Construction Work
An empty lot had recently opened up near one of the city Pokemarts and the owner of a local convenience store chain couldn't help but buy it out for construction almost immediately. The traffic the Pokemart gets would be excellent for business, so the call went out to those who would be willing to assist in the construction. There were already Machoke and Timburr workers taking care of the foundation and framing, so they mostly needed people to haul the materials and hand them over.
Koa was decently strong and had the stamina to to work on a strenuous job like this. He could use the extra money after his transfer to Ageos, so it was the perfect opportunity to do some good. He carried a few pieces of lumber to the Timburr and helped the Machoke as much as he could with the beams, though even with the help that was a little rough. Still, he was glad to be doing his part.
He helped a Machoke set up one of the beams and the Timburr placing part of the frame before wiping his brow "Phew, good work so far everybody..." He said with a sigh. It was coming along nicely, and Koa was looking forward to it being open to the public. It honestly was a good idea to have this be next door to a Pokemart. Two places to shop for different needs in one perfect location. He decided to check on the other workers and Pokemon to see how they were doing.

Everyone seemed to be in pretty high spirits. Morale was good and the crew got back to doing some work before it was time to take a break for lunch. They were making good time and the building was coming along nicely. It was structurally sound with no cut corners to be seen for the moment.
It was pretty lively around here with small talk going on and the Pokemon communicating in their own ways. It's been a while since Koa had been involved with such an outgoing community. It made him think of the days back in Alola. He had stayed home for a while before his transfer, and he definitely needed that.
This sort of work was too strenuous for any of his Pokemon at the moment so they were all resting in their pokeballs as Koa continued the heavy lifting along with the others. The others were appreciative that a ranger would take the time to help out with city infrastructure and he figured it was the least he could do for the warm welcome they had provided for him. He worried he would be ostracized in some way for being the new guy around, but to his surprise everything was going smoothly. For now he focused on the task at hand and kept an eye out for any trouble or issues that could arise during construction.

Koa Leilani Random Event!Disaster soon strikes as a Machoke who overestimated its strength soon stumbles and is buried underneath the beams it was carrying! One of the beams snaps through one of the wooden supports, meaning that would have to be replaced. What happens next?

Almost as soon as it happened, everyone scrambled to help the Machoke out of its situation. Thankfully they seemed uninjured but they would have to work fast to get the beams off. Then there was the issue with the beam "Hey, can someone tell me the length of that beam that just broke?" Koa called out. As soon as he was given the measurements he committed them to memory as he struggled to pull the beams off the unfortunate Pokemon.
Once the team successfully managed to unbury the Machoke, Koa rushed over to the stacks of wooden support beams while the others carefully removed the broken one. He found a pretty solid look piece that was up to the specifications he was told and hefted it over his shoulder as he moved to assist in the replacement. The Machoke was already back at it, if not a little sore as it seemed a bit bashful for the trouble he caused "Hey, hey...it's alright, we all stumble from time to time. Keep at it and let's fix this together alright?" Koa encouraged, much to the Pokemon's delight. It took a little while for them to get the beam back into place. Thankfully they managed to get it done before more significant damage occurred.
Due to that situation, lunch was delayed for a bit while important repairs were underway, which disappointed the crew. Though Koa's quick thinking and assistance was greatly appreciated.

Koa Leilani Random Event! No rest for the weary, unfortunately. The lunch break was soon but they had to haul in more supplies beforehand. Nothing broke, but morale was slowly dropping as everyone was getting sore and tired.

Everyone groaned as they brought in more supplies for the build. They were all getting hungry and just wanted to sit down and take a break, but they had to make up for lost time with the previous incident. Koa felt bad, but decided to try and encourage everyone "Lunch will taste all the better for it, everyone! Just a little more and we can finally take a break. Split into groups and pick something to haul in, let's go!" He shouted.
Soon everyone was working in unison as they all got into teams to carry in specific materials into the construction site. They were all still tired but the prospect of a good meal kept them going for a little while longer. Koa's little inspiration just so happened to work as he carried in more lumber. This was good exercise anyway, and perfect preparation for any ranger tests he might have to deal with in the future. He may have started fresh, but he was looking forward to climbing the ranks again with his team.
Koa hoped there wouldn't be any more snags. He and the rest of them definitely needed to take a breather otherwise some of them might just collapse from exhaustion.

Koa Leilani Random Event! There wasn't much left to do, but a few things still had to be organized. The schedule for the next shift had to be confirmed and a few materials had to be stacked properly. Otherwise it seemed the shift was just about over.

Koa wiped the sweat off his brow and went to the foreman to get things squared way for the next shift. He informed Koa that he had done plenty for the team already and was free to head out as soon as lunch was over. Koa nodded, but he decided to get some more work done before it was time to go.
He started organizing the materials into neat, organized stacks, getting the Machokes to help get the beams into position. He guided workers as they brought in stuff for the counters and helped mark locations where the shelves and fridges would go. It was tiring, but satisfying work. This store would be a great addition to the street and help bring some traffic to both shops once it was all finished. Sure today's shift was pretty brutal with the constant mishaps, but they all managed to pull through in the end.
Once everything was all set, Koa sat down with everyone for lunch as they all sighed in relief and anticipated a nice meal for all their hard work. Koa was reminded of home, oddly enough. The tight knit community, the support they all gave one another. It was a nice feeling. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little sad. He left behind some friends from the previous region...he wondered if he would ever see any of them again. Maybe one day.
