The Next Post will be Your Last Roll for the Thread
The Palossand is now limp. It can no longer fight back. With that out of the way, you now saw a huge hole that leads to... this so called secret area. As you entered it, you'll soon find several tunnels, heading to different directions. You noticed that the wall is not natural, in sense that it's not naturally made tunnel, but a man made one. It's ancient, but the layering of the bricks are definitely manmade. For your height, you don't have to duck, but riding a Pokemon down here would be quite bad as they will be extra tight fit, especially one with wide wingspan. There are murals on the walls. Human, presenting gems to Pokemons. There are also shards of crystals down here.... a lot of them even. That's when you noticed that the ground isn't littered by sands, but by fine dusted crystals. The crystals getting more and more in form as you goes deeper.
.....and then you saw that the path now diverges into three. To the center, to the left or to the right, it's not in cross form, but in fork-like form.
Where do you decide to go now?

Now that Shalin finally had a moment to breathe, she sent her Ninetales back out to examine her for wounds. As her trainer ran her hand over Caprice's fur, she jumped and yelped. The fur was burning hot in some spots, yet cool as any other Pokémon's fur in the wintertime in other spots. Upon further examination, the burning parts of her fur seemed to all be from her front legs up to her neck. She took a closer look, noticing some swelling in the lower neck area. There were no external injuries, though - it had to be internal. A dose of Revive and Super Potion would at least make her feel better for now, but she would need to be taken to a Pokémon Center once they returned to Russetton.
"You okay, girl?" Shalin asked, Caprice's neck and head sweating. The Ninetales nodded, then suddenly reared and let out a cry accompanied by a cracking voice. The female trainer jumped back. "We'll get you looked at soon, I promise." She tapped her hand against Caprice's saddle a few times. "Okay?" she asked, Caprice nodding again. Swinging aboard her Ninetales once more, the cooler fur felt so strange to her as she peered over the edges of the platform.
Indeed, there was a secret tunnel that led into the mountainside. While it was large, it wasn't so large as to accommodate both Caprice and her rider comfortably. As to not hit her head on the ceiling from a rough bounce from the fox, she dismounted and walked alongside the Ninetales down the center path of the first fork.

The first Fork Reveals...
When you got there, you arrived at a circular room, very spacious, and looked like a ruins of something... something like an altar. You saw nearby bones of what looked like humans and some looked like Pokemons. The humans still clothed while the Pokemons are armored and they're far from the center, more to the sides, so it's not likely that they died of sacrifice. However... you noted of murals on the wall. Any blood dried, but there are scorch mark here and there, a bit of what looked like clean cuts from wind... perhaps there was an event here... one of violence. You noted the atmosphere to be very serene and melancholic. The people nearest to the center meanwhile seem to die while kowtowing to what appears at the center.
You noted that the closer you are to the center, the more evolution stones gathered. However, they're not quite the normal evolution stone. You can say that they're something closer to Mega Stones. Yet, there are no murals of Xerneas, Yveltal nor Zygarde. Instead, the murals depicting a completely unfamiliar legendary. The image is blurred because of the taining of blood and scorch marks. You can't really make any sense of it. Which part is blood, which part is the real thing?
Here, however, you found something quite nice on the altar. At the moment you have no idea what these are for. Maybe some scientists might be able to tell its effect to you.
Gem of Alternate Path x 3 If applied to a receptive Pokemon born in Ageos while it's in egg stage, it will hatch into Ageosian Variant
Shard of Possibility x 3 Allow a Pokemon to learn one egg move.
Do you feel this is a good reward to call it here, or would you like to proceed to other path? There seem to be more secrets, but it's questionable whether there will be more rewards.

Seeing the preserved bones of humans and Pokémon, alongside the murals of supposedly regional legendary Pokémon, got Shalin's blood pumping. It was pumping both out of excitement and out of fear. Though it was not uncommon for regions to have a bloody power struggle in ancient times, seeing the aftermath of such a struggle gave the girl chills. Even Caprice could sense this, the smart fox taking a step closer to Shalin and turning her internal heat up slightly.
Shalin's eyes slowly drifted toward an altar with several gems on it. She scooped the six small objects up to examine them. They were almost...Mega Stone-like, the corresponding Pokémon not coming to mind at all. She would need to ask someone familiar with Mega Stones what these were. Finally, she dropped them into a small baggie before storing them with the rest of her supplies. She tread back to the fork to head down the left path, her curiosity driving her trembling legs to continue on...

Is this Premonition of Something Bigger?
When you gone to the left one, there are murals of what looked like massive disaster. Ground razed by flames, flood that destroyed the region, and finally Pokemon and Humans losing places to live. You noticed the expression of grief and anguish on each of the murals, and humanity sacrificing their kinds to appease the destruction wrought by whatever caused them to no avail. Then, at the end of the pathway, you saw three murals, each depicted serpents, both majestic and terrifying. They're drawn in such details that signifies both reference and fear. Fear that one day they'll be returning to this world.
There were also murals of unknown heroes attempting to challenge the three serpents with their own legendaries. The legendaries does shows some resemblances to other region's legendaries... but what does this means? Are foreign heroes somehow came to Ageos to subdue the three serpents? Or it happened that this place somehow have copies of the legendaries? But either way, you noted one thing: This place is much less untouched than the previous one, as if something or someone has been here very recently. Even if they tried to cover their track with sands, you'll notice that the difference of color is very real, as in which sand are from Palossand and Sandygast and which one is dust from ages.
...Could that means...?

The murals Shalin witnessed appeared to be depicting Pokémon she had never heard of before. All three were giant and serpentine; one of fire, one of water, and one of earth. Together, they seemed to have the power to destroy and reshape the planet. Was this the cause of the calamity that supposedly reshaped the region millennia past? She started to shiver; the Ageos region's legendary Pokémon certainly weren't as friendly as the ones in her home region. Raikou, Entei, and Suicune routinely appeared in front of humans, and were known for saving lives of humans that happened to be in their vicinity and in danger. Those three were among the very few legendary Pokémon that are known to exist by video proof.
On the other side of the chamber were murals depicting heroes astride legendary Pokémon, some of which she recognized. In particular, she saw Ho-oh, the Great One from Johto, belching radiant flames while a rider wielding a rainbow-colored longsword slashed above. She snapped pictures of all of the murals. The details were frightening. As much as she dreamed of interacting with a "friendly" legendary Pokémon, she wouldn't want to do so like this.
Retracing her steps, she noticed a large amount of sand, as well as effort made to cover up some tracks that looked...human? Were these Sandygast and Palossand she battled earlier...trained? It was a frightening thought, but not one that would affect her desire to leave no stone of this tunnel unturned. She headed back to the fork and down its final direction, the right tunnel...

You Might Got More than You Bargained
When you gone to the right route, you suddenly noticed something weird. The wall, it's gradually getting blacker. You noticed however, that this is not its natural color as when you flashed light into it, it doesn't absorb as much light as if it's painted or if it's a natural black material. The smell no longer there, so you can't really pinpoint what is it actually... You also noticed that the passage was very long for some reason. Everything that awaits you from this point on seem to be just a long, black corridor, with very little lighting. You noted that there's not even torch handles. That's odd. You noticed that even in the two other rooms there are at least torch handles. And what's more, it's very dusty here. Very very dusty. It's not sand, it's ash... And not to mention the tunnel is strangely getting cramped in different places, unevenly.
...And then, the reason of this soon revealed. You felt something hot emanating from the end of the tunnel. When you reached there, you saw a gaping hole filled with magma, in the middle of what left of an old civilization. The buildings are melting from the sheer heat. Thank goodness you're almost a hundred feet above the lava hole... But you know, the problem wasn't just this lava, but a scary sight of what's left.
...You saw it
It just merely a husk, shaped into a frame... but it's there, as if preserved, or perhaps, it was still here until some time ago. Perhaps a thousand? Or a hundred? Who knows, but you saw it Molten skin of a serpent, crystalized, and seem to very well preserved. Its size easily double your current position in height. The socket for the eyehole was looking at where you are currently standing with such anger and malice, jaws open. That's when you noticed that the places where it was cramped? It's hardened by lava. What inside should not be spoken. Whatever is the source of this husk fortunately is no longer here, almost as if it laid waste to civilizaiton that tried to oppose it. Appeased, it returned to where it came from. At least that was the current conjecture.

The third passage seemed to be far longer than the other two, and far darker at that. The walls gradually turned jet black, making her have to feel her way forward. Her heart was pounding, raw curiosity the only thing filling the well of courage keeping her going forward. As she pressed on, a dim, orange light allowed her to again see, though only somewhat. It was also getting sweltering hot. "Phew!" she gasped as a puff of hot air caught her off guard. She peered down into the hole, at first seeing a magma lake roughly a hundred feet below her. As she circled the hole to get a better look, she could have sworn her heart skipped a beat after what she saw.
There were ruins poking out of the magma chamber. Obviously she wouldn't be able to explore it without a flying fire-type, or a flying-type that could shield her from the uninhabitable heat. Even if she did, there was something sinister-feeling about the ruins. Her suspicion was confirmed shortly afterward, the white and orange husk of a giant, serpentine creature. Even the husk itself burned with a flame that looked like it could reach up and grab her at any moment. She let out a terrified scream and dashed back out of the tunnel as fast as her legs would carry her, the image of her findings burning in her mind. She couldn't forget it even if she wanted to.

One Final Message
Just as you were about to run back to the entrance, you stumbled over an inscription. Unlike the other however, you saw that it's written with modern Pokemon script, perhaps made by descendant of people of this place. It was only readable when you pass through the main chamber to the exit, reason why you might have missed it at first. The inscription thus says:
"We have erred in our ways. In our attempt to subdue three disasters, we toyed with possibilities of evolution. To tame the nature, our hubris spurred us to create something unnatural, something that would make us face Arceus' Divine Judgment. We have played God, and we drowned in our own thirst for power. In turn we have reaped what we sow. We were fighting a volcano with just a small stream. Our civilization, glorious and wonderful as it was, now melted into the earth, back to its origin. We sealed this chamber in hope that no one will attempt what we have done, and destroyed our own creations ourselves. May no one repeat our mistakes. O Children of the Future, if one day you were to arrive to this ruin, let this be a lesson. Do not play God, for you're not one. You're just a mere mortal. If it comes the time where mankind and nature must clash once more, then dedicate your heart to altruism, not to selfishness. Raise your blade along with Pokemons who trusts the mankind. Only by working together with Pokemon could disaster be averted."
You noted that someone gave a stamp of their handprint at the end. It was... made with blood, as if someone is repenting a very griveous sin.

The story Shalin read on the inscription sounded a lot like Johto's Great Pokémon War of centuries past. While unsurprising that Ageos would have a legendary Pokémon-based conflict, it seemed this region's conflict was on a far larger scale than any of the regions she had traveled previously. Something else also grabbed her attention; there was a line about humans "playing God", and that the note itself was stamped in blood.
While the bloodshed from the Great War back in her home region had quite the toll of lost lives, it seemed that the calamity of millennia past may have gone so far as to alter the landscape. The kind of power that represented was just immense. Even "ordinary" Pokémon were powerful. She didn't want to think on it here, though; she simply snapped a picture of the inscription before heading out of the cave and back to Russetton, where she could make more sense of what she found.
