A random event has occurred!
While Zubats doesn't have eyes, Pan's Scratch definitely hurt the alpha Zubat a lot. While it does stop it from using Supersonic, it ends up using Astonish on the water monkey in an attempt to scare him away. As for the small Zubat, it seems to notice the alpha flailing in pain through its echolocation. Realizing what is happening, it briefly hiccups and suddenly, it screeched its own Supersonic, which shakes the glasses around the house again. It looks like that the fight seems to agitate and stresses out the poor Pokemon. This is not your lucky day, isn't it?

Things were only getting worse, and Kane didn't even have a plan! Well, he did, but it was an incomplete one. He initially wanted to subdue the swarm of Zubats so they would be easier to handle, but then what? The best option seemed to be to catch all three in Pokéballs then either release them outside or bring them to a Pokémon Center to let the nurses there take care of the rest. However, Kane doubted that any of these wild Pokémon would be all too willing to be captured, however temporary it may be. But what other option was there? As Pan howled in pain and released the Alpha, and the young Zubat began to scream, Kane once again clasped his hands over his ears and looked around the attic for some hint as to what else he could do. Maybe there was something he could use to his advantage. Boxes... Beams... Insulation... There was nothing! Was there something in his pack? A compass... A set of binoculars... A map... Useful, not not in this situation. He was beginning to feel hopeless, and for a brief moment, Kane considered calling in for backup. But he refused to give up. He needed to do this himself. Not only did he want to make a good first impression with his superiors, but he also wanted to prove to himself that he could do this. It was then that he was struck with an idea. There had to be an opening in the attic; how else could the Zubats have sneaked inside in the first place? Though Kane couldn't see any, there had to be one somewhere. Some slit or loose paneling that was just wide enough for a bat to squeeze through. Chasing them outside was probably the next best option. With this new plan of action, Kane began to consider which of the Zubats he ought to tackle first. There was no doubt that he would have to battle the Alpha, either until it fainted or until it fled of its own volition. As long as the rest of its colony remained in the attic, it would likely fight until its dying breath. So the mother and baby would have to be addressed first. Get those two out and the Alpha would hopefully be more willing to leave too. Kane glanced over at the tiny Zubat, and he consider how to get it and its mother to flee from the attic. He didn't want to fight them if he could help it, and he'd already lost his chance to befriend them, for as long as the Alpha remained aggressive and Pan continued to fight, trust could never be fully given. While gritting his teeth, Kane unclasped his ears, pointed the flashlight at the baby and mother Zubats, and swatted them away with this other hand... the hand that had once held snacks. Kane carefully balanced on the beam as he slowly and steadily guided the bats to the other end of the attic where he hoped their exit was located. While the novice Ranger did this, Pan continued to focus his attention on the Alpha, doing his best to ensure that it wouldn't go after Kane and would instead continue focusing its attacking elsewhere. jsDg_nce

A random event has occurred!
Thanks to Kane's efforts, the light from his torch and food he tossed made the mother and child Zubat to screech before they flew away into a loose paneling on the roof. While it was ashamed to see them go, at least it was better than making that young Zubat suffer. But while Pan managed to divert the alpha Zubat, it countered with Absorb onto the water monkey. Unless Kane called his Panpour off, he would be on the losing side of this fight.

Some luck seemed to be on Kane's side, for his attempt to scare off the mother and baby Zubat had worked! They screeched and fluttered about before pressing themselves against a spot in the ceiling and disappearing from sight. Kane made a mental note of where the opening was before turning around and surveying the battle that was continuing to rage on behind him. Pan looked worse for wear. Not only was his energy being constantly sapped and used to heal the alpha, but he looked as though he was ready to faint at any moment. Kane had two options: use a potion or recall Pan. Both had their pros and cons, but the novice Ranger had no time to consider them in great depth. If he waited much longer to decide, his partner would fall unconscious. Erring on the side of caution, Kane lifted the Pokéball from his belt and Pan vanished in a beam of red light. "Easy, easy!" Kane hollered to the alpha Zubat, doing his best to tow the line between catching the Pokémon's attention and keeping a calm, unimposing tone. "The others left," he explained while shining the flashlight beam toward the narrow opening in the attic's paneling, hoping that it would help direct the sightless creature's attention. "I didn't hurt them, and I won't hurt you. I promise. Go on," he encouraged while taking a hesitant step onto one of the narrower support beams located off to the side; he wanted to ensure there was plenty of room for the alpha to fly by and out of the house. Kane just hoped he'd done enough to convince the massive nocturnal creature to leave. BUuvLk5k

Kane succeeded in calling his Pokémon back inside its Pokéball, but to his dismay, that meant there was no one else in the attic to draw the aggressive creature's attention. It seemed that any movement would be perceived as a sign of hostility, for as soon as the Ranger took a step to the side and motioned to the loose paneling with his flashlight, the alpha swooped in and chomped down on his arm, its fangs piercing through his jacket and breaking skin. Kane inhaled sharply through his teeth and recoiled, pressing his body against the slanted beams overhead and wobbling as he felt some energy being sapped from his body. The tingling and dizziness were bad enough, but then came a wave on nausea. Ugh... Kane placed his hand atop one of the dusty moving boxes and tried to collect himself. Screw Zubats. Honestly. This was terrible. The novice Ranger did his best to focus his vision on the fluttering bat as he kept the flashlight down, hoping not startle the alpha any more than it already was. "Okay, you got your payback," Kane huffed, trying to keep his tone steady, "Now go find your family. They're waiting for you outside."5EUW7N0a

Kane McAlvin A random event has occurred!
It seemed that all the giant Zubat was looking for was a quick meal after its two family members flew out of the attic. It was a shame that Kane had to be the meal, but at least the wound wasn't serious, right? The Ranger heard a human scream shortly after the fluttering bat flew out of the attic. Mission accomplished!

Once the alpha Zubat left out of the same gap in the paneling as the previous two, Kane breathed a sigh of relief. That reprieve only lasted a few seconds, however, for a woman's scream from downstairs caught the novice Ranger's attention. He quickly and carefully raced across the central support beam before pulling open the attic hatch. "Is everyone okay down there?" he hollered.
There was a second or two of silence before the teenage boy appeared at the bottom of the ladder. "We just saw a huge Zubat fly past the window!" he explained, looking a little flustered himself.
Kane smiled. "I'm almost done up here. Would you please go get your mom for me?" The boy nodded and left the room. As he did, the novice Ranger returned to the far side of the attic. While holding the flashlight in his mouth, Kane retrieved a roll of tape from his utility pack and used it to mark the Zubats' entry point with an X. It wasn't a long-term solution, but it would hopefully help keep the wild Pokémon out long enough for the residents to hire someone to come and make the necessary repairs. With that finished, Kane slipped the tape and flashlight back into his bag, descended the ladder, and explained the situation to the lady of the house -- conveniently leaving out the scuffle he'd had with the bats, as to not worry the family. "Don't hesitate to call the Ranger Union again," he finished with a smile, "Have a good day, ma'am." And with that, he left the home, feeling really proud of himself, even if he did have a few bite marks to show for it.
