It was safe to say, that Ettie was getting quite the entourage of pokemon by now. Rockruff, Electrike, Snubbull, Lillipup, Furfrou, Popplios, Yampers, Fennekin, and - most recently - a pair of Absols, Aster and Leon. Though Ettie had caught three Absols during her trek in the Badlands, it didn't take too long for her to find a trainer willing to take in the smallest of the trio - Venati - whereas the two larger absols seemed to mesh right in with the rest of her pack.
Which is what would bring Ettie to the Training Grounds today; Aster following close behind as they made their way to the track, and Ettie hopped onto the Absol's back. "Alright, Aster!" She would chirp with a warm smile. "Ready to give this a shot?"
Aster, for the most part, was unsure of how to feel of this place; given how everything reeked of humans. But, he remembered the promise that Ettie had made to him out in the Badlands - that they would keep an eye out for each other, as packmates - and so he would try to remain calm for now. <... Yes.> He would respond simply; letting his eyes cast back towards the road ahead of him. Better they focus on the task at hand, and get this over with now, rather than later.
"Alright then, let's go...!"

And thus, the duo would be off down the road; going at a respectable trot, with Ettie having grown used to riding atop another pokemon's back, thanks to the plenty of practice that Pierre had provided in the past. Without proper riding gear, Ettie would instead carefully knot her fingers in the fur around Aster's neck, giving gentle little nudges and the like to direct the Absol as necessary.
Otherwise, though? The young girl, admittedly, was perfectly content in letting Aster have a good deal of control over the trek. The Absol knew himself best as far as his own handling went, after all; and he wasn't dumb, either - he knew how to follow the marked track, that winded about the course. All that was left was for Ettie to dictate the speed, and to let him know if she wanted him to go in a different direction and the like.
And if they did run into something that required more than a nudge or tug to direct Aster through, Ettie was perfectly content to speak to the Absol as well. "How well do you think we'd do at those slopes over there?" She'd ask Aster, humming gently. With him hailing from mountainous regions, that would probably make for a good deal of practice, right?

The question, though, seemed to pique at Aster's more prideful side. <Easy.> He would respond, turning off of the main portion of the course, to instead approach the indicated obstacles. Claws digging in as the Absol crouched down - Ettie's only warning to prepare for a leap - Aster would spring forward up the slope, easily finding footholds and grips to prevent tumbling back down as he scaled what likely wasn't technically meant to be for ride training.
Nonetheless, Ettie was giggling happily as she watched Aster work at it; holding onto him tightly to avoid falling off, as they went higher and higher up. "This is great!" She'd chirp to the Absol - reaching a hand to pet over the side of his neck as they began to clamber up to the top. "You really are made for climbing mountains, huh?"
<Easily as Skiddos.> Aster confirmed with his chin held high, the dark type's confidence clear as day. Ettie's praise and glee were certainly stroking his ego a bit - that much was obvious here - though he, at least, did well to not gloat too hard.

Descending from the slope would be just as easy - if not easier, given the large leaps and bounds that the Absol would make to expedite the trip downwards. It was certainly a bit of a rough one, with Ettie bouncing slightly on the Absol's back; but she otherwise did well to keep her grip, continuing to giggle and squeal with joy, her aura-tail wagging all the whilst "Wheeeeee-hee-heeeee...!"
Thus, it was likely to be expected when the rest of the course would go off without a hitch; Aster's speed and maneuverability certainly impressive, compared to Pierre's. Really, the only things that Ettie would note as downsides would be that Pierre was likely better fit for more civilized routes - and that riding on Aster sometimes jostled her a bit, here and there. In addition, Pierre's 'slow and steady' likely fared well for longer treks than Aster's high speeds did.
Nonetheless though, she loved riding atop either pokemon equally; and as the day wrapped up, Ettie couldn't help but wonder what other sorts of pokemon she'd end up riding alongside in the future...··
