Kane McAlvin
APPEARANCE FACE CLAIM • Zen Wisteria from Snow White with the Red Hair HEIGHT • Estimated 5'11" (roughly 1.8m or 180cm) BUILD • Medium, perhaps a bit on the lithe side, some muscle mass HAIR • Straight, ear-length, eggshell white, often ruffled EYES • Carolina blue, appears lighter in the sun AURA • Like a candle's flame, Kane's aura appears as a steady fire that stems from the center of his very being. It continuously burns in place, maintaining a modest side and never raging out of control. While the most dominant color is brown, the center of the flame is a brilliant yellow-green that may be better described as "lime green." CLOTHES • Being a Ranger of the Ageos Region, Kane can oftentimes be seen wearing the appropriate uniform. Said uniform consists of a red-and-white-jacket with a yellow interior, black fingerless gloves, and a walkie talkie attached to a utility belt. When he's not sporting the classic Ranger outfit, Kane will usually wear long pants -- such as jeans -- with a loose-fitted t-shirt or, if the weather is especially chilly, a long-sleeve shirt. Though he favors wearing tennis shoes when leaving the house, he also has two pairs of hiking boots and one pair of black loafers for any other occasion. SUMMARY • From top to bottom, Kane has ear-length eggshell-colored hair. Though he makes a point to brush it every morning, it always has a tendency to become disheveled over the course of a day. His eyes are a beautiful shade of blue that sometimes look lighter when he's standing outside on a sunny day or some other light source is shined in his face. The frame of his body matches that expected of an average Pokémon Ranger -- 5 feet and 11 inches, healthy and fit, and somewhat muscular. He can oftentimes be seen wearing the Ranger uniform, but when he's off-duty, he can usually be found wearing long pants with a loose-fitted t-shirt. PERSONALITY friendly - levelheaded - honorable - determined - respectful Those who were friends with Kane growing up will know that he has changed considerably since then. After losing his father and becoming a Ranger, he has simultaneously become more reserved and more outgoing. On one hand, he has matured into a fine young adult with a sense of pride and independence, while also understanding the seedy underbelly of Ageos and the harsh reality of life. He no longer takes things for granted as he once did as a child; he knows that he isn't invincible and that a single turn of bad luck can make things go sour in a hurry. But at the same time, he isn't so pessimistic that this reality brings him down. He loves the work he does, finds joy in the ability to help people and stop criminals, and has really come into his own as a person. Though he respects those in positions of authority and is tends to favor the law over personal opinion, he is more than willing to do what needs to be done to ensure those around him are happy, healthy, and safe. Ultimately, Kane is a laid-back individual with a love for life, even though he may come off somewhat intense while on the job. BIOGRAPHY HOMETOWN • Cerise City, Ageos RESIDENCE • Cerise City, Ageos HISTORY • With his mother being an officer of the law (an occupation that is commonly referred to as a Jenny within the Pokémon world) and his father being the city's gym leader, Kane grew up in a rather strict household. Though his parents' inconsistent schedules meant that he was often left to his own devices, he was also raised to understand the importance of discipline and respect. Talking back to adults or other authority figures wasn't an option, dabbling in tomfoolery and misconduct was heavily frowned up, and anything other than his best wouldn't have been accepted. For this reason, he grew up being something of a goody two-shoes, valuing rules and regulations over virtually everything else. His parents weren't so overbearing that they prevented Kane from having any fun at all -- he would spend time with friends and would occasionally go to a party in the city -- but they certainly did their best to keep a close eye on him and to always know where he was at all times. Kane went though the motions and got decent grades throughout elementary, middle, and high school. He did his best but was never truly passionate about anything in particular. While many of his friends were starting their Pokémon journeys, were preparing to get a higher education, or were applying as interns to local jobs, Kane was in a strange limbo state. He had been so used to people telling him what to do all his life... and now that he had the ability to decide something so life-altering for himself, he was uncertain what to do. That uncertainty was sure to change, however, when tragedy struck. His father, the man who had been the reining leader of the Cerise City gym for the last decade, passed away. The loss of a family member is hard enough, but when foul play is involved, the sorrow grows ever deeper. After some investigation, detectives determined that the death was due to a robbery gone awry. The burglars broke into the gym with the intention of stealing the Pokémon inside, but a fight erupted when Kane's father tried to stop them. Though the criminals were caught and charged, and the Pokémon were returned to both the gym and the McAlvin family, things were never the same after that fateful day. Kane's mother took time off from work to mourn, extended family came to help where they could, and neighbors offered baked goods and sentiments written in cards. All the while, Kane was filled with pain, confusion, and determination to make a difference. From that day, he vowed to become a Pokémon Ranger -- not only to help stop similar crimes before they happened, but to help subdue dangerous Pokémon who might otherwise endanger lives. The gym, all the while, remained vacant. People tended to avoid the place out of respect for the dead or fear of the grim history of the place; but as years pass, history gets forgotten and new trainers step up to the plate. With time, Kane too made his dream a reality by passing the Ranger entry exam and officially becoming a Ranger of Ageos.
