"Professor Pear!" A young voice rang out as a young lady started knocking on the door of the lab incessantly. It may have seemed like the girl was incredibly impatient, and maybe she was, but she was more eager than anything else. The teen finally stopped knocking on the door and instead was tapping her foot in anticipation. "Man, what's taking them so long?" Charlotte, the teen who had been banging on the door, groaned. "You'd think assistants in a Pokémon lab would be more helpful. I heard Professor Juniper's staff was a lot more helpful.
Of course, Juniper herself would just deliver the Starter Pokémon to houses herself sometimes, but that was beside the point.
Deciding she couldn't stand waiting a moment longer, the teen started testing the door by pulling on it. Didn't budge... was the lab closed right now? But it was the middle of the day! Maybe the Professor was busy with another Trainer? But it was her turn! Frustrated from her own impatience, the teen decided she was going to ram through the door at full force, but... well, it turned out it didn't need that much force at all and the teen ended up face first on the ground in an instant. Charlotte raised her head up and looked around, realizing very quickly that she'd made it to the lab.
The girl pushed herself to her feet in anticipation before bringing her attention to the lab assistants, every single one of them giving her the stink eye. The teen blinked at them a little, quite oblivious to just how annoyed they were at her, and instead went right up to one of them with a smile and a wave. "Hi! I'm Charlotte Summers! I'm here for my Pokémon? I was told to meet with Professor Pear. Is she here?"
The assistant took a deep breath and letting out a sigh before she forced a smile on her face. Typical tactic for customer service: no matter how annoyed you were, just bottle it up, lest you get yourself fired. "Oh, the Professor will be with you shortly. Just wait over by those benches over there."
Charlotte smiled and nodded. "Okay, I-"
"And please," the assistant interrupted Charlotte, who looked over at her in confusion. "Try not to make so much noise, okay?"
"Okay! I'll be quiet," Charlotte said, rather loudly. "I was pretty quiet while I was waiting outside, so not really sure why you even brought it up, but I'll be extra quiet for you!" The assistants groaned, feeling as if she got the words loud and quiet mixed up somehow. The request seemed to make her louder.
Never the less, the teen settled herself on the bench, and managed not to make a peep while waiting, though she did squirm in her seat a bit. She was really impatient...

Charlotte Summers A random event has occurred! The door's back lobby clicked open, as a white-gowned female who appeared to be in her early fifties, made her entrance into the Lab's lobby. "Charlotte Summers?" the Professor asked, her eyes shifting across the lobby until she saw a fidgety-looking, young lady. "Someone's excited to get her first Pokémon!" Though the Professor was stern-sounding - she had the voice of the schoolteacher from you-know-where, she ultimately liked seeing new, young trainers off on their journeys. "It's not every day you see this level of excitement out of a new trainer!" she remarked. "I'll be right back with your Pokémon." After a couple of minutes, she returned with a small, yellow box that looked like it could hold three Poké Balls. She took the lid off in front of the young girl, revealing a single Poké Ball. "This is the Pokémon you wanted, right? It's called Emolga." She pressed the large "release" button in the Poké Ball's center, the Emolga within leaping out and gliding toward Charlotte to give her a great big hug...well, at least as big as the small Pokémon could. "They can be a handful - try to avoid touching their cheeks if you can, until she gets used to you!" --- Professor Pear presents you with your Pokémon!STATS

Upon hearing her name, Charlotte leapt to her feet and raised her hand as if she were being called upon by a teacher. “Me, me, me! That’s me!” The teen was practically getting ready to leap out of her own skin; she was so excited. If she had to wait even a second longer, she may have exploded. The girl ran right up to the professor, grinning from ear to ear when she asked if she was excited. Most teens her age may not have been so obvious about how they felt out of a need to want to appear more grown up, but Charlotte wasn’t most teens. She wasn’t in any hurry to grow up too much aside from being able to go on her own journey.
Of course, she needed to prove that she was old enough to head out into an entirely new region on her own, but ultimately said yes under one condition: her mother would be the one picking her Starter Pokemon out for her.
At first, the teen was a bit disappointed by this, because she was pretty sure there was some sort of lesson her mother would try to tie into this. However, the more she thought about it, the more she realized something: no matter what Pokemon she picked, Charlotte was getting a Pokemon! And even more so, it would be a surprise! She loved surprises! It was part of the reason she was so excited right now!
Was it a Pokemon from her home region? Was it a Pokemon from some other region? Was it a Pokemon who could evolve in different ways? Was it big, was it small? All of these questions made the girl almost burst with anticipation because the possibilities were nearly endless. Nevertheless, she was bound to like it, no matter what it was… because her mom knew her well.
The professor exited the lobby and returned with a case with a single Pokemon inside. The girl grinned from ear to ear, doing everything in her power to keep herself from grabbing the ball prematurely. Then the woman spoke and the girl turned toward her with a smile.
“Actually,” the teen spoke up. “My mother chose the Pokemon for me, so I don’t know what I’m in for! It’s really exciting!” It was then that it dawned on her that the woman had just revealed to her the name of the Pokemon. “Did you just say..!” Before the girl could finish, the ball opened with a pop, and a bright light flew out of the ball before forming into a small electric rodent, instantly gliding right for the girl from the air. The girl was slow to react, but she did return the hug, though a bit hesitant. It seemed like she was in a bit of shock.
“Emonga!” The little squirrel smiled up at her new Trainer, wagging her tail slowly as she did so. It wasn’t certain if wagging her tail was really a sign of happiness, but the Emolga seemed to be just as excited about meeting her Trainer as Charlotte had been about meeting her.
“M...my Pokemon is Emolga…” The girl stood in silence before tears started forming in her eyes and a huge smile formed on her face. The mumbo jumbo about “cheeks” and “who needs safety?” flew right over the girl’s head as she embraced her new Pokemon in a great big hug, rubbing her cheek against the Emolga's, and practically bawling her eyes out. It may have been a bit too tight of a hug for some Pokemon, but this Emolga seemed to be thrilled about having her hug returned. “I can’t believe it, I have my very own Pokemon!”
“Emon, emonga!” The Emolga shouted with just as much enthusiasm about having her very own Trainer. It seemed as though they were both waiting their whole lives for this moment… Charlotte’s mother chose right: this Emolga was meant to be hers, and she knew that right from the start! Obviously that was a pretty lucky guess, seeing as it could’ve just as easily gone wrong, but the teen decided to disregard that bit of fact.
Of course… perhaps the Emolga was a bit too excited as a result and… let it loose. It didn’t take long for the teen to suddenly get overwhelmed by another sensation: that being a mean dose of Emolga’s special kind of Nuzzle. Maaaybe she should’ve paid a little more attention to that safety mumbo jumbo… “...Mon?” The Emolga blinked a little upon realizing what she did, and stared at her new Trainer with a bit of concern.
The human was still twitching quite a bit from the sudden attack, face contorted a bit as her entire body filled with a buzzing sensation. “Wh… Why…?” The Emolga lowered her ears a bit, clearly feeling bad. It seemed as though this Emolga was still rather young, so she wasn’t quite in control of her Electric Type abilities yet. It took several moments, but the girl did eventually recover from the static electricity and looked at the little squirrel with a pout. This made the Emolga feel bad and she lowered her head a little. The young Pokemon looked like she was about to cry a little. However, before the new Trainer could give her first Pokemon a piece of her mind, she did remember the Professor saying something about… Emolga’s cheeks and… to watch out for them…
“Emon emon…” Emolga lowered her head apologetically before suddenly feeling a hand stroke the top of her head, causing the round ears on her head to perk up slightly before she smiled and leaned into it a bit. “Emon~!”
“Sorry,” the teen apologized, still trying to keep a good first impression, as Emolga had probably tried to do as well. “I’ve just never been zapped like that before. I guess it would do me some good to be careful around those cheeks.” That’s what Professor Pear just said… nevermind. The teen stood up and received Emolga’s Pokeball before placing it in her pocket and nodding at the Professor. Sure, the teen could’ve put Emolga in her ball, but after waiting thirteen years for a Pokemon, she wasn’t about to do that. No sir.
She was going to take the time in the first leg of this journey to get to know her partner.
“Thanks for the Emolga, Professor,” Charlotte thanked the woman before heading out of the office with the little Emolga in her arms. "It was nice to meet you!" The teen then turned to face the assistants. "Hope to see you all again." The crew all groaned before sighing in relief as the teen finally left them at peace. Nica amount of energy that kid had, just not good for a working environment. Despite the bit of hiccup, Charlotte and Emolga managed to be even more excited about this than the moment they initially met. Charlotte received her first Pokemon! Her journey was ready to begin! What could possibly ruin that for her?
