It was early in the morning, where the mist still thick and the dews bring welcoming cool rather than cold. Normally Tetsu would wake up around this time, goes on a trek around the forest, foraging for any wild berries and mushrooms under guidance of experienced survival Pokemon like Alexandrite. However, today was a bit different. If anything, there were sound of two hard objects hitting each other, sometimes followed by some spirited cries as if someone is attacking one another.
Slightly a walk away from the den is a training ground, made by Tetsu and his Pokemons in order to emulate what they have back home. Pity that they has yet to find any sort of waterfall though. Tetsu would have loved to meditate under one. But whatever. The training ground itself is full of various training equipments, traditional as they might be. There are a massive rock that meant to be pushed to a certain distance... and considering the texture of the ground undermeath would seem to be a decent challenge. There are also several pillars with sizeable steps, seems used for both hopping course and fighting on top of small space ala shaolin martial artists. There are also some trenches and different obstacles for obstacle run, also several tracks, hanging rings and even trampolines that would do good as acrobatics obstacle run.
While it's not exactly a swimming pool, Tetsu has also made a clearwater pond. It size is double the width of a school swimming pool though, mainly so his water Pokemons could easily stay here if they want, or get moved away to nearby river if they want to hunt. It also doubles as their swimming course of course...
But while those are important... there are also a fighting ring somewhere nearby. This somewhere nearby happened to be the center of the training ground. It's made not for Pokemon sparring exactly in mind, so it does not have the usual ring marking... but more of a traditional, sumo ring instead. The size is doubled, but the necessities are still there. The two that's currently on the ring is the Pokemon trainer himself and his most trusted partner.
"ORAAA!" with a spirited cry, Tetsu attempted a straight punch toward Riku's guarding arms, sending him skidding backward. Of course between a Lucario and a human, the winner will be a Lucario. However, Tetsu himself has been strengthening his arms with Aura Reinforcement since a while ago, proven by how his arms got faint green light around it. This means little though, as Lucario is part steel. Immediately after the attack, Riku would kick the ground. With a sharp bark, he would counter the attack with a roundhouse kick. This is part of his way to give Tetsu moment to react. Tetsu dodged and attempted to sweep the other leg. The weakness of Lucario is the shape of their leg, which is not meant to hold firm to the ground. Yet, that is also their strength. The moment Riku hits the ground, he would do an Ukemi and attempted to rise through a spinning kick, which Tetsu once again dodged by backflipping.
Both combatants immediately gone to their corners. They're breathing heavily. Riku because he just fought Sphalerite and was forced to be on defensive before this, and Tetsu from sparring for roughly ten minutes now. Sparring is definitely harder than just a mere training with several reps. Sometimes a certain training doesn't really consume his stamina because they're repetitive actions, but this o the other hand? This is different. Using whole body in burst of speed and power in order to overwhelm your opponent is different than the kind of training meant to increase your endurance. Either way, they're not done.
Tetsu slowly moved his arm forward, to which the sword that has been on the sideline for a while now immediately flew to his arm. Durandal the Honedge. Tetsu don't quite like to use Durandal against his other Pokemon because it feels... kind of wrong. It feels like going seriously against his Pokemons, and that feeling... doesn't feel great, but Riku has requested it. They'll grow stronger if they use this method. Both of them that is. Durandal would wrap his tassel around Tetsu's arm like a weave, strengthening it. Admittedly with Durandal, Tetsu gained better efficiency in fighting, but at the same time he also will get tired faster because ally or not, Durandal's constitution is those of a ghost. Using ghost sword to battle is akin to being possessed, albeit this one is a controlled possessing rather than a possessing controlled by the possessor.
Tetsu kicked the ground, the first attack was already dangerous, an Aerial Ace! Riku immediately started to dodge, but he forgot that Aerial Ace is highly accurate move. It took him his all to even dodge the move several times, and his all to stop the blade from actually hitting him squarely. With a roar, he began sword dance. In response, Tetsu too ordered Durandal to do a sword dance. With the speed. WHile sword dance while possessing Tetsu would not affect the boy's overall speed or strength, Durandal know that. And Riku knows what will happen. He begin with Flash Cannon! However, due to Durandal's quick thinking, both Tetsu and the sword melds with the shadow, and reappareared right behind him. Riku however already guessed-- but he did not guess that Tetsu would immediately counter his almost thrown Aura Sphere by sending Durandal away from his arm like a flying sword, using Aerial Ace, right toward the aura sphere! Durandal's appetite toward life energy would means he immediately sipped the Aura Sphere to nothing. Even if Riku wanted to counter, it was too late. Tetsu's other arm, meanwhile, coated with aura, with immediately struck Riku's stomach.
That was a point.
Both combatant immediately fall to the ground, wheezing. "Are you sure this is even the right way to do it!?" Tetsu asked Riku.
<Without doubt> he answered unhestiatingly.
The duo's plan is to challenge the gym, specifically the Slate City gym. Riku theorized that while indeed Tetsu would gain recognition by doing expeditions and explorations alone, that would probably feels like only a bare minimum to be acknowledged by Reshiram. So in order to make it feels like Reshiram did not picked him wrong... They'll do quite a lot of everything. Contest, Pokemon Battle in Gym... and even exploration and quests... they'll do all of it, and gained a certain amount of fame and reputation around Ageos. With this, Reshiram would definitely not gonna say that they picked the wrong warrior.
"Ah drats... that was the first time I gone seriously against you! I really don't want to do that again!" Tetsu commented. "It feels wrong you know!"
<Suck it up> Riku retorted <Enemies, give no mercy. I will. I'm strong, I'm your buddy. Fight me seriously while you can.>
"I don't quite get it, but you're definitely telling me to suck it up, right!? Hhh... seriously, you..."
Tetsu immediately took off his shirt and wrung it to dry. "I'm going to take a break. Come to think of it, who's participating in the battle again? Oh right, you, Titanite and... Chrysophrase. Huh that's quite the strange lineup. I guess this is fine. On the side... Rutile, Alexandrite and Rubedo, right?" A nod from Riku. Tetsu sat on the edge of the fighting ring, where there are long benches. He quickly put a towel wetted with cold water on his face. Today... immediately started intense huh.
