmory and other large Pokemon were causing trouble for the locals of Russetton? There had to be something more to this if wild Pokemon were attacking on a scale such as this. When the call went out, he immediately signed on to assist with the situation. He couldn't just sit back and do nothing. Thankfully he just got his Pokemon approved at customs so he had a near full team ready to go to combat this threat, though he would have to be sure to give a few of them some rare candies to give them a little boost. This was going to be dangerous after all.
He took a deep breath and clasped his hands together during the flight to Russetton. "My Pokemon are at my side...at the ready...they're going to give it their all, and so will I." He said to himself as he would soon arrive at the city. The dry environment was a little strange to get accustomed to, but he would persevere. His footsteps kicked up little dust clouds as he approached the local police station where he would be meeting up with his partner for the mission. He saluted "Koa Leilani reporting for duty! I'm here to report to Captain Jenny so I may assist with the Pokemon that are causing trouble." He said. He didn't want to outright refer to Pokemon as a 'problem' exactly as he felt there was something more to this.
He looked at Kane, and assumed this was the person who was going to be his partner. He extended a hand out towards him and smiled brightly. "Hello there, friend. As I said, I'm Koa Leilani. A pleasure to be working with you." He said with an air of confidence he trained himself to have when working with others. Sure, he was nervous too, but he wanted to be steadfast for the others.
"Before we leave, I'm going to give my Pokemon some Rare Candies to give them a boost. Sounds to me we're going to need it." Koa said as he revealed his team. A Popplio, Froakie, Mienfoo, Fomantis, and Snom. He immediately picked up the Snom and held her close "I know you wanna be brave, but be careful, okay Seina?" He said, worried for the young bug. He set her down and pulled out a little bag as all of the Pokemons' eyes lit up. "Now now, easy." He said as he fed them rare candies. He gave the Mienfoo two since it's been a long time since he has fought.

Kane McAlvin Koa LeilaniA random event has occurred! The secretary at the Russetton Police HQ lead the two fledgling Rangers to a rendezvous point just south of Russetton's city limits, a squad of tacked-up Arcanine, Boltund, and Stoutland standing near her in a line formation. Two other Rangers, ready to go, were already astride one of the Arcanine. Two more were each standing next to a Stoutland. "Alright, I think that's everyone," a young adult female addressed the Rangers. She was dressed in a blue-and-white police uniform, with several pins of honor underneath her badge that sparkled in the sunlight.
"I'm Officer Tamara Jenny with field ops. We can begin the briefing now. As you know, Russetton has been under attack from giant Pokémon, and we simply don't have the staff to both defend the city and drive these Pokémon away. Supposedly they're all taking orders from a Skarmory whose nesting ground was destroyed when Russetton expanded southward. It's riled up some other wild Pokémon in the process, too. Your mission is go out there and remove the threats of these wild Pokémon by any means necessary. You can put them down, catch them, or do whatever you'd like to them, so long as the threats are neutralized in some way."
Tamara paused to collect her thoughts. "You'll know the Pokémon you're going after by how big they are. They're...really big for their kind." She pointed to one of the saddled Boltund, about the size of one of the Arcanine. "Think at least that big. These Pokémon will be able to help search the Badlands for you, but they're not trained for battle. You can use them to get around the Badlands if you don't have a Pokémon you're more comfortable with. Don't push yourselves too hard; if things look bad, retreat. We don't want any more avoidable casualties. That being said, I look forward to the successful completion of your mission."

A short while after Kane had introduced himself to the officer at the front desk and had been asked to take a seat in the waiting area, another Ranger entered the facility and introduced themselves as Koa Leilani. So this was the person he was meant to team up with. Hearing the stranger's name, Kane stood and approached with a warm smile. "Hey," he said, just loud enough to catch Koa's attention. This, paired with Kane's Ranger-issued uniform, was enough for the other Ranger to turn and introduce himself a second time. "Koa Leilani." "Kane McAlvin," Kane replied, "I look forward to working with you."As the secretary disappeared in a back room to find a temporary replacement at the front desk, Koa called out his entire Pokemon Team, comforted each one with kind words and warm embraces, and finally gave each a rare candy. It was then that Kane felt gravely under-prepared. He did own a few Pokémon, but he had only brought his Ranger-assigned partner: Pan the Panpour. It was less a matter of poor decision making and more a matter of under-leveled Pokémon. Pan was the only one suited to tackle such an intense Quest. But would he alone be enough? Kane remained silent as he watched Koa interact with his team, all the while doing his best to reassure himself that the captain wouldn't have sent him on this mission if he wasn't ready. It was the secretary who ultimately quelled Kane's concerns, for she returned to the front desk and asked the Rangers to follow her. The trip was short and uneventful, and before Kane knew it, they were at Russetton's southern border where a row of Rangers and stage 1 canine Pokémon stood at the ready. Kane fell in line beside one of his superiors and looked ahead as a woman clad in a blue-and-white police uniform stepped forward. As she paced, introducing herself as Officer Tamara Jenny, the various stripes and bars pinned to her uniform shimmered in the sunlight. Whatever self-doubt Kane had felt before was only amplified upon seeing Officer Jenny's medals. He really was out of his element here, wasn't he? Well, it was too late to turn back now, not that he wanted to anyway. He may have been ill-prepared, but if he could offer an ounce of support, he wanted to. If he could subdue one rampaging Pokémon or save a single civilian, that would make it all worthwhile. Kane's eyes glistened with determination as he listened to the Captain's in-depth explanation of the task at hand: as Russetton expanded southward, it destroyed a Skarmory nesting ground in the process. The Skarmory began lashing out, and this behavior caused other wild Pokémon in the area to begin acting out as well. So that was the root of the issue. The police department was desperate, that much was clear. They just wanted the problem gone. It didn't matter how. Kane stole a glance at Koa to see what his response was to what Officer Jenny was saying. The "put down" bit seemed a little extreme, but perhaps some of these wild Pokémon really would fight until their dying breath. Only time would tell. It was about then that the Captain explained which Pokémon the recruits should focus their attention on -- huge ones. Alphas, most likely. Kane had experience dealing with Alpha Pokémon in the past, so he knew how stubborn and aggressive they could be. If there were multiple Alphas out there in the Badlands, rampaging and angry at humans, then this would prove to be truly troublesome. Once Officer Jenny was finished with her spiel, Kane looked over at the mountable canines which were at their disposal. Stoutland excelled in tracking, but it wasn't exactly the fastest. Speed wasn't something Kane normally concerned himself with, but if they needed to make a quick getaway then Boltund or Arcanine would be better fitted for the job. Ultimately, Kane chose the latter option. He took a seat on the saddle, scratched the Arcanine's mane for good measure, and gripped the reins. Once Koa had climb atop a Pokémon as well, they headed off into the Badlands. naJKgbX|p_

Koa smiled brightly at Kane's introduction, glad that the two of them seemed ready to work with one another for the current crisis. He listened to the briefing and stood at attention all the while, though would frown slightly when hearing about the nesting being destroyed "One can hardly blame the Skarmory for its behavior. Efforts should have been made to provide nesting elsewhere or to guide the Pokemon away from the area beforehand. He simply smiled "I would prefer you not use language such as 'put them down,' Officer. With all due respect, of course! There will be no bloodshed on that scale today." He said with an almost gleeful look of defiance in his eyes hidden behind his glasses. We'll do our best to drive them away or catch them, but let this be a lesson of proper environmental conservation. It's important to consider the local wildlife before expanding borders, after all."
He let out an impressed whistle at the suspected size of the Pokemon "Quite large, indeed...I can see why they've been a threat and how they were able to convince the other Pokemon to rally behind them. I will admit it will be tough to drive them away, but it can be done, for sure." He nodded.
He walked back to his Pokemon and smiled at them all "Are you all ready for today's mission, everyone? This'll be a tough one, but we'll get through this." He said. All of this Pokemon did their own little cheer in anticipation for what's ahead. He scooped Seina up in his arms and poked a finger to her face "This'll be super tough...I know you want to help, but this can be very dangerous for you right now...how about you watch from my bag and get used to seeing how battles play out? Does that seem fair?"
The Snom gave a friendly, understanding expression as Koa gently placed her in his bag "Okay, I'm glad!" He pat her softly, prompting her to wiggle in contentment. He looked at Kane and seemed to notice his nervousness. He pat his shoulder "Greatness starts from the humblest of beginnings. I know it seems daunting from where you're standing now, but consider that each and everyone here stood where we are now, right? We'll each get to where we want to be in due time." He said with a reassuring, kind smile.
He pondered which Pokemon to use as a mount on their way to the badlands before settling on a Stoutland to assist in tracking if Kane was going for speed. "We'll do sweeps of different parts of the badlands, Kane. Your speed will let you cover more ground, Stoutland's tracking will hopefully let me find our mark sooner. Sound good?" He suggested as the two of them departed together for this wild mission.

Kane McAlvin Koa Leilani A random event has occurred!Given how dangerous these Pokémon were and how overwhelmed the police were, it came to no surprise that the captain authorized the use of lethal force, even if it was only to be used as a last resort. The captain apologized to Koa for her bluntness in describing said authorization. After the two had mounted atop the large police dogs, they headed their own separate ways, the Arcanine that Kane had chosen appreciating the scratching and even letting out a laughing bark. The first point of interest that caught his eye was a toppled Vullaby nest that had fallen to the ground. From his perch on the Arcanine, Kane was able to see the top of a small mesa, cut at an odd angle. Its top surface was far more reflective than the rest of the rock around it. Koa, in the process of sweeping another sector of the Badlands, could pick up the smell of something burning. Stoutland followed the trail, offering the young Ranger a glimpse of a family of Skorupi being driven away from their nest by an angry but very tiny Ninetales, open flames burning from each of its raised tails. Catching the brightly-colored canine out of the corner of its vision, it turned to face him with an unsettling, almost violent gaze through eyes covered in solid red, the latent temperature rising to rather uncomfortable levels. Kane was thankful to have such an outspoken and optimistic partner by his side. While he didn't necessarily call himself a pessimist, he was beginning to question their chances. If high-level Rangers and the local police force couldn't even hold back the onslaught of rampaging Pokémon then how in the world would two newbies stand a chance? He did his best to ease his own mind by focusing on what he could contribute rather than comparing himself to those who had been doing this longer and had more experience. Koa clapped Kane on the shoulder and explained that although things may have seemed overwhelming, everyone started somewhere. The white-haired Ranger returned the smile and nodded. "You're right. We just need to keep our heads and do what we came here to do."After they were both atop their police-issued mounts, Koa suggested they split up. Not exactly what Kane had hoped to hear, but he agreed all the same. "I'll take the west path," he said while pointing to the cliffs and ridges in the distance, "You go around the eastern way." He glanced back at Koa before patting the walkie talkie clipped to his vest, "I'm on Channel 7. Radio in if you need backup." And with little else said between them, the two novice Rangers split off to begin their search. It only took Kane a few minutes before stumbling upon a peculiar sight against one side of a rocky mesa. "Woah there, steady," he hollered while gently pulling back on the Arcanine's reins. The fire canine slowed to a halt as Kane silently examined the giant nest that laid on the ground. It looked long-since deserted, for it contained broken and empty shells, and one half of the nest was falling apart from a lack of upkeep. Those more knowledgeable about the region, the local fauna, or bird Pokémon would've realized that this previously served as a Vullaby nest -- Kane was not one of those people, however, and so it's last inhabitants remained a mystery to him. In an attempt to figure out if the toppled nest was linked to the recent goings-on, Kane scanned the side of the mesa, his eyes eventually finding something shiny and reflective near the top. "What is that?" he wondered with squinted eyes. While reaching into Ranger pack to fetch his set of binoculars, the Arcanine shifted its weight and sniffed at the air absentmindedly. In silence, Kane peered through the lenses to see what he could find. yO2cQIdqp_

Koa pulled back to bring the Stoutland to a stop "Let's stop here for a moment..." he said as he met the violent gaze of the small Ninetails with his own calm one. He watched as the Skorupi skittered past in fear of the rampaging fire type. "Ninetails...a fire type with psychic capabilities...that takes Seina, Sakuya, and Toki out of the picture..." He muttered to himself as he approached slowly, but not getting too close. "I'm sorry if what we've done has infuriated you, but I'm afraid..." He took a deep breath as his aura started to flare up "...I can't let you hurt people or Pokemon that are not involved. Azura!" He threw out a Pokeball and brought his Popplio out to battle.
Azura seemed away of the seriousness of this battle, so she kept her gaze focused on the Ninetails and awaited for Koa's orders...the air was hot, unnaturally so. "Drought..." Koa said softly. Water attacks would be weaker, but still a good first strike "Azura, Water Gun!" he commanded. Azura hopped to the side and fired a shot of water towards the Ninetails, the spray already slightly weakened from the heated air. By the time it hit Ninetails, the effect was severely dampened but it still angered the opposing Pokemon. Its eyes shined brightly as Azura felt something strange. She tried to attack with Water Gun again, but couldn't. It had used Disable on her.
This was going to be trouble. Getting too close to this Ninetails could be dangerous, so thankfully Azura had other options "Disarming Voice!" Azura let out a discordant, song-like tone that generated pink-colored waves of energy that flew out towards the Ninetails. It started to run to the side in an attempt to avoid the attack, but no matter what it did the waves would pursue until they finally struck. The Ninetails was getting increasingly frustrated as it focused its energies around Azura, bombarding her with strange psychic energies that disoriented her and threw her off balance. She fell to the ground for a moment, eyes closed to avoid feeling sick from the energy. "Don't worry about moving, just use Disarming Voice again!"
From her position, Azura sang out another note that traveled towards Ninetails. It charged through, taking the hit as it howled out a ball of fire towards Azura with Ember. Azura struggled to stand as she saw the fire launched towards her. She managed to coat herself in a little bit of water to dampen the effects of the flames, but the increased power from Drought was apparent. Azura wasn't about to give up as she hopped towards the Ninetails "Pound!" Koa ordered as she slapped down on its head with her flippers. The Ninetails yelped as it stumbled and slid towards a nearby cliff. The fall wouldn't be that far, but Koa wasn't about to take chances.
Koa rushed forward and risked grabbing the Ninetails by its body to avoid touching its tails. "I know how angry you must feel, and I understand...!" He grunted as he lifted it to safety "But lashing out isn't going to solve anything! Go back home! I promise I'll help out however I can...it's my duty!" He said before he walked over to Azura to check on her. "You'll be okay, Azura...you did good." He said with a warm smile as he scooped her up into his arms. "Get some rest." He said as he returned her to her Pokeball and mounted Stoutland to continue moving forward.

Kane McAlvin A random event has occurred! As Kane scanned the top of the small rock structure for something highly reflective, he found there was no object at all - that entire upper surface shimmered, as though it were cleanly cut. With how brightly it was reflecting sunlight, the cut has to be recent. Only a handful of Pokémon were capable of doing something like that, and it wasn't out of the question that a gigantic Skarmory's wings were big enough and sharp enough to do so. Koa Leilani A random event has occurred! The Ninetales, very confused as to why he was being spared, darted off further south. The family of Skorupi slowly began to skitter back toward Koa and where their home was. They seemed docile and grateful, one trying to climb up Koa while showing the biggest happy face its eyes and mandibles could manage. It was failing to do so, though, toppling over a couple of times before eventually giving up and just shifting beady eyes toward the Ranger.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed that the source of the gleam was nothing more than the rock's very own reflective surface. What was most peculiar, however, was the fact that the stone appeared to have been clearly cut by something incredibly sharp and precise. It wasn't rough and jagged, as one would have expected it to be after years of erosion. Were the toppled nest and cut rock caused by Russetton's efforts to expand southward, or had the destruction been caused by something else? Kane lowered his binoculars and glanced back at the wavering image of the town on the horizon. Perhaps these were the Skarmory's nesting grounds, the same ones Captain Tamara Jenny spoke of during her debriefing. Kane considered this as he slowly scanned his immediate vicinity for any sign of the individual responsible. He couldn't find any gear or construction equipment, so it seemed more likely that a rampaging Pokémon was at fault. Regardless, the culprit either seemed to be long gone or in hiding. With a click of his tongue and a gentle kick against the Arcanine's sides, Kane continued onward. De3X6EJhp_

Koa was absolutely delighted that the Skorupi were happy with his efforts here today. He knelt down and waved to them as they expressed their gratitude. However, his work would be far from over. Until those Skarmory were dealt with, there was still danger in these dunes. He whistled to call the Stoutland to his side to saddle up. Once more he would continue onwards. If this Ninetails was here it probably meant he was on the right track towards finding the bulk of the gathered aggressive Pokemon.
Despite the threat they posed, Koa couldn't help but feel sad for the Pokemon that were attacking. Their homes were uprooted and some of them likely had nests that were destroyed in the process. It's little wonder why so many of them were angry and attacked. Still, despite his sympathies he had to do what he can to drive them back. Fixing what happened would have to come later, as much as he hated to admit that.
He felt bad that he suggested to split up from Kane. He was new, likely newer than he was. Maybe he should have went with him for security...if he needed anything he could always call, but he felt like he made an impulsive decision that hurt him. He would have to make it up to him somehow after this was all said and done. Either way, he and Stoutland continued forward as he scanned the environment for any sign of more hostile Pokemon.

Kane McAlvin A random event has occurred!
The excited police dog continued deeper into the Badlands, farther away from Russetton; with how much the buildings were shimmering, it was quite warm and they were rather far away now. As the breathtaking, scintillating cliffs on the southern edge of the Badlands rose into view, a loud crash boomed, Kane's ride bounding south-southwest toward the source of the noise. The dust cleared to reveal a similar-looking rock formation, this one also cut extremely cleanly. Whatever did this had to be close. Real close. Koa Leilani A random event has occurred!
As Koa rode west and the Badlands really started to open up, a sizzling Flamethrower shot toward the Ranger and his Stoutland mount. The great dog, trained for situations like this, weaved around the gout of fire. Another one came, and another, testing both the Normal-type's agility and Koa's ability to hold on to the fur-covered Pokémon. The source of the fires was a Ninetales, taller than the Ranger was even in the saddle, her waving tails just as breathtaking as the scenery. The wild's eyes glowed a sinister shade of red and purple, and she looked extremely upset. She reared almost straight up before catapulting another gout of flames above Koa's and Stoutland's general location. Two smaller ones flanked the behemoth of a fox, as well. The terrain around them was flat - nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and Stoutland certainly wasn't going to outrun a Ninetales. An Alpha Ninetales appeared! It looks angry!STATS

Heat danced off the rugged terrain like steam off a boiling pot of water. It warped the landscape along the horizon and created temporary mirages, resembling distant pools of glistening water which remained ever out of reach from the Ranger. Fortunately, neither Kane nor the Arcanine he rod upon were thirsty, and so the visual illusions were not a source of struggle or frustration; rather, it proved to be a source of interest and curiosity. Kane, having spent most of his life in Cerise City -- a city located just off the coast and overlooking the sea to the south -- was extremely familiar with the way water appeared from a distance. So the fact that the badlands were capable of replicating the visual effect, and the fact that Kane was witnessing it firsthand, was something awe-inspiring. The glimmering horizon was only a small source of interest, however, as a much more pressing matter made itself known with a rumble, crash, and a cloud of dust. Instead of heeding his natural instinct which screamed at him to flee from the perceived danger, Kane continued onward, leaning forward against the Arcanine's back and tapping its sides with his heels to encourage it to go even faster. The canine did, lunging forward and taking up a quicker pace. Kane dug his feet into the stirrups, gripped the reins tighter, and narrowed his eyes to prevent them from drying out. Once they were within a few feet of the incident, Kane pulled back on the reins, slowly bringing his mount to a halt. They paced around the outskirts of the settling dust cloud as the Arcanine sniffed at the air and swiveled its ears in response to something the Ranger could neither see or hear. To assist in surveying the newly destroyed landscape, Kane once again pulled out his binoculars and took a good look through the ashy brown atmosphere. On the ground was a cleanly-cut piece of stone, half-lodged in the earth. Scanning the height of the nearby rock formation revealed that the stone had been cut from the top of the pillar in a very similar way to the plateau Kane had come across earlier. "Stay alert," the novice Ranger told the Arcanine, "I don't think we're alone."58AI2U9Kp_

"Stoutland, down!" He shouted as the Stoutland dove to the ground the best it could as Koa clung close to its body. The roaring flames soared overhead, the extreme heat signaling that whatever they were currently dealing with was very powerful. Koa swiftly dismounted Stoutland "Go hide! I'll handle this!" He ordered as he ran along the dunes. Three shadows darted through and pursued. Koa looked side to side and activated his Aura Sight. With a deep breath he expanded his vision around him.
He grit his teeth and slid down a hill as one dove towards him. As he slid, he grabbed three Pokeballs and turned to throw them in a flourish "Azura! Toki! Malik! We're in for it now, so give it all you got!" He called as he stuck the landing. His three Pokemon landed and engaged each Ninetails. Malik took it upon himself to focus on the leader, while Azura and Toki would fight the followers. "I don't know what has driven you into such a frenzy, but it does not excuse what you could potentially do to innocent people. I promise I will get to the bottom of this, but first...I'll stop all of you!"
Toki immediately rushed the Ninetails he was fighting as it charged up an blast of Ember. He slapped both his hands against its head with Fake Out, making it cough and fail the initial burst before growling at the Mienfoo. Toki clenched a fist and charged up a Focus Punch. Ninetails hopped away and launched more flames in response. Toki crouched down and dashed forward, avoiding the flames and landing a hook square into its torso. As its launched away, Ninetails clawed the ground to skid across the rocks. Its eyes glowed eerily and sealed away Toki's most powerful attack with Disable, though this didn't seem to bother him. Now he could focus on less risky moves to attack. Toki took a deep breath and centered himself, anticipating an attack...and Ninetails delivered with yet another Ember. Using Detect, Toki dashed forward to close the distance. If this Mienfoo closed the distance, it was over. Once more it desperately shot Embers at him. Toki guarded, but the burning flames singed him as he leaped into the air and slapped down on its head with Pound. The two would continue this cat and mouse game for a time while the others fought.
Azura began her fight with Disarming Voice, the energy created from her singing voice pursuing Ninetails until it struck home. No matter how much it tried to avoid the energy, it wouldn't relent. Its eyes glowed similarly to the others and Disabled Disarming voice, but that was part of the plan! Now Azura could use something more effective. Water Gun. She sprayed water at the Ninetails who ducked and weaved around to avoid it. It shot a series of flames to evaporate the water as they both stood against each other. Ninetails made the first move this round and rushed forward while launching more Embers to pin Azura down, but Azura's acrobatic flourishing paid off as she jumped and twirled in the air before launching another Water Gun towards Ninetails. The fox yelped as its sprayed with the water, steam hissing off its body as it spat out more Embers to the now airborne Water type. Azura winced as she dove through the flames but she slapped down on Ninetails with her tail using Pound. She sprung off Ninetails before more flames could catch her. The two would exchange a flurry of Embers and Water Guns.
The one that Malik was fighting, however, was quick on the draw as its eyes began to glow, though this time with hypnotic effect...

Thankfully, Malik's disciplined nature prevented him from succumbing to the sleep inducing attack. He leapt forward and extended his tongue towards Ninetails with Lick.

While it hit, there was no paralytic effect unfortunately. In aggravation, the Ninetails contemplated deviously on how to take down this Froakie using Nasty Plot. Once more Malik lashed out his tongue, but to grab at Ninetails. He catapulted himself towards it with Quick Attack and struck with a swift drop kick before it had a chance to really react. Infuriated, Ninetails inhaled deeply and breathed out a massive geyser of flame while Malik recovered his footing from the attack. Malik ran to the side to avoid a majority of the blast, but the tail end of it blasted him directly. Singed and hurt, Malik remained standing as he spewed a series of large bubbles around Ninetails. It tried to dance around them, but several popped around it in quick succession, stinging terribly as it recoiled. The Ninetails gave Malik a spiteful glare as psychic energies began to form around him. Quickly, Malik wrapped his tongue around one of its feet before Extrasensory can totally take hold. While the psychic force would still disorient and rattle Malik, he launched himself towards Ninetails again to sweep all of its legs in retaliation. Dizzy and exhausted, Malik would still keep bouncing around to be prepared for any future attack. Ninetails scrambled back up and spread another flamethrower over the field. This time, Malik leaped over the fire and sprayed more Bubbles on Ninetails. In its pained state, it stumbled back but looked ready for more battle...however, something swiftly came for it. Koa had thrown a Quick Ball at the leader of the Ninetails...
Toki and Azura had managed to drive off the other two Ninetails as Koa rushed over to spray a potion on Azura.

Kane McAlvinA random event has occurred!
While investigating the cleaved piece of stone, the Arcanine around Kane tensed up as both of them could hear the sound of a metal sword being drawn from its scabbard. Twice. Only one line of Pokémon Kane knew to live in this biome could make that noise. At least he would have time to prepare for the incoming attack! Koa Leilani threw a Quick Ball!PqL9PMTzp_The wild Ninetales has been captured successfully! One Quick Ball has been removed from your inventory. With their leader captured, the two smaller Pokémon turned tail the best they could...which wasn't very well, considering how hurt they were after the bitter battle. Even after being captured, the Quick Ball containing the giant Ninetales would not stay still. He was livid, scratching in vein at the translucent upper half of the device. Either way, mission accomplished! Hopefully Kane was doing well in his search also...
