Instructions
Each Training Grounds facility has an open area designed for trainers to learn how to ride aboard flying Pokémon. There are poles to fly around, large rings to fly through, and even a small maze to practice close-quarters maneuvering. This area is gated off from the rest of the facility and has a fenced-off ceiling that prevents riders from flying too high. The floor is made of artificial turf that is highly shock-absorbent, greatly reducing the impact of falls. Surveillance cameras also monitor tis space throughout the facility's hours in the event of an accident, making this the safest place for a flying Pokémon to learn to carry a passenger.
Your first post should consist of 200 or more words, then a roll with the [ proll ] command. This is your score; the goal is to earn 100 points. If you do not reach 100 points, you will need to write 200 more words. Posts can be slightly over or under; what's important is the average is at least 200 words and each post is at least 150 words. After this next section, make another roll with [ proll ]. This process repeats until you have reached 1,000 words or you have reached 100 points, at which point you succeed in Sky Ride training.

When Shalin and Flit had arrived at the Training Grounds facility once more, it looked a lot different, what with everything having been moved indoors due to it being winter. The ring course in particular appeared to be short staffed; perhaps several workers were catching on to her and requested the day off after seeing her name on the schedule? Either way, she could only get a much more limited time slot to practice; she only had a one-hour block to do so. Thankfully, it wouldn't be as much of an issue as last time, as Flit was the only Pokémon she looked to get certified. A burst of hot air from an overhead vent startled the Yanma as the two entered the large, indoor facility. It was a lot smaller than the outdoor one, being only three stories high.
Once Shalin hopped onto the Yanma, she realized how much different this would be from controlling Queen Zing. The key difference was that Flit's unique wing design and body shape let him fly in any direction while facing any direction. Most Pokémon responded to either reins or shifts in a rider's body weight for direction and speed commands. This would require both, simultaneously. She put her earplugs in and gently squeeze the insect's exoskeleton, her mount jumping into the air and hovering with her.

The green insect's wings were much more powerful than Queen Zing's, its shaking, rattling body startling the rider. This, combined with having to control both movement and direction independently, was going to be a chore to learn! Overwhelmed, she gently pat Flit's head and asked, "Hey, can you always just face forward? This is too much for me!" She simply hung the reins up on the end of the bug's saddle and tried controlling the Pokémon simply by leaning in various directions. Flit's reaction was almost instant, swerving up, down, and to the side as she experimented with varying commands. It felt like she was being yanked in the chosen direction when Flit stopped on a Pen every single time.
Once she had become somewhat acclimated with the jerking nature of Flit's direction changes, she moved on to testing speed. "Alright, I think we've done plenty of hovering - think you could take me on a lap around the walls?" With a nod, the dragonfly tilted his wings, picking up speed just as quickly as he had swerved about before. While the Beedrill had more raw speed, Flit's acceleration was almost instant.

With Flit simply facing forward, the ride felt much more natural...or at least as natural as being on a Yanma could feel. The adrenaline flowing full force, Shalin couldn't help but let her recklessness take over. "Flit, let's go faster!" The bug-type tilted his wings even more, buzzing harder upon rounding one of the flight range's four corners. One of the safety workers covered her ears as the crazy rider passed overhead. She winced upon Flit making another turn, her left leg sore from the insect's intensely-throbbing body during the turn. She instinctively pulled back hard on her Pokémon; Flit gained height quickly, now just below the grate covering the ceiling lights.
When the rider slumped, her Pokémon got the message; he gradually slowed down and gently landed, letting his dizzy trainer dismount and limp back to the desk on a jelly left leg. While the training was successful, it felt more like Flit was training her than she was training her Pokémon. She would certainly need to do personal training as well to fully control such a nimble Pokémon, but it was passable enough to at least travel by air.
