If there was one thing that Ettie loved, it was shiny objects. Anything that glimmered and gleamed in the light, from tiny pieces of quartz found in gravel, from coins, to even the rhinestones you might find adhered to certain pieces of clothing; the young child was like a corvid, in that she took joy in hoarding such objects. Thus, it was - perhaps - of no surprise that when she ran into someone looking to teach others how to dig up even more shinies, that she was eager to take them up on the offer; even as Anne believed the idea of following a stranger into their mineshaft was a bad idea.
Nonetheless though, once they were down in the mines, Ettie would get straight to work attempting to dig with the tools provided to her. Even the pups would join in, trying to dig away at the walls with their little canid claws! What would they find, down in the mines, today?

Something has happened! Congratulations! EttieSuccess! You found Sand! Okay, so it's not that exciting. Looks like this spot was either over-mined or just weathered by time. Maybe you should try another spot, but the sand is at least decent quality.

Sand, sand, and more sand - though Duchess seemed to be having an absolute ball digging through all of it, tail wagging, there weren't any shinies here in the forming pile that Ettie could see. Huhm.... Maybe she should try someplace else...?
Though the young girl would initially blow a raspberry at the indeed unexciting find of theirs, it didn't take long until she would perk back up. "C'mon, guys!" Ettie chirped to the pups - and they would, attentively, follow at her heels as they moved to look for another spot to dig at. Perhaps this wall over here? It certainly seemed like nobody had touched this wall quite yet, and so it seemed quite promising!
"Alright, let's get digging, everyone!" At Ettie's call, the other canines would bark and yip in confirmation - as they all, together, would work together to work at the wall. Certainly, Ettie lacked strength - but she easily made up for it in numbers!

Something has happened! What will you do? EttieYou swing, pry, and dig, but... there's nothing shiny to be found. With one more mighty (perhaps frustrated?) swing, however, what you do find is darkness beneath the stone. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice that it's a separate cavern. You hear rustling inside...

Ettie would dig and dig and dig, with the aid of her pups - although for all of her effort, she still wasn't finding anything shiny! Ettie couldn't help a faintly frustrated grumble, pouting and puffing her cheeks - all the while wondering if it was worth the effort to be down here like this - before bringing back the pick for another swing...
... And nearly falling forward, when the pick would proceed to punch through the wall! "Yipe!"
The startled little yelp Ettie made would quickly draw the pups attentions, as all of them turned their heads up to glance at the hole that Ettie had punched through the rock wall - already crumbling at the edges, as the thinnest parts began to fall away. Blinking, Ettie could see that there was something on the other side - a cave?
<What's that....?> Princess mumbled, eyeing the hole.
<A cave!> Ruffian answered, already trying to climb up to better look through it. Ettie, too, would peek her head through the hole - glancing around to see if there was anything of interest.

Something has happened! What will you do? EttieInside the little cavern is definitely a Pokemon, perhaps more than one. What you definitely see is a singular Sandshrew of the Kantonian variety before it hisses and digs a tunnel to escape you. You do see a shiny, finally, next to where the ground-type left. A Poison Gem!

Initially, in the cave, was darkness - but as Ettie's vision adjusted, she would come to see the little cavern proper - and from within, she could hear something scratching about! "Oooh.." She'd softly coo in curiosity - and though Anne would bark <Wait, let me go in-> to Ettie out of wariness, the young girl would already be climbing in through the hole to investigate the cavern! ...
... And in climbing in, Ettie would end up falling forwards with a yelp, and find herself face-to-face with a wild Sandshrew. As the shrew pokemon hissed, Ettie would squeak a bit and scamper back just enough to give the wild pokemon some proper space - Anne hopping in with a sharp bark of <Leave Ettie alone!> as she stood protectively between her sister and the pokemon.
The Sandshrew, though, was uninterested in a fight; immediately burrowing into the ground, and disappearing. In its place, would be something that'd glint in the light - prompting Ettie to blink curiously, as her eyes adjusted to the darkness, and as the surprise faded. Oooh! A shiny gem!
Giggling, Ettie wasted no time in scooping up and pocketing the gem - and as she scooped it up, she'd begin glancing around in the cavern; wondering what else they'd find in here.
(Anne, meanwhile, could only sigh; exasperated at her sister's danger-blindness.)

EttieA random event has occurred! After the close encounter with the Sandshrew, things calmed down quite a bit. It got eerily quiet, the only noise being from Ettie's pack and her pick. She continued hacking away, near the area where she had found the previous Gem. After a few more minutes, she was able to catch the glint of a Blue Shard buried not too far past it!

In the Sandshrew's absence, things would be quiet - much like before, when Ettie had been mining in the actual mineshaft. Though it was dark, in this unlit cavern, Ettie wasn't bothered by this; instead being curious about what else she could find in the little cave that they had uncovered. She would - initially - be simply examining and feeling along the walls, to see if anything of interest was sticking out or already exposed, while the other pups made their way into the cavern to dig and sniff about.
In particular, Duchess would be curious about the tunnel that the Sandshrew had disappeared into; and though the tunnel in question was much too small for her to actually fit in, she'd still dig around - and before long, would find the glint of something under the toiled earth; another shiny! Excited, Duchess wouldn't hesitate in digging free the Blue Shard, and taking it over to Ettie with a muffled, wordless yip!
In response, the young girl couldn't help a delighted little giggle; reaching down to pat Duchess on the head. "Good girl!" She'd praise, taking and pocketing the blue shard. Another shiny, to add to her collection!
Now what else might they find, digging around in this cavern?

Ettie A random event has occurred!Ettie's persistence had paid off - she had struck Gold! She needed to be careful when extracting it, though - gold was one of the softest metals of all. She could also hear the sound of something boring through the earth; with the echo in the tunnels, it was impossible to determine where exactly it was coming from. Man-made drilling equipment was prohibited in this tunnel for environmental reasons; all digging had to be done by hand with manual tools. Could it be a Pokémon making that noise?

The glint of gold, as Ettie dug away at the stone wall, would prompt a great deal of excitement from the young girl. Though no one in the vicinity likely could see Aura, her aura 'tail' would still be wagging like wild as she dug away at the earth surrounding the gold! "This is extra shiny..!" She'd chirp with glee, eager to add this to her hoard of goodies that she had already accumulated over the course of the day.
And before long, as she'd manage to extract the gold ore from the wall, she'd turn around to show it off to the others! "Look, guys! Ain't this really pretty to look at?" At the agreeing yips, Ettie grinned; and would pocket the gold alongside the gem and shard...
... To soon hear a strange sound, of something boring through the earth. The pups, too, would hear this sound - all of their ears pricking up as the assembled group looked about; wondering where the sound was coming from. "What's that noise...?" Ettie would murmur, slowly walking along as she tried to figure out what - exactly - she was hearing.

Ettie A random event has occurred! The rumbling was growing louder, and Ettie's pack was beginning to sense tiny tremors. If she was particularly sensitive to vibrations, she might be able to sense them herself. Whatever was doing this had to be close now. There were only a handful of Pokémon capable of doing this. Best case, a Drilbur passing harmlessly through; worst case, something highly aggressive like a Rhydon. She did catch a glimpse of a slightly off-color piece of rock in the wall she was working on. After further excavation, it wasn't a simple rock - it was a Dome Fossil! What a find!

Between the growing rumbles and the gradually building tremors, Ettie - and her pack by extension - were growing unsure. What could be causing all of this ruckus, and why was it coming this way? Even as Ettie found a fossil - the strange object being of some interest to her - she and the pack was starting to consider whether or not they should leave, or whether they should stay and wait to see what would happen.
Either way, as she managed to free the Dome Fossil from the wall and add it to her growing hoard, the assembled group would gradually make their way for the hole that connected the cavern to the mineshaft; putting themselves away from whatever direction the sound was coming from, and putting them near a potential escape route. The pups, too, would gather near Ettie in an almost mutually protective fashion; Anne and Ruffian especially being ready to face whatever was coming their way, if it turned out to be aggressive.
Now, all there was to do was wait and see what would happen.

Ettie A random event has occurred! After some time, the rumbling peaked in intensity. Ettie and her pack saw the source of the tremors: a family of Drilbur digging a cross-tunnel. As they passed, the rumbling began to subside. Their disturbance, though, dislodged a small object stuck in the ceiling. It was a Cyan Shard. With a new path to potentially dig out, this had to be just the tip of the iceberg. What other valuables could be awaiting them?

Rumbling, rumbling, and more rumbling - the closer it got, the more tense the group would get; ready to react to whatever it might've been. It didn't take long for them to feel the approaching vibrations - although when the source of the ruckus finally emerged... It would turn out to simply be a family of Drilbur, passing on by...! Blinking a bit, Ettie would quickly realize that there had been no threat to speak of - and the pups, too, would relax upon seeing this as well.
... At least, unless you count a shard falling on Ettie's head a threat; prompting her to squeak a bit in surprise! As she'd reach up into her hair to extract and examine the shard though, she would deem it to be another shiny to add to her collection - making her giggle.
And there were new tunnels to explore, too... "Hmm... Let's go check those out, guys!" She'd call to her pack - and as they barked in acknowledgement, the group would begin making for the tunnels that the Drilbur had left behind - digging their way in the opposite direction from the family, to avoid disturbing the wild pokemon.
