As much as Shalin wanted to get straight in the water with Rielle, she had to ease the Vaporeon into being comfortable with the riding gear she was fitted into, one step at a time. Starr and Dolana had just evolved recently, and Rielle and Waft had recovered from a leg injury not too long ago. Starr in particular looked jittery, the newly-evolved Espeon still not used to the tack she was wearing. "If you're so excited, I'll let you go first!" With that, she gently held the Espeon's reins and walked toward the intermediate-level course the Training Grounds offered. While they were all beginner-level courses by racing fans' standards, this one was more than a simple oval. Shalin ran her fingers through Starr's fine, green fur while the Espeon stretched. When she was ready, she carefully climbed into the psychic-type's saddle, making sure not to make any sudden movements. The other three lined up next to Shalin and Starr, ready to run alongside her. With a gentle kick to the psychic runner's sides, the two were off at a surprisingly brisk pace, the rest of her team close by. Suddenly, a deafening buzzing sound filled the air, causing the rider to flinch... --- Jae TsukudaWYFqFWA3p_This Ride training will involve Starr, Dolana, Rielle, and Waft.{WC: 203} {PC: 1} {Pt: 61/100}

The loud buzzing and her rider's sudden movement spooked Starr, the psychic-type making a low leap. Shalin's surroundings faded completely white other than the green Espeon beneath her. She couldn't move a muscle, nor could she feel a thing. All she could hear was white noise. It was as though her surroundings had become so cold that she had lost every sense but her sight. From time to time, her skin tingled as the white color dimmed slightly, but every time it did, the intensity of the deprivation almost immediately returned. Eventually, the surroundings of the Training Grounds faded back into view over the white, and she regained full motor control and normal hearing. The deafening buzzing had ceased, as well. Shalin found herself near Jae and her Tauros, Starr's sisters all bounding toward the psychic quadruped. She had no idea how much time had passed. All she could manage was a weak "Hi...Jae?" in her disorientation. Her face gradually turned green as she leaned to one side, Starr sitting down in an effort to let her rider make an emergency dismount if need be. It was a good thing, too; it looked like she was going to hurl at any moment! --- Jae TsukudaaDWY9ESGp_{WC: 204; 407 total} {PC: 2} {Pt: 128/100}

By the time Shalin was able to compose herself enough to stand back up, Jae was already getting acclimated to another of her Pokémon. Her first instinct was to warn Jae of how strong and fickle Tauros can be, but she held back. It would be hypocritical of her; perhaps the young Coordinator was stronger than she looked. Her "iron stomach", as her friends put it, was the only thing that kept her from becoming horribly motion sick after the teleport. It was still uncomfortable the first time, but she now knew what was coming and could prepare for it more.
---
Once Jae and her Tauros were a distance away, Shalin whistled for Rielle to come to her, the Vaporeon excited to get her turn. Unlike the rest of her Pokémon, Rielle's saddle was not designed to be flush, its shape having to account for the blue fin that ran all the way along her back. It took a bit of getting used to, the girl used to sitting much lower on her other Pokémon.
After a few adjustments, Shalin was able to issue silent commands just as she did with the rest of her Pokémon. It was a little uncomfortable at first, the extra height off Rielle's back making her sit up more straight than she was used to, but she was confident she would quickly become used to it after just a couple times around the same training course Jae was on the opposite side of. The water-type's tail became more and more straight, using it as a rudder to help steer the faster she got. From time to time, Shalin had to nudge her away from the large pool near the course she was running. "One step at a time, girl," she said as she gently tugged at the Pokémon to stay on track. "You'll get your chance to swim with me. I promise."

Tauros was a fairly common Pokémon for moderately experienced riders to travel with; they had quite high stamina and could run at quite the clip. The one downside was being a bit unpredictable; Matador demonstrating as such, Shalin watching the normal-type buck Jae off with just one sharp thrust. She knew it wasn't the impact with the ground that hurt most; it was the force behind the thrusting motion that was painful. The distraction was enough for Shalin to subconsciously let up her hold on Rielle's left side, the excited water-type drifting toward the pond on the outside of the course. Not expecting the entry into water, the sudden speed increase from Rielle getting to use her tail instead of her legs sent Shalin flying backwards. She instinctively grabbed the long tail, swishing back and forth behind the swimming quadruped. She couldn't help but giggle during her ride on the strong tail, though a sudden Tail Whip abruptly ended it, sending her flying across the shallows. Though the Vaporeon was quick to swim and gallop her way to her trainer's side, Shalin was less responsive at getting back in the saddle and trying again. First Starr, then Rielle; none of her Pokémon seemed to hold back! uwXHuXtip_Jae Tsukuda{WC: 208; 410 total} {PC: 4} {Pt: 93/100}

As Shalin caught her breath, she noticed Jae handling her Tauros with a lot more confidence the second time around. She weakly waved and gave Jae a thumbs-up before making it to her feet, then aboard Rielle again. The apparent wind against her felt colder than before, waking her up not too long after Rielle broke into a run. The second time around the course was much easier, particularly with Rielle being less distracted. Instead of the two fighting each other, they worked with one another, the Vaporeon understanding there would be many times to go swimming with her trainer later in the season. Once Shalin felt like her hair and clothes had become mostly dry, she commanded the water-type to put on a burst of speed. While Vaporeon were not known for their land speed, they had more speed than most trainers thought; if she and Matador were to race one another, she could probably make the Tauros exert quite the effort to stay ahead. The blue, finned Pokémon stopped next to Starr, Dolana and Waft eagerly eying Shalin as they awaited their turn. She ultimately chose the grass-type first; if anything, Waft would be able to help dry the soaked rider off more quickly. EMygFDmnp_Jae Tsukuda{WC: 208; 428 total} {PC: 5} {Pt: 114/100}
