"Now now, why are you like this, Sphalerite..."
It was early in the morning. Tetsu's plan was to train as usual, yet today there was a difference. A certain Charmeleon blocked the way, crossing his arms. Although he wasn't good with making mean face due to his Docile nature, Tetsu knows that he wanted something and will not move until he follows through what he wanted.
"There's no need to make that kind of face you know... Here," Tetsu strokes his cheek. The huge fire lizard let out a small purring sound as he leaned his cheek on his trainer's hand. "...But I think this is not what you want isn't it?"
Sphalerite nodded. "Then what is it that you wanted? You don't usually try to pull this kind of thing outta sudden."
Answering that, he pointed at a shelf where Tetsu's Charizardite Y is nestled. "...Ah, yeah, I'm taking that to the blacksmith so they can make some cool accessory for you," he answered. "Then when you evolve to Charizard, we just need to prove our bond!"
But the Charmeleon shook his head. He gently bumped Tetsu's chest with his fist. "What's that? You feel you're not good enough?"
It's hard to communicate, but the fire lizard smiled. He pointed at a saddle.
"...Oh I see now..."

Riding on a bipedal Pokemon, you generally need to ride them either by piggyback or by being carried by them... Yet, Sphalerite have different kind of idea. On all four, the Charmeleon instead looked like the more race based Pokemon.
"Isn't it harder if you're on all four?" Tetsu asked. Yet, Sphalerite did not answer and is staring at the blinking race lamp. Once it turns green, it's when their training started... "Oh... oh don't tell me..."
The moment the light turns green, he immediately shoot out embers from his tail. It wasn't as effective as flamethrower, but even then the ember managed to propulse him forward, faster than usual. To conserve energy, Sphalerite did not shoot it continuously, but as a burst between his strides, before his limbs hits the ground, to pushes him forward, and encourages him to move faster and faster. Tetsu found out that the dragon's acceleration might be lacking because he's not used on walking on all four, but he's very stable on turning due to his enlarged claws which makes it possible for him to digs and do sharp turns before resuming his burst. Now, all that remains are how for him to pass through obstacles.

Surprisingly, when faced with obstacle, the Charmeleon stopped, but not for long. Immediately, he bulds up more Ember on his tail. The moment he's done, he shoot it out as a circle of flame that propels him upward! Granted, it made Tetsu had to cling on his neck and shoulder, but the two human and Pokemon managed to climb pass the obstacle, which happened to be quite the sizable cliff. Tetsu laughed out loud. "Ah, drats... I'm not sure if you'll be on the ground for a prolonged amount of time later, because you're going to be a flying dragon after all, but... hey! You're having fun, yeah?"
Sphalerite roared, his tail swishing. He might not be Charmeleon for anytime longer soon... but for the meantime, he have found himself another role on how to carry his partner.
