Training Grounds Rules
Training Grounds facilities are located throughout Ageos. While mostly built out of natural features, these man-made facilities were built to have a place for almost any kind of Pokémon to train effectively. Though not every individual facility has every type of terrain, there is just about every terrain type imaginable among all the facilities. Some are built out over the ocean; others feature primarily dense forest; others primarily rolling fields, and so on. These places are also under supervision by safety staff during all hours of operation, making it the ideal place for trainers to practice new techniques, or even train alongside their own Pokémon!
You are only permitted one Training thread at a time. While there are no limits on post count here, you must post on at least three separate days before the thread can be closed for rewards. This is the only RP area where there is no strict minimum word count, but thread rewards stem primarily from word count.
Every post must contain your post's word count and your total word count in that thread. This greatly assists Content Moderators in processing your thread for rewards.
It is recommended, but not required, that your training has a focus. While your training can consist of more than one activity, we don't want to see random training posts with no greater objective. Objectives can be anything you can think of. Some training threads we've seen in the past including Coordinators testing new move combinations, learning how to control an unusual Ride Pokémon, practicing a particular move, or even something as simple as strength-building.
If you wish to participate in a Training thread that is not yours (for instance, if you want to ICly observe a friend training), you may do so, but you must make an OOC note at the top of your first post stating that your character is not training in the Training thread. This is so Content Moderators can be aware your character will not receive Training rewards. If the Training thread reaches one full page or more, all characters, including those not training, will receive universal thread rewards.
Once a Pokémon has completed a Training Thread, that Pokémon cannot participate in another Training Thread for two weeks.
Move Relearning
To replace a move with a level-up move that is below the Pokémon's current level, a 250-word training post is required, focusing on practicing the desired move. Once this is completed, you will need to Mod Call to verify. You may also choose to Mod Call at the end of your Training Thread if it would be easier to do everything at the same time - just make a note in the last post that a move was retrained.
Note that to put an old level-up move into an empty move slot, no training is required. Move Relearning training is specifically for replacing current moves with old level-up moves. A Move Relearner Guide, which can be bought from the Shop, is another way to relearn old level-up moves.
High Level Moves
Some level-up moves can only be learned at a level so high that it may be above the current sitewide level cap. If your Pokémon has reached the current level cap, it can learn moves above the level cap through a Training Thread. The word count requirement for any given move is 40 multiplied by the difference between the level the move is learned at and the current level cap. For instance, if a level-up move is learned at level 64 and the current level cap is 25, the required word count would be 39 times 40, or 1,560. While every single word does not need to be related to training (e.g. quick breaks and dialogue are okay), the majority of the word count should be focused on practicing the move.
Move Tutor Moves
To replace a move with a Move Tutor move, a Move Tutor Guide and 250-word training post are required, focusing on practicing the desired move. Once this is completed, you will need to Mod Call to verify. You may also choose to Mod Call at the end of your Training Thread if it would be easier to do everything at the same time - just make a note in the last post that a Tutor Move was learned. Note that there is a more expensive item in the Shop that will let you teach a Tutor Move with no word count requirement.
Self Spawning
You may also self-spawn Pokémon and Trainers to battle against. Self-spawned Pokémon need to be posted either at the top or the bottom of the thread. There is a limit of six self-spawned Pokémon per thread. You cannot capture Pokémon spawned this way. These Pokémon are also generally much friendlier than wild Pokémon, but still love to battle. You may also play self-spawned Pokémon as being owned by a random NPC trainer. This is a great way to battle against Gym Trainers that are not the Leader.
Rewards
World of Pokémon: Ageos uses a diminishing-returns system for Training Grounds rewards, as follows:
You receive 1 level and 10 Pen for every 250 words up to 2,500; after that, every 350 words up to 6,000; after that, every 500 words up to 11,000, for a maximum of 30 levels and 300 Pen.
You receive a random common item for every 500 words up to 2,500; after that, every 700 words up to 6,000; after that, every 1,000 words up to 11,000, for a maximum of 15 items.
You receive a Rare Candy for every 1,000 words up to 10,000 words, for a maximum of 10 Rare Candies.
At 2,500, 6,000, and 11,000 words, you may expand one trained Pokémon's move slot capacity by two.
There are no thread rewards past 11,000 words. Give your Pokémon a break!
