It's been a while since Jae was on the training grounds. However, the main difference was that she was in the main area where several tools and obstacles made for a Flying-type, something that she had her eyes on ever since one of the employees recommended her to train in this area. This was because ever since she got her Taillow, he was nothing but trouble not only to her but also to her other Pokemon during their training and small rehearsals. It was even worse as it refused to return to his Poke Ball willingly after the battle, which got him back caused her more concerns than controlling his behavior. Sighing, she took out her Poke Ball from her pocket and said, "Alright, let's see what I can do we can do with your attitude, Jet."
She then tossed in the air and once it released her Tiny Swallow Pokemon on the ground, who then looked around at his new surroundings. "Okay, Jet. I know you're confused that we're not in Cerise City, but there is a good reason w-" But just as she could finish, the bird suddenly flew off and scouted around the area for opponents to fight with. "H-Hey! I'm not finished yet! Come back here!"
The blue swallow bird continued to zip around the training ground until the Coordinator caught him with her two bare hands, which he started to flail about in annoyance. "This is what I'm trying to prove here! If you keep zipping around ignoring my commands, you might cost me a few matches and some Contests! Not only that, trying to continue the fight that we finish even after I tell you to return isn't helping us either!" Thankfully, the bird stopped flailing, which allowed her to gently put him down on the ground. "Look, you have talent outside of just battling, too. However, your over-eagerness to endure and continue the battle even if it's over may dampen your skills a bit. That's why you need to learn some self-restraint like me!"
As soon as she said this, her eyes widened in realization and corrected, "Okay, scratch that part. But I am serious about improving your attitude a bit. So how about this? We'll find a few wild Pokemon and some willing trainers to battle and if you win about 3 battles, then your training is over. However, you must do it while listening to every command I say. Got it?" Jet stared at his trainer for a few seconds. Then he nodded yes. "Cool. I'll be right back with some wild Pokemon for you to spar with."
She then headed into the trees and searched through them in an attempt to find the said Pokemon. After a few minutes, she returned with three Pokemon by her side and pulled out her phone. "Okay, let's see here. We got a Munchlax, a female Nidoran, and a... Milcery, right?" The wild Pokemon cried happily in response. "Good. You'll be sparring with my Taillow here to teach him a little lesson today. Don't worry, all of you can go back once we're done here." They cried again, happy to help out a friendly human as she turned to Jet. "Alright, let's get ready for sparring, Jet. Hope you're prepared for it."
The bird caw as they headed to the battlefield. Once there, Jae and her Taillow found themselves facing against a large Milcery first while the other wild Pokemon stood there as they watch them from the side. "Okay, Milcery! Don't hold back!"
With that said, the Cream Pokemon started by charging towards the Tiny Swellow Pokemon with her Tackle. However, the bird quickly flew up to avoid it before dove in and tackled them with Brave Bird. The Milcery retaliated by throwing a kiss to Jet, which a heart came out and headed towards him. However, he flew to his left and Pecked her. The Fairy-type then used this chance when it kept pecking her by Tackling him, which pushed him a few feet away from her. This made him angrier as he flew up again and used another Brave Bird, which was another direct hit to his opponent. But once he did so, Jet slightly flinched due to the recoil of his attack.
"Jet, maybe try not to use Brave Bird again. Try to use Peck instead!" Hearing this, Jet cawed as he charged in with the said attack. Once he did so, the Cream Pokemon retaliated with another Sweet Kiss. This time, the kiss hit Jet, which caused him to lose his balance in his flight, much to Jae's shock. "Jet, are you okay?!" She shouted, horrified to see her bird about to lose altitude. "Oh, man. You're confused! I really don't know how to deal with that condition, too." She sighed in defeat, knowing this might not end well if she let this continue. "I guess this is GG for us. Jet, that's enough!"
Despite her call, the Tiny Swellow Pokemon didn't seem to listen as he charged towards Milcery with another Brave Bird. This was a clean hit as the Fairy-type flew a few feet backward while Jet found itself flew in the other direction. Jae screamed in horror before she entered the battlefield and quickly caught her Taillow before he could hit the ground. However, he started to struggle as Jae shouted, "Jet, when I said enough, that means the battle is over!"
The bird didn't listen as he managed to free himself from Jae's grasp and tried to use Brave Bird on Milcery, only for the Fairy-type to move to her left, which caused him to crash on the ground. Horrified, Jae screamed Taillow's nickname as she rushed to his side and gently picked him up. As for their opponent, the Cream Pokemon rushed to the Coordinator in worry as she managed to get back on her feet and turned to see her.
"Don't worry, I'm okay. Really," she said to the wild Pokemon with a smile. However, she quickly dropped it when she turned to Jet as she frowned at him instead. "As for you, mister, this is why we're here in the first place. There's a thing called a limit and if you keep this charade up even if I said it's over, it might cost us the first Contest win."
Sure, her loss was actually the result of her lack of knowledge on trying to get through Confusion during the battle, which she had to work on that someday, but she wanted to teach Jet to restrict his eagerness while retaining his motivation to battle. To her surprise, the Normal/Flying-type seemed to hang his head in shame, which was something she didn't see from him ever since she captured him.
"Okay, Jet, just answer me first. Do you love battling?" The Pokemon continued staring at his trainer before he answered by nodding up and down. "Then do you like to win just to show off?" The Taillow nodded again, to which she sighed in response. "And do you really think stopping is going to sour your pride, correct?" He slightly flinched at this before he nodded again. "I see..."
Jae's job as a Coordinator didn't involve battling, but she didn't mind about it since it was not only for self-defense, but she didn't want to be labeled as a Coordinator who could only dress up and dance for the public. Besides, she was a video game streamer and she picked it up because she wanted to befriend Pokemon and try new things as she could, both for her development as a streamer and as a person. With that in thought, she hummed in thought and looked down on her Pokemon.
"I understand you want to prove yourself, but as I said before, you need to learn restraint. I was like you once. When I first started my video game streaming channel, most of my exciting persona somehow leaked out in my school and private life, which tends to give me a bit of trouble. Because of this, I had to spend a few days trying to restraint my excitement to the point I had to suspend my live-streaming schedule to take a mental health break. All I'm saying is even though we can break our limits to reach our goals, there are some that we still need to restrict ourselves that might hurt us or anyone nearby. You get what I'm saying, right, Jet?"
The Tiny Swallow Pokemon stared at her after listening to her explanation. After a few seconds, the bird nodded yes, much to Jae's relief.
"Alright, let's take it from the top after a few minutes of rest. Sound good?" Jet nodded again, which she carried him to the bench for them and the wild Pokemon to rest.
