"Hey, hey! Did you miss me? Then JaeTrickster is here!" The young black haired girl declared as she stood in front of the west gate of Slate City. "This is it! It's time for me to hit the road and work my way up to the world of Pokemon Contests! And to do that, I'm heading to another city where the first upcoming Contest will begin for this season! Cerise Contest Hall!"
As she proudly raised her arms in excitement, her red-furred Absol wearing a mount watched her trainer filmed herself for her vlog, aware that they were departing for Cerise City just for that. Yet, she couldn't help but worry over her partner's upcoming trek through the route.
"Of course. I'm not going to enter with Aki alone. I do have some of my Pokemon in the ready. Unfortunately, they're still back in Sinnoh, and my relatives there have to help out with the borders for them to come to Ageos." Recalling that said memory made her a bit frustrated as she mentally missed her Pokemon there. However, she quickly perked up and smiled at the camera again. "But don't worry! For today's vlog, I'm going to catch new Pokemon along the way as well as train Aki to the top! So what are we waiting for? Let's get hiking!"
She then pressed stop on her phone camera and picked up her backpack before she jumped onto Aki's back.
"Alright, Aki. I'm counting on you to take me through Route 5. It's time for adventure!"
Despite her sighing, Aki followed her command and started walking through the route to their destination.

As Aki continued to walk through Route 5, Jae hummed some tunes as she checked on her phone for her social media without looking up to see her surroundings.
"Hmmm... Catching Pokemon should be good content for my vlog, but I think I need something more. Like finding an undiscovered cave or a trainer battle or..."
Her sentence was interrupted when her Absol stopped walking and cried out to her. She looked up and saw that a young boy wearing a straw hat, blue shirt, and shorts while he held a net in his left hand as he grinned at her.
"Um... Do you need anything?" She asked in confusion. "I'm a bit busy thinking of some stuff right now."
The boy just pulled out his Poke Ball and pointed at her with a grin. "When two trainers' eyes meet, they must have a battle! So that means you and I must have a battle!"
"Trainers' eyes? I don't know. I'm more of a Coordinator than a trainer to me."
"Whatever. Just battle me and I will let you pass!"
Jae hummed at this challenge and looked at her shiny Pokemon in concern.
"What do you think, Aki? Think a battle would stir up my vlog?" The Dark-type also hummed as he stared at the boy and shrugged in response. "Guess we'll find out then." She then got off her Ride Pokemon and removed her mount as Aki stepped forward. "Alright, I'll accept it. But I warn you that I won't hold back."
"Yeah, yeah. Volbeat, let's go and greet with Flash!" The boy shouted as he tossed a Poke Ball that released a firefly-like Pokemon, which it turned and used its tail to flash a bright white light in front of Aki. This caused her to flinch as she closed her eyes in an attempt to shield herself from the attack.
"Aki, are you okay?" Aki barked to her trainer, which Jae sighed in relief. "Okay, okay. That's not a good start. Just calm down. What kind of attack should I use first? Go on the offense? Try to be defensive?" But just as she hummed in thought, she suddenly heard the Bug Catcher ordered his Pokemon to Tackle her Pokemon. At this point, she gasped and shouted, "Aki, use... Uh... Leer!"
Hearing her trainer's order, the Disaster Pokemon glared at her opponent with her now glowing eyes, which flinched the bug Pokemon a bit. However, the boy quickly ordered him to use Tackle, which he did so as it managed to push the Dark-type. Shocked, Jae narrowed her eyes and commanded her to use Zen Headbutt, which Aki's head glow before she tried to charge onto the firefly, only for it to dodge her attack before it used Tackle again.
"Don't give up, Aki! Use Quick Attack next!"
The monochrome Pokemon glared at her opponent before she charged at full speed, which she managed to tackle on its chest. However, Volbeat responded by using Flash right in front of her, which briefly blinded her before it Tackled her right on the chest.
"Hah! How's that, girly? When it comes to my Volbeat, we're unstoppable! Not even a poor excuse of a Dark-type can't go up against him!" When she heard this, the Disaster Pokemon gasped in horror and barked to the Bug Catcher as if she was trying to warn him. "Huh? What's wrong with your Pokemon? It seems that it's somehow overreacting over a..."
But when he looked up, he quickly gasped in horror to see the ordinarily chirpy streamer glaring at the Bug Catcher. Even the normally calm Absol was shaken up when seeing her trainer like this.
"Now you've done it, brat," she said in a mature and monotonous tone. "I'm okay with the "girly" nickname, but nobody calls Aki useless."
"H-Huh?!"
Before he could act, Jae calmly ordered Aki to Leer three times and despite the reluctance, she glared at Volbeat with the said attack, much to his shock. Panicked, the Bug Catcher commanded him to use Tackle four times during her Leer, but she managed to dodge two of them before her trainer commanded her to use Zen Headbutt. Unlike before, she managed to headbutt Volbeat's chest, which caused it to flinch before she attacked him with Quick Attack. It then tried to use Flash once more, but Jae commanded Aki to dodge it before she finished it off with another Zen Headbutt. Upon seeing his bug Pokemon fainted, he became speechless at the sight of this.
"N-No way... M-My Volbeat..."
He slowly looked up, fearing to see his opponent's face. But to his surprise, it seemed that Jae returned to her cheerful smile as she bowed to him and approached him as she offered her hand to him.
"Looks like we won. Thank you for the battle!"
However, still fearful at what he just witnessed, the Bug Catcher quickly gave her a pouch of items and another pouch of money inside before he ran off and shouted, "I'm sooorrryyyy!!!"
As the boy left, Jae stood there, confused at what she saw until she turned to see her still shocked Absol.
"Uh... I did it again, do I?" She sheepishly asked, to which Aki responded with a nod. "Oh, man. Thank goodness I forgot to record it. It would be a bit embarrassing. Oh well..."
She then put the mount back on Aki before she rode on her to continue her journey to her destination.

After the trainer battle, Jae was back humming and checking her phone on Aki's back once more as the Dark-type silently walked through the route. So far, there was nothing that impeded their path. Unknown to them, a dark blue bird that perched on one of the trees' branches watched the duo walked through the pavement-less road with its narrowed eyes.
"I'm happy with our victory. But other than my embarrassing reaction to that Bug Catcher, I think we need more than a trainer battle," Jae muttered. "Which means we need to catch a Pokemon right here and now. It may take a while for the rest of the gang to get here, but we need a whole set to conquer a bunch of Contests. I wish there's one flying towards us right n-"
Before she could finish, Aki's eyes widened, and quickly sidestepped just as a blue blur almost hit her trainer. However, this caused Jae to scream as she hung onto her reins before the Dark-type stopped and glared at the culprit.
"What was that all about, Aki?!" She demanded as she tried to regain her balance. But as she managed to do so, she screamed when the same blur divebombed in her direction. In a fit of panic, she quickly jumped out of Aki's back to avoid her blur. As she got back up, Jae gasped to see the dark blue bird flying in front of her. "W-Wow! A Taillow! I never have seen it outside of videos before!" She gasped again when the Pokemon quickly tried to attack, which she ducked down as her Dark-type joined by her side. "And it's a bit feisty. I like it! Hey, Taillow! Wanna join my team?"
However, the Flying/Normal-type replied by rising into the sky, and seeing this, Aki quickly ran in front of her trainer and charged in just as Taillow dived onto its intended target and hit her instead. This resulted in her to headbutt the bird in the process.
"Was that a no?" Jae sheepishly asked before she witnessed her Absol dropped on the ground in pain. "Aki, are you okay?" The Disaster Pokemon nodded as she got up from her feet. "Alright. If it doesn't want to come willingly, we'll do it by force! I'm not leaving until we get my first Pokemon in our home region!"
Aki growled in determination before she noticed the Taillow flew towards her direction with its whole body enveloped in the white aura. However, she used Quick Attack to dodge its attack and tackled it down. Annoyed, the blue Flying/Normal-type flew around and pecked on her head. She then responded by dashing to it and used Zen Headbutt again. It tried to move its wings to fly away again, but the Taillow realized it flinched from Aki's attack.
"Alright! Weaken it more with Quick Attack!"
The Absol nodded before she zipped towards the Tiny Swallow Pokemon and tackled it again with full speed. In glee, Jae took out her Poke Ball and threw it to the falling Taillow.

As the ball absorbed the Flying/Normal-type, it dropped on the ground and shook. Once. Twice. Thrice. And a click.
Hearing this, Jae quickly screamed in joy as she grabbed her ball and jumped around before she ran to her Absol. "We did it, we did it, Aki! We finally caught my first Pokemon in Ageos!" She screeched and hugged on her ball, which weirded her Absol a bit. "Oh, right! We should do an update clip. I know we didn't get footage of our capture, but we don't want to let them see a wild Pokemon almost try to hurt a streamer, right? But first, we should take care of your wounds."
Aki nodded and smiled, knowing while she was a bit quirky, she was aware of the limits of what she could record and she cared a lot about her since she got her. With that said, she used a Potion from her bag and squirted most of its contents onto her body. After that, she pulled out her phone camera and started on her clip.
"Hey, everyone! We finally caught my first Pokemon in this route and unfortunately, we haven't got any footage due to... unfortunate encounter with it. But we got it right here in the ball," she said, which she showed the Poke Ball to the camera. "So what are we waiting for? Time to shine, Taillow!"
She threw the ball in the air and released the said Flying/Normal-type, which he looked around in confusion.
"Everyone, this is my new Taillow! Since it's very feisty and good for Tough or Cool Contests, I think I'll call it Jet! What do you think?" However, the Pokemon replied with a divebomb in her direction, which caused her to scream and ducked down. "Hey! You can't do that on camera! Cut it out!"
But he ignored her scolding as he continued to attack Jae and Aki, much to their dismay and confusion.

The end of fall was coming, Shalin taking the last chance she would get to explore the Whitecap Mountains before the snow line went beneath the trail and it got stupidly cold - too cold for her flitting bug-types that would need to hibernate all winter. It was still a bit cold for them, Queen Zing taking quite a bit of time stretching her wings. Afterward, Shalin let Flit out of his Poké Ball, the cheerful and curious dragonfly buzzing alongside the Beedrill. After the blonde swung herself aboard the giant wasp, both of them took to the air and headed north, though only hovering a few feet off the ground. Any higher up, and it would get too cold for them to maintain flight. A little further down the road, Shalin sighted a girl even shorter than she was, dressed in varying shades of purple and pink. She appeared to be under attack from a Taillow; though her Absol seemed to be competent at defending her, it was still a situation that could result in the other getting injured. "We gotta do something about this, without hurting any of them. Think you could scare them away?" Shalin asked the yellow-and-black Pokémon. With a nod, the bug-type changed course to directly face the Taillow. "Cover your ears!" she shouted in the female's general direction, A few seconds later, her Beedrill mount zipped toward the Taillow and started buzzing loudly and furiously, Shalin's sense of touch suppressed by feedback from the shaking bee. --- Jae Tsukuda {WC: 253} {PC: 1} NAME SPECIES LV EP Queen Zing Beedrill 11 3 Caprice Ninetales 13 3 Flit Yanma 8 3 Kiku Stunky 11 3

Jae continued to scream as the bird continued to peck on her head while Aki tried to catch the little rascal. She was about to shed a tear until she heard a female's voice to cover her ears. When she turned around, she saw a blonde-haired girl with a yellow and black bee Pokemon on her side, which she realized what she was about to do. "H-Huh?! Hey, hang on a second! That's my..."
Before she could finish, the Pokemon already let out a loud buzzing noise, which caused her to cover her ears and Aki gritted her teeth in pain. As for her Taillow, it also flinched when he heard the noise before she tried to escape from it, something that Jae noticed as she screamed again.
"Aki, stop Jet!" Hearing her command, her Absol turned around and also gasped in shock. Without any hesitation, she used Quick Attack and tackled the Taillow on the ground. And in panic, Jae quickly returned him into his Poke Ball, which she gasped in relief. "That was close... But so much for that introduction clip..." She then picked up her phone camera and stopped the recording as she sighed in dismay before she turned to her savior. "Thanks for stopping Jet. I just caught it recently and I didn't know how aggressive it really was back there."

"Wait, that Taillow is yours?!" Shalin gasped as Queen Zing landed and rest her wings. She hastily dismounted her Pokémon, letting the reins flop to one side of the unusual mount. "I'm sorry - it looked like a wild Pokémon!" The girl was practically shouting - she had, in the heat of the moment, forgot to pop her earplugs back out! She wasn't quite as talkative as she normally was around strangers, both because of the incident with the Taillow and of the trainer's size. Shalin was used to being called out for her short stature, but this trainer was even shorter than she was! To her, it felt so...awkward...being the taller one. "Your Absol is...so majestic," was all she could manage. As it became evident the young traveler meant no harm, the blonde relaxed some. By now, Flit had caught up, the big Yanma landing next to Queen Zing. While he was just too small for Shalin to fit atop, Jae could probably hop on him if she was comfortable doing it with no tack. "Well, it's not exactly trained," Jae sheepishly spoke up as she rubbed the back of her head. "As I said, I just caught it recently and I didn't realize how aggressive it really is until now. But thank you for helping me get it back."
After she pocketed her Poke Ball in her bag, she was taken aback at the woman's comment about Aki, which she chuckled a bit. "Um... Thanks. I named her Aki and my auntie said she's like that because she's known as a shiny Pokemon, whatever that is." But then, she froze upon seeing the large dragonfly-like Pokemon as she squealed in awe and walked closer to it and the Beedril. "They look so cool! And that's something I don't say to a Bug-type Pokemon every day. Are they yours, missy?"
Her eyes glimmer as she continues to stare at the woman's Beedrill and Yanma a little bit too close.

"That would explain a lot," Shalin couldn't help but giggle, finally noticing her earplugs were still in and popping them out. "Just happened to be around is all." The moment she realized how loud she was talking, she lowered her voice a notch or two. Her attention shifted toward Aki, the blonde sliding off her Beedrill and exposing the simple, but effective, saddle and other riding tack the insectile predator wore. "Shiny Pokémon are really rare," she explained to the excited-looking female. "From what I understand, it's a bunch of rare genetic traits that combine to cause it. I don't really know for sure, though. Anyway, I'm Shalin--"As Jae's stare grew more intense, Flit's wings began humming softly...relatively speaking. It was still loud enough to interrupt Shalin until her Pokémon stopped and crawled back a few steps. Queen Zing seemed to embrace Jae's stare, though, getting closer and holding one of her foreleg stings toward her, like a human would offer a handshake. Not pointed at her, of course! "I'm Shalin Nariya, wildest rider this side of Ageos! These two are Flit and Queen Zing, and they're how I like to get around!"

"That's okay. I'm glad you're helping us out from Jet escaping"
Rare? Jae only thought of Aki's strange appearance was the result of her accidental genetics or something. She didn't know that Shiny Pokemon were very rare until now. Guess she learned something new every day. But back to the woman's Pokemon, Jae was still entranced by her Yanma's humming wings and even accepted the Beedrill's "handshake" in glee, which Aki tried to jump in at first until she noticed what the Bug/Poison-type was trying to do.
"Wow, you're a rider! That's cool! My name is Jae Tsukuda, future Top Coordinator!" She introduced herself in a boastful manner. "I'm also a streamer and vlogger who stream video games. Though I can't call myself a popular streamer. I do have a small subscriber count at the moment. I think you already met Aki." Her Absol quietly nodded at the new face, which she noticed there was nothing dangerous about her.

"New Pokémon can be like that," Shalin reiterated, reminded of how Caprice was when she initially tried to train her back in Johto. While she was thinking about it, she also sent out the giant, golden fox. Like her other Pokémon, this one was decked out in riding tack. The warmth from her body felt good, given how cold it was outside. "Caprice here was like that when I first caught her, too." The fire-type eyed Jae warily. When Flit saw Jae staring at his wings in amazement, he started vibrating them faster and slightly louder. "Can you be quiet, Flit? I can't hear Jae," Shalin kindly asked, and her partner was quick to calm down. "A content creator? Can't say I watch those - I spend more time in the wild than in the city. Say, where are you headed? If we're headed the same way, my Pokémon could probably get you there a lot faster."
